Oh how I love a dual time-period story! A mysterious antique ring binds the stories of Annie David and Liberty Caldwell—Annie, at the Boston bombing of present day, and Liberty, during the Boston Massacre of the 1700s.

I love historical fiction that feels exceptionally real. Especially when it is encircled with historical facts and people. This is a page-turner, easy to sink into and become totally invested. The characters are easy to relate to and sympathize with, and the descriptions put you in the scene.

Freedom’s Ring deals with overcoming adversity, facing fears, relinquishing guilt, and finding inner strength. This is a good read that will leave you changed.

Freedom's Ring interweaves a contemporary story and history all in one. Annie was one of the runner injured during the Boston Marathon bombing, but she receives help fron an unknown stranger who gives a signet ring in the midst of the crisis. Unable to recover emotionally, Annie puts her life on pause while distancing herself from her family while searching for the mysterious hero. Prompted by her family possibly moving overseas, she reconnects with her family and discovers the identity of the stranger, Brad. Together, Annie and Brad research the hisory of the ring and its original owner and discover a complex story of love, sacrifice, and divided loyalties set during the American Revolution. Jump back and forth through time and these characters learn about forgiveness and love.

Two women seperated by time but sharing the same grief and burden due to casualities beyond their control. What will it take for them to forgive and allow themselves to love again?

What most caught my attention in this novel was the exceptional description of the characters' feelings and emotions. It made the story transcend the pages and years in which it takes place, becoming very real and relatable.

This is definitely a book that will echo within me for a while.
