I thought I'd love this book! But it was quite flat and boring which was really disappointing.

What a fun story! I loved India's character progression and the plot.

This was well-written but a little slow getting to the story. Likeable characters and when the romance started it was good.

This book starts off a little slow, but as it build and delves deeper into the story, it sets a faster pace. I really enjoyed this little romance. We have a near thirty year old prim and proper, always right, no-nonsense (to the extreme) India Pendergast ready to begin a manhunt for her missing aunt, and Derek, a gentleman protecting a group of elderly (would-be fraudsters) from going to prison. It's an inevitable romance, and quite hilarious at times, especially because of the cunning of these elderly women and their travel business scheme. Set in Paris, it creates the perfect backdrop for our charming rogue to enchant our no-nonsense miss. All of the characters in this book are memorable, especially Derek's brother Val and the inestimable Sir Martin. India isn't your traditional swoony female, which made me root for her even more. I loved that she grew throughout the story, and made an effort to be more relaxed. I loved the small details that were included in the story and there are no loose ends. I'd love to read another of Alexander's titles in the future.

Personal secretary India Prendergast is looking for her cousin, Lady Heloise Snuggs, who went on a trip and stopped sending the postcards she promised. The first place she started looking after not getting any help from the local constabulary...was where Heloise got her travel info from....The Lady Traveler's Society.
Derek Saunders, charged with looking after his Aunt Guinevere, has found that she is running said society as a way to raise personal funds and has not answered any of India's requests for help and he now must head off any resulting problems.
Derek hires an investigator and travels to Paris with India, hoping to avoid any scandals her questions would bring. Close everyday contact brings the couple close and they fall deeply in love as they explore Paris in search of Heloise.
Wonderfully woven historical with realistic descriptions and lifelife interactions between the characters.

Another fun enjoyable historical romance. I liked all the characters and the glimpse of Paris was entertaining. Would recommend this book for any romance fan.

Victoria Alexander's The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen is full of witty dialogue, great locations and memorable characters. A great historical romance.

Derek is not one for holding in his thoughts, “brave?” Derek fairly sputtered with outrage. More than merely annoyed then. “Stupid is a more accurate term.” India doesn't mind sharing her thoughts either, “I would not be averse to you kissing me again.” She raised her chin. “Frequently and with a great deal of enthusiasm.” I liked the way Derek made India stop talking, “good God, India, shut up.” He pulled her into his arms and pressed his lips to hers in a kiss hard and fast and utterly intoxicating. Far too quickly he released her and shook his head. “You drive me stark, raving mad.” I really liked this book, and the chemistry between India and Derek.
