this was a perfect end to the storyline. Jo really needed a strong match and he certainly was. I also liked that some important questions were answered too. Everyone should read this.

4.5 stars. I loved this book so much! Jo and Gill are an amazing couple and this story has it all - romance, mystery, and appearances from our other couples from this series. I can only hope we get a future series with Zane and Drew...please?

I was wrong though - the mystery did not play out as I had suspected from book 2. Apparently, I read WAY too much into things.

Bybee doesn't disappoint and I recommend not just this book or series, but all of her series to contemporary romance lovers- you can thank me later. Now go on and get this book and start reading!

Many thanks to the publisher via Netgalley for a review copy.

I liked it! The characters are fun, interesting and definitely not perfect. The 10 year old cold case mystery adds depth to the story. I need to go back and read the first two books in the series.

Making It Right is the third book in the “Most Likely to “ series by Catherine Bybee. The series is about three best friends that graduated together all went different ways but still stayed friends and ten years later all return to River Bend.
This is Jo’s story. The story starts with a Prologue of the Jo and her two friends Mel and Zoe after they graduate high school. Jo is the daughter and very rebellious. The next morning Jo and goes home her and her dad have an argument and she moves out.
12 years later Jo is the sheriff of River bend after her dad died at his hunting cabin. The investigation of Jo’s dads death was ruled “accidental”. After her fathers death, Jo joins the police academy and once she graduates she is voted Sheriff of River Bend just like her father. Even though her fathers death was ruled an accident Jo feels like there is more, that her dad was actually murdered. Jo is great Sheriff but she eats and sleeps her job. She goes out of town every now and then and will usually pick up a man for one night but that’s all.
Jo signed up for a week of FBI Training in Quantico, Virginia. Mel and Zoe talk her into going up the weekend before for a break. Jo arrived on Saturday and decides to go out to a local bar that night. Jo isn’t in the bar long before she lays on her type of man, muscled up, tattoos and bald. Jo goes over and they hit it off. She give him a fake name of Anne and he tells her Rocco is hers but she had already named him “Viking man”. Rocco takes her back to his hotel room and they make a night of it. Jo slips out in the morning and leaves.
On Monday the 1st day of FBI Training Camp Jo goes to meet her friend Shauna who is an FBI agent and helped her sign up for training. Shauna informs her she will not be able to take her to Quantico but her partner Clausen can. Jo assumes Clausen is a she, Shauna informs her that Clausen is a “he”named Gill Clausen, at that moment Gill turns around and he is none other than “Rocco aka Viking Man”. Jo wants to die on spot because this is not suppose to happen. She isn’t suppose to ever see him again much less be stuck with him for a week. Jo tries to act like she doesn’t know him but he isn’t haven’t. He even asks if they have met before. Once they leave the FBI office and head to Quantico Jo and Gill immediately have words.
During the week that Jo is at training her and Gill run into other at training camp because he is an instructor and also after hours at the bar with the other recruits. The night before Jo has to go back to River Bend her and Gill endup together at her hotel room. Gill stays all night because since they are at her hotel she can’t leave. When they wake up the next morning Gill tells her she will see him before she can miss him since he only lives 2 hours away from River Bend.
Once Jo is back in River Bend, it isn’t but a few days before Gill comes to visit under the disguise of needing help with a case he is working on. He is also there to talk to Jo about her fathers death since she thinks it wasn’t an accident. The more time Gill stays in River Bend, Jo’s peaceful little town of River Bend starts having small crimes.
This is a very sweet story with a little suspense but a lot of love, dual POV and some sexy scenes.

Making it Right is the third and final book in the Most Likely To series. I've loved all of the books in this series. The characters are funny, loyal, sexy, smart and fun. The dynamic between Mel, Zoe and Jo is something all women strive for. This is Jo's story. Jo grew up the daughter of a cop. Didn't like it and never thought she'd follow in her father's footsteps. Now, it's ten years later and she's the sheriff of her small little town. She's itchy for more. She's just not sure what that means. So she signs up for a class with the FBI. To learn new skills and see if she's really cut out for police work. Her instincts are solid. Her reaction time perfect. She also meets a man who's perfect for her. Tall, tatted up, muscular, sexy. It's like he was hand-picked for her. The sparks fly with federal agent Gill and Jo in and out of class. Jo's never had a relationship. She never thought it was possible in her small town, but Gill is determined to prove to her that she's worth it. That they are both worth it. When things start to go wrong in River Bend, Jo needs Gill's help. Can Gill work with and protect Jo? Can he convince her to live her own life for once? I loved this story! I'm a huge fan of Catherine's and her books always make me happy. Her leading ladies would be perfect friends and the men are always funny, sexy and love their women! I really loved Gill! He's big and sexy, but he's not afraid to show his emotions or go after what he wants. It was the perfect way to end the series even though I'm sad it's over!

"You need me, you just don't know it yet."
"Is that right?"
"It's okay, you'll catch on."

"She described you perfectly."
"I did not."
"You said big and mmmm!"
Gill laughed, moved in to shake Zoe' hand. "I think I'm going to like your friends, JoAnne."
"He calls her JoAnne. Isn't that cute!"

ARC Review, first installment I’ve read in this trilogy. Classic wild child turned good girl, with a twist. Romance, mystery, suspense, murder, attempted murder, thriller... Bybee has it all packed into this book. This book held my attention once I read through the initial chapters of high school age protagonists. Jo takes a week off to get some extra training through the FBI, to sharpen her skills and maybe help her find out who killed her father. Her father’s murder hangs on her mind, it was ruled a suicide but she just doesn’t believe it. When she is put in the hospital because of an “accident”, she knows she needs help to figure this out before someone takes her out as well. Ultimately the culprit was not who I expected it to be, Bybee did a great job with this one. Easy to read, not overly suspenseful but just enough, and romance thrown in. I haven’t read a thriller/suspense romance in a while and I plan to go read the others at the next opportunity.

I quite like this series and it has felt like forever since I've been waiting for Jo's story. I've been waiting to find out a) whom was going to win her heart, b) to find out who has been watching her for the whole series and c) who killed her father. And now that I found out all the answers I can say that I'm left feeling good and so happy Jo got her HEA.

Jo is the last of her best friends to fall. First it was Mel, then Zoe and now Jo. As usual Jo ends up in bed with what seems to be a 'bad ass' what she didn't expect was for that same bad ass to be one of her trainers on a out of town training she's signed up for.

I instantly loved the connection between Jo and Gill and I loved that fact that he couldn't be any more perfect for her and her life. What first starts as a one night stand turns to more when Gill can't get Jo out of his system.

Jo's trying to live her life but with more and more suspicious activity going on she turns to her friends and Gill for help. Catherine Bybee has such a knack at writing romantic suspense. With the perfect balance of drama and passion. From the beginning of this series I was hooked. And now that the trilogy is over I'm a bit sad to say goodbye to the people of Riverbend.

4 It's about time thumbs up!

I'm so sad to see the Most Likely To series come to an end. I've been a fan of Catherine Bybee's writing for some time now and I have to say that the emotions and love behind the three books in this series were like none other. As an avid reader, I could feel the deeper connection between Catherine and her characters and it made Making It Right so much fun to read. I fell in love with Jo the moment we first met her (as well as Mel and Zoe) in the first book. She's incredibly strong and tenacious. She's also stuck in a rut that only Gill has the answer to. He's the one that is finally able to give her that push she needed to find her way out. Gill was the perfect hero. He's strong and supportive, not to mention sexy as hell. Together they make an unstoppable team.

Making It Right has sassy characters, a mystery that'll keep you guessing, and a romance that'll make you swoon. I adored this book. I feel like Catherine's writing has grown tremendously since the first book of her's that I read. Her characters are far more realistic and down to earth. She makes you want to know her characters in real life. You want to hug them when they are down and cheer alongside them at the end. If you are new to Catherine's books, definitely read her acknowledgements for each of the books in the Most Likely To series to learn a little bit more about the background and how this series came about. If you are a fan of romance that is closer to woman's fiction with a hint of mystery, pick up this book.

This third book set in a small Oregon town and following three high school best friends was just as enjoyable as the first two. Jo is so complicated and watching her struggle with her identity issues is tough but affirming. Gill is a perfect match for her - loved them together. I also appreciated the resolution of the storyline eregarding Jo's father's death.

Great finish to the trilogy. Jo's story was perfect for her - suspense, a hot agent, and the answers Jo's been looking for. Loved it!

Such a fun read. Loved getting to know these characters and experience their adventures. This is the first book by Catherine Bybee I've read and I am looking forward to going back and reading the first two books in this series!

Book 3 in one of my favourite series, Catherine Bybee has a way with words she makes you feel part of the book and she makes you feel like her characters are your friends.
This is JoAnne Ward's story, the daughter of a small town sheriff who never played by the rules growing up but after her father died mysteriously she ends up back in that same small town she grew up in and she gets herself elected to sheriff. Will she ever fill her fathers shoes and will she ever find out if her father was murdered or did he accidentally shot himself as everyone believes.
Gill Clausen a FBI Agent who met Jo when her friend Shauna convinces her to go on a FBI training course, he doesn't fit the mold of a FBI agent and he doesn't take no for an answer, will he be able to convince Jo there is more to life than her job and coaching the local high school kids at cross country.
Guess you need to read this book to get those answers. This book can be read as a standalone but I think you will enjoy it even more if you have read the previous 2 books. Sad to see this series end but what a way to end, a brilliant 5 star read.

This book right here is what I have been waiting for! Since the series started, I have been wanting Jo's story, and it was everything I wanted.

And more.

Well, Mr McHottie Gill is more.

Throughout the series, I have felt that Jo was missing out. Missing out on love, missing out on life.

From "most likely to end up in jail" to town Sheriff, Jo's story has been full of heartbreak - and she's not up for any more of that.

However, after an encounter with Gill, Jo's life is set on a different course. She has been trying to get to the bottom of her father's death a decade earlier, and now with fresh eyes and another persons perspective, things are moving along.

It is a whodunnit that has been building up since the earlier books in the series, and I have to say, Ms Bybee has written this so well that I was completely shocked when all things were reveal - well played.

I loved the growth in all the characters in this series, but particularly Jo. She finally spreads her wings and it is a joy to read.

I am sad that this is the final book in this series (as I am when any Catherine Bybee series ends) but that just means we will soon be on a new adventure.

Can't wait to see where we go next.

*will go live on blog during tour*

Why were there only three friends in this group? I wish there were more, because I am terribly sad to be leaving River Bend. I easily fell in love with this series, and thought the concept was fantastic.

From book 1, I knew Jo would have a great story, because she was so haunted and had unfinished business, and Bybee gave her a story she deserved and so much more.

I am a total Bybee fan. I have read all the Not Quite and the Weekday Bride books. I keep going back to her books, because she gives me great characters and a fun romance with a touch of suspense. Knowing there's an HEA is more or less enough to keep me reading, but the suspense element brings a different dimension to the story which just makes it that much better.

In Making It right, the story focuses on Jo, the former wild-child, who had assumed the role of town sheriff shortly after her father's passing. In the years that followed, she never accepted that her father's death was accidental, and she personally never closed the case. When she suspected that she was being watched, and she signed up for a weeklong class with the FBI, and met her match in the form of Agent Gill Clausen.
"Balance, my friend. She reminds you of your rebellious nature, and I'm guessing you do the same for her."

First and foremost, I want to thank Bybee for giving Jo such a wonderful story. This woman deserved everything she received. She finally met a man who was an acceptable balance of bad boy and upstanding citizen, and he totally won her heart. Heck, Gill won my heart too. He was a pretty incredible hero. He was all manly man on the outside, but then he would share parts of his tender heart with Jo.

Example 1: "Wedding cake is just like any other cake."
He didn't agree. "No, it's sweeter than birthday cake, because birthdays happen once a year, weddings happen only one."
"Not always," she found herself saying with worry.
Gill kissed her forehead once again. "For us. Only once."

Example 2: "Good luck finding that black book," he said when he reached the door.
"Oh, I'll find it."
Gill shook his head once and paused. "I threw it away in Virginia, when I knew I'd see you again."

But Bybee didn't just give her a beautiful romance. She gave her a family, a future, and closure. Jo had no real future before Gill, because there was that big question looming from her past. With the answers revealed, she was more open to possibilities. She was able to move on. I smiled so much from the ending, that my face hurt.

Loved this book. Jo, has inherited the badge from her deceased dad. She is the Sheriff of River Bend and has never felt one hundred percent that her dad's death was a suicide. She goes out to an expert law enforcement training seminar, where she meets Gil. Jo has a commitment phobia but she can't deny the chemistry that they have together. Upon returning to River Bend things start to happen and Jo's life is in harm. Gil is there to make things right and find out the truth of Jo's dad's death. Along with her best friends, Zoe and Melanie to offer comfort.

I have loved this series. All of the books are stand alone but you will want to read them all. Catherine Bybee has a way to draw her reader in and not let go until the end. Loved Jo, has the tough exterior but has the soft inner heart. I'm sad to say good by to my friends, Melanie, Zoe and Jo. But it was fun to meet them in person, lol.

4.5 Stars

Catherine Bybee is a go to author for me. And, books like this one are the reason. I really enjoyed Jo's story, which was a surprise for me as her story was the one I wasn't looking forward to of the 3.

Jo was interesting. And, I loved the exploration of the idea that she was living her life possibly for someone else rather than for her. I think a lot of us are in the position of doing things, or acting in certain ways, because of the expectations of others, or the expectations we place on ourselves because of the influence of others, because we think it is what they want us to do. I loved that this was explored in the guise of jo following in her father's footsteps (don't worry, really not a spoiler as this is something that comes up throughout the book).

I adored Gill. There was just something about him that made him incredibly appealing. I think a lot of it was how much he just plain adored and respected JoAnne, as he calls her. There is an appeal to a story that features a hero who just plain adores the heroine. And, it lets him get away with challenging her, and with calling her out, without losing the respect of the reader, as you know he thinks she is great.

As always, the book is well written and well paced. I would have liked a little less of the "murder mystery" but at the same time, I think it was important for the story of Jo as a whole, so I am not even positive that this was not well balanced.

There is an acknowledgement in the end of the book that is both heartfelt and rather funny, and, yes Ms. Bybee, I think ending it with a big fire would have left us readers with an ending we didn't love.

I recommend this book, as both a standalone and as the satisfying end to a series.

5* Marvellous Stars

This is the first time I have read a Catherine Bybee book and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. This is book 3 of Catherine’s “Most Likely To” trilogy and even though I did not read the previous 2 books you can read this as a standalone and not be lost in the story. I will definitely be downloading book 1 and 2 in the trilogy to read more about the wonderful secondary characters, Jo’s best friends Mel and Zoe.

I connected straight away with the heroine, Jo Ward, River Bend’s Sheriff; she was feisty, fun and fair with the folks of River Bend. Her chemistry with Gill was sexy and I enjoyed that there was practically no angst and one could enjoy the story, which had suspense and a twist I did not see coming. The story was well written and I highly recommend this romantic suspense. The cover of the book is also gorgeous.

Thanks to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for allowing me to read this e-book for an honest opinion.

This book is the third in the “Most Likely To” series, but it completely stands alone. You do not have to have read the other books to read this one. There is cursing in this one and on-screen sex. There is also talk of drug use but no actual on-screen drug use, and an awkward scene with underage kids making out (which is described in detail) and talking about having sex. If those things make you uncomfortable you might skip this one.

I really like Cathrine Bybee's writing and have very much enjoyed this series, so I was looking forward to this book, but I'm afraid that this one just fell flat for me. Even though I liked her in the first two books, I didn't connect with Jo at all in this one. Since I liked her from the first books and was intrigued by her “origin story” I forced myself finish this book so that I could find out what happened to her father. Also, although they were great in the first couple of books, I thought that the good people of River Bend (not her friends) came across as incredibly godawful in this one. If I had started the series with this book I would be baffled as to why would anyone want to live in a town full of people who judge Jo for “living in sin” (because apparently River Bend is stuck in a 1930's vortex) rather than be happy that she finally has a boyfriend – and a good, solid boyfriend at that? Imagine the judgment they'd cast if they knew that Jo completely and totally failed Smart Woman 101 and not only went back to a hotel with a total stranger to have a one night stand with the man, but she did so even though her “instincts” told her that he was a criminal AND that there was a weapon in the room. And she was totally unarmed. Don't misunderstand me, one night stands are fine and I have absolutely no issue with them, but she's a police officer, she should at least pretend to be safe about it and not to put herself in the worst situation possible. Thankfully this book is total fiction so instead of winding up a sad statistic, Jo wound up having a relationship with a really great guy. (And he was a great guy - I actually liked Gill better than almost anyone in this book.)

The mystery plot was the best absolute part of this book. I admit that going in I had a theory about what happened to her dad, and that changed when I started the book. Then I thought that I knew who The Big Bad was again and was very surprised at who it turned out to be. That plot line was really interesting and well-written. I also liked the Big Plot Twist (being vague to avoid spoilers) although I was sad that it happened at the end of the book because I would have loved a lot more of that part of the story.

While this wasn't my favorite Bybee book, it wasn't horrible either. I wouldn't buy this one to add to my collection (I own the other two and have read them both twice), I'm glad that I read it and now know what happened to Jo's dad.

I requested and was granted a copy of this book via NetGalley and was under no obligation to write this review.
