Love Love this series! Debra Webb gets better with every book. Intense and engaging,! Read the whole book in one setting. Debra Webb is on my automatic buy list!

3 stars
I want to start this off by saying that I have been a big advocate of Debra Webb from her beginnings at Harlequin. So me giving this book three stars is quite unusual. A lot of other reviewers gave this book five stars. So, keep that in mind.
I have to admit I had a hard time getting into this book. I was already at a disadvantage since I did not read book one. The flow of the text seemed off and I did not get enough character backstory to push me further into the pages of chapter one.
So, yes, I struggled with this one.
I did not find the main character engaging enough to follow and the secondary character of Nick seemed more lead man worthy than Bobbie. The interactions between Bobbie and Nick’s psycho killer father were the best parts of the book, in my opinion and that happened in the first quarter of the book.
I wonder if I would have enjoyed it more if I had read book one first, but since many reviewers said they thought you could skip book one, I did.
I suggest you read reviews by others if you enjoyed book one of this series. Otherwise, I would just skip this one and move on to another book in your TBR.

Nick Slade rescues Bobbie Gentry from a terrible fate. Now they meet up to confront a threat that is more deadly than anyone could imagine. This is a real page-turner with enough twists and turns to keep you up at night!

kept me on the edge of my seat. A great thriller. I am always pleased with Debra's books

I have read several of the books in this author's Faces of Evil series. I really enjoyed reading those books. While, I did not read the first book in this new series, I had no problem jumping right into this book. Bobby is a strong character. The little bit I got to know about her, made me that more intrigued to know more. Then there is the dynamics between her and Nick. They are not lovers but the bond they share spilled over blood keeps me in the game. Nick has mystery surrounding him. He is like an onion. As each layer was revealed, more questions were left. Just like the big one left towards the end of the story.
The first half of the story was more about the characters. This was nice in a way for me as I was able to get familiar with them having not read the first book. Yet, after a while, I did want the story to pick up the pace and get more focused on the serial killer. Luckily, this happened in the later second half of the story. There were some face offs. I know that Bobby does not go down without a fight. I look forward to following this series.

WOWZA!
I tried to read this as slowly as I could. BUT holy cow do I love this series. AND I never thought I could love a series by Debra Webb more than Faces of Evil but hot diggity dog...THIS. This series is epic.
Bobbi is damaged and so strong and dedicated. And Nick...another damaged character that believes he's not worthy. And together they are unbeatable and combustible. There chemistry is off the charts. And it looks like they are going to be in the race of their lives. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
If you like dark, twisted and epic! You MUST READ this series! Debra Webb keeps getting better and better!

This one kept me guessing all the way to the climax of the book. Debra Webb does a great job of setting you up for the next book! You can tell that there's more to come.
I did feel that somewhat distracted by a subplot that didn't have much bearing on the story. The Antagonist (Serial killer) was good, but wasn't a formidable opponent in my opinion. I could be comparing to the Storyteller in the first few books though. It could also be the expectation from foreshadowing early on in the book providing some amount of misdirection. So I was expecting more of a bang at the end.

A Deeper Grave by Debra Webb is part of the Shades of Death series. In the first book Bobbi had been abducted by serial killer and she’s lost her family. She met Nick Shade who is a serial killer hunter. He helped her with the case and to regain her life.
I found Nick, his career choice and his background fascinating. He happens to be the son of a serial killer; a pretty notorious one.
The author is a very good writer with an enormous imagination. You're never sure where she's going to go and who is going to survive. She's not above letting one of your characters not make it through the end of the book. The team working with Bobbie each have an interesting story and piece to play in the story.
My only complaint is that they are just too violent and graphic for me. These are images I just do not want in my head which is disappointing for me because she such a good writer. If you don't mind graphic violence I think you will really enjoy this mystery thriller. The characters return from the first book and each are starting to move on in their own way. You can read it as a stand alone but it will be much better if you read the first book; but it is also very violent and graphic.
Sexual Content: from a romantic perspective there is one scene, some of the violence referred to is rape (I rated that under the violence)
Violence: graphic detail, disturbing
Lanaguage: F49, B!tch 23, A5shole 7, Sh!t 47, D@mn90
Drugs/alcohol - Nothing stood out here to me

When the hunter becomes the hunted…
Serial-killer hunter Nick Shade built his legendary career chasing monsters—sadistic criminals with a gruesome thirst for death. When he rescued Montgomery detective Bobbie Gentry from horrific captivity and helped her reclaim her life, he didn't intend to be a hero. Or a target. But now a copycat murderer haunts him, and reuniting with Bobbie is his best chance at neutralizing the threat.
Bobbie can't forget the nightmares of her trauma—or the man who saved her. Working with Nick to outmaneuver the person behind a deadly vendetta feeds her hope that there's more to her world than ghosts and destruction. Maybe joining Nick's search for a killer is about gratitude. Maybe it's nothing more than cold revenge. But the only way they can protect themselves is to trust each other.

I do have to say that I have found a new favorite author. Ms. Webb does an excellent job of drawing the reader right into the story to the point that you can almost smell the blood.
This story is gritty with a kick ass heroine, Bobby Gentry, who doesn't know how to quit once she is on the trail. She is assisted by the mysterious Nick Shade who goal in life was to hunt serial killers. That was until he meet Bobby who has managed to work her way under his skin so now he has another goal which is to try to keep her safe.
A DEEPER GRAVE is the second book in this series and I do have to say that they just keep getting better and better. I would recommend this book and this series to any of my readers who enjoy gritty thrillers with a touch of romance. I do want to give my readers a heads up that this book does portray graphic violence so be forewarned.
*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed within are my own.

Debra Webb is one of my go to author if I'm in a reading slump and I completely love this series. It's fast pass and has everything I'm looking for in a thriller. Can't wait for the next book.

4 1/2 STARS!
With this continuation of her Shades of Death series, Debra Webb gathers us near and takes us along for the ride as we wind up knee deep in a nasty serial killer investigation again. Emotions are raw, the murder scenes are gruesome and no one is safe!
Montgomery, AL detective Bobbie Gentry has been through so much in the last year, and thanks to Nick Shade rescuing her and giving her a little peace again, she has been able to heal somewhat from her trauma. She will never forget ... she will never forgive ... but she feels a little more free than she has since this whole nightmare started. Just as she starts to relax a little, a new demon starts to haunt the town.

When he hears that Bobbie is in the middle of something again, it doesn't take him long to arrive in town and reach out to her. This book, start right off with two murders and an abduction of a young women. If you haven’t read this series you really need to. A little back story, In the Blackest Crimson and No Darker Place, we meet Bobbie Gentry, who is a police detective with the Montgomery Police Department. Bobbie was working on a case, that would turn her world upside down. After seeing the horrific death of her husbands and finding out that her son is also gone. With everything that has happen to Bobbie, she now a change person forever. Nothing will ever be the same for her. It is as if the nightmares will never end.
Fast forward she is back on the job after about six-month leave. Bobbie is still trying to recover from the murder of her husband and son. Bobbie, is also dealing with the mental and physical emotion of what has happen in her life.
She is now working on a case were the mother and father have been murder, and their teenage daughter has been abducted. The killer doesn’t know that their son is still alive because he was supposed to be spending the night at a friend house. But he decided to hide in the attic. In the meantime, there are more women that will become missing. Bobbie, starts to think that this case feels very familiar as if these crimes are like Nick father. But there is just one problem Nick father is in prison, but Bobbie really believe that they’re dealing with a copycat series killer. But the more that Bobbie, works this case she is feeling that there are more than just one killer.
Nick shade, is someone whom she has started a friendship with. Whom she has started to put her trust in him. It is funny how Nick Shade, always show up at the right time. Nick has found out that his father, whom is a serial killer had requested that Bobbie, visit him in jail. His father wanted Bobbie, to know that Nick and she are going to become victim very soon.
You will have to get the book yourself to find out what happens, and who is doing the killing. Debra Webb, has a gift of telling her stories. Sometimes she takes you on a never-ending ride. Because this story has so many twist and turn, that it leaves you in such a very confusing state of mind. Debra, has a way of writing that you can’t put the book down until the very last page. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen in the next book.

Ms. Webb has outdone herself once again with A DEEPER GRAVE.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's incredibly fast paced, it's emotional, and very intense. A complex and convincing book that had me hooked from the first line all the way until the last. This fast-paced thriller is the definition of a page-turner You can’t wait to find out what happens next. Highly recommended reading!

A frightfully grim and horrendously ghastly story that made me want to double check the locks, and sleep with the lights on, because the terror, the fear, the morbid images, they seep into your mind with each scene passing while you read, and the presence of evil is palpable and true.
The Shades of Death is getting darker and more twisted and sinister with each installment to the series. This story with its grisly plot twists and unmerciful manipulations by the criminal masterminds is fascinating in the oddest way. Like I was spellbound I kept turning the pages because I needed to know that there is good left in the world, that there is salvation from the savage serial killers who enjoy their work, that they will be captured, that there is justice left and it will win.
Obviously, this story is not for the faint at heart. it had my stomach turning several times. It is just as gory as it sounds. But for the thriller lovers, this masterpiece is a must read. The author captures the goodness, the light of a human nature in the same breath as she shows the rotting murkiness of the vile a person is capable of. The balance and the boundaries between the good and the evil are not as apparent or as clear as one might think. The trust for the honesty and integrity is put to the test.
Nick Shade and Bobbie Gentry are brought together again and are the target for the manipulations. The connection between them is tangible and obvious, yet due to the circumstances fragile and frail. There is no denial that they are important to each other, that they deeply care for each other, but as that seems to be the weapon that is used against them, and used as a reason to kill innocents, it is obvious the delicate ties that bind them needs to be severed.
"They were two damaged people frantically tempting survive without suffering further injury"
A brilliantly told intense story that captured my mind, took my breath away, and my mind into a darkness I didn't want to knowledge existed. It is as ferocious and cruel as it is brutal and savage. The author boldly makes the law as vulnerable to be victims as the civilians, no one safe, not one person involved is left intact and secure. As the story ends we are left to wait for a next installment to see if there is redemption, if there is salvation, if the good will win. My hope is, this wait is not too long...
~ Five Spoons

A DEEPER GRAVE
I think I'm going to run out of good things to say about anything and everything Debra Webb gives us to read. However, this next adventure in the series is well worth the time spend reading.
Bobbie and Nick reunite under troubling circumstances that can do nothing but bring them closer together. A serial killer is yet again after Bobbie, but is also after Nick for much different reasons.
Bobbie's journey of healing is progressing well, while Nick tries to outlive his past. As always Debra answers some of our questions and sparks more questions.
Again, the only disappointment I felt was turning the last page and having to wait for the next book.
EXCELLENT JOB DEBRA WEBB ! ☆☆☆☆☆

Thank you Debra Webb and Netgalley for a digital copy of this book in return for my honest review.
Blood, guts and a depraved killer !!
Detective Bobbie Gentry is back with Nick Shade , a serial killer hunter that plays by his own rules . Nick's father was a serial killer that committed horrific acts on his victims before being turned in by Nick, caught by police and sent to prison.
There is a killer in Montgomery kidnapping young women, slaughtering people and committing to acts on his victims. Is he working alone is someone pulling his strings ? Now he's coming after people close to Bobbie.
Masterfully crafted thriller by Debra Webb. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you first read The Blackest Crimson, Bobbie 's story. Awesome series ! You won't be disappointed ! I gave this book 5 stars !!!
This book releases May 30th 2017 . I leave reviews on Twitter , Amazon , Goodreads and Instagram.

Thank you Debra Webb and NetGalley for the ARC of A Deeper Grace by Debra Webb that I read and reviewed.
This was the second book in the Shades of Death Series and it picks up two months after the first book. Bobbie is dealing with life better after the death of her husband and son and she is living life again. In this book she comes face to face with another serial killer that will test her skills as a police officer and bring Nick Shade the serial killer hunter who saved her and made her feel again back into her life.
This book was excellent. I love the chemistry between Bobbie and Nick and I could read books with them in them all day long. The story line in this book was very interesting and even though I was pretty sure who I knew the killer was half through the book I did not want it to be my suspect so I kept second guessing myself until the end.
This book had it all. Gruesome murders, tear jerking moments, hot romance, a great plot and a perfect set-up for the next book. I am really not sure what more you could ask for. Webb outdid herself in this book.
I am giving A Deeper Grave five out of five stars.

It was with great anticipation that I read A Deeper Grave, the second book in the Shades of Death series by Debra Webb
A Deeper Grave picks up 2 months after No Darker Place ends. Detective Bobby Gentry is moving on with her life despite all she has lost, when a new serial killer emerges in Montgomery, AL. One who seems connected to Nick Shade.
Another great read by Debra Webb. Just when I thought I had it figured out I was thrown for a loop. Surprised by the victims and killer alike…and as always…the cliffhanger ending!

This is the second book in the Shades of Death Series. Nick Shade is known for hunting serial killers, but now one is hunting him, with help from his Father. Bobbie is working on a case to save two women that are missing, their loved one were killed when they were abducted. She has a new partner to get used to after Newt passed away. And she wants to help keep Nick safe, being she owes him for saving her. A fast paced thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Hang on for the ride! Another winner by Ms. Webb!

The latest Debra Webb novel, A Deeper Grave, is not for the faint of heart. The suspense builds from the last novel and continues to grow and almost borders on horror. Webb clearly has an endgame with this series and it isn’t going to be easy getting there. Webb shows no mercy for established and new characters alike; this has been a hallmark of this series so far. I’m definitely hooked and can’t wait to see where the next book takes us.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
