A bit of a wishy-washy book. Easy to read but not really one I'd go back to.
The story revolves around Nina who impulsively buys a house on a Caribbean island and is set around her first few weeks living there. Within this time she meets all manner of locals and gets embroiled in a mysterious kidnapping. It's neither romance, mystery or thriller.

What a great book with a series of twists along the way! Nina Stark has just separated from her husband after learning he had an affair. Nina is looking for a change, and in the wee hours of the morning decides to try to purchase an island cottage over the Internet. All works out well for Nina and the cottage becomes hers in Pineapple Cay.

The characters Nina encounters after her move to Pineapple Cay all have great or interesting stories about their lives and how they arrived at Pineapple Cay. I loved seeing the friendships Nina developed after moving to the island where she didn't know anyone. Hats off to Junie Coffey for allowing Nina to focus on herself before falling head over heels for a man and allowing the romance to slowly to develop.

The drama twist of the book has twists and turns that keep you wanting to read more to see where the adventure takes you.

I would highly recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

5 stars for this exceptional well written entertaining book.
This is the definitive summer read. I loved the main premises of the book of a woman who walks away from her life after buying a house on a tropical island online. As she eases into her fabulous new life the reader is swept away by her new life, the rich descriptions of Island life and how she navigates from a high powered career life in a city to a gorgeous cottage on a bay with sheer delight and ease. s Its every single woman's dream to live this life! The supporting characters are rich in detail and all add to the story. Its a delight from page one and I was so entranced I was unable to put it down , Very well done to the author. I look forward to the next by this author.
Thank you for the ARC which did not influence my review.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Pineapple Cay series written by Junie Coffey. Thirty-six-year-old Nina Spark has done something crazy. After knocking back a night’s worth of wine, she’s bought a house in the Caribbean. Off the Internet. At 2:00 a.m. Committing to the most impulsive decision she’s ever made, Nina leaves her cheating ex-husband behind, puts her teaching career in New York on hold, and moves to Pineapple Cay—a land of white sand, cloudless skies, and turquoise waters. Her new life is off to a lovely start: she’s got a private beach, a handsome neighbor, and a cushy travel-writing assignment. Even Barry Bassett, a greedy land developer eager to push her out to make way for condos, can’t darken her sunny new outlook. But when Barry’s wife goes missing, along with a priceless jeweled necklace, Nina finds herself at the center of the island’s biggest whodunit. With her quirky but fiercely loyal new friends, Nina is determined to solve the mystery. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

This book pulled me in quick, within the first chapter. Their was no lolly gagging 'round with this one! It was so quick, in fact, that I feel like maybe something was missing from the beginning. More detail, more character development? Either way, it quickly continued to build momentum and kept me engaged. I will def be keeping this one!

It was two am and Nina just bought a house off the internet in Pineapple Cay. Three months ago she found her husband having an affair with his secretary. She looked thru her old photo album and recalled a trip to Jamaica and Florida. She is a journalist. She ended up going to Aspen on a business trip with her husband Darren instead of spending Christmas with her family. Nina boarded a plane to Pineapple cay. She took a leave of absence from her job. The house was small and quaint. It had only three rooms. She got a letter asking her to cover a news story about an emerald and other artifacts being donated to Pineapple Cay Museum. Dave her mailman whose nickname is Danish asks to go with her to this event. She says yes. There is a man named Barry who wants to buy her house to tear it down and build a condo. danish also appears

There is a man named Barry who wants to buy her house to tear it down and build a condo. Danish also appears thru out the book in other roles such as bartender and yoga instructor. The night of the party Tiffany Bassett is wearing the emerald around her neck. She goes to the bathroom and then turns up missing.

Join Nina on Pineapple Cay as they solve the mystery of the missing emerald. #judycoffey #sunbaked #summerromance #beachstory

Sunbaked is the first fun cozy mystery in the Pineapple Cay series written by author Junie Coffey. Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the advance copy.

I would like to thank NetGalley for an ARC of "Sunbaked" by Junie Coffey in exchange for my honest review.

I struggled through the first two and a bit chapters, but somewhere in the third chapter I found that I was enjoying the read and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book.

After Nina Spark’s husband had an affair, Nina had a few drinks and then bought a house in the Caribbean over the internet. And so begins Junie Coffey’s tale. She described the people and places so well that I stopped reading about Nina’s antics – I was there, experiencing them for myself.

I didn’t think I was a fan of the amateur detective genre, but I’ll happily read the next one when it is published.

Would that we could all buy beach houses off the internet! This is light, breezy reading. Nina takes charge of her emotions and her life. The mystery isn't twisty, making this more or less a cozy Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

A good summer reading book. 3/5 stars. Overall a cute book. Characters were very stereotyped. Writing was okay. Moved along at a good pace. Fun read but nothing really great! Thanks Netgalley for my copy.

Sunbaked by Junie Coffey is a fun, fast paced story that puts a fresh twist on 'beach read'. Nina Spark is looking for a fresh start, her marriage in crumbles after she finds her husband sleeping with another woman in their apartment. Three months later, she is trying to figure out where she lost herself, where the smiles went, when she became 'this' person. Over a bottle of wine at 2AM surfing the internet she finds the perfect escape in a cottage on a tropical island called Island Cay. Without so much as a second though she makes an offer and it's accepted! Packing only a small duffel bag she's off to start a new chapter. Her transition to happy, tranquil, island life is peppered with colorful islanders who both embrace Nina, and a few that make her question her decision, and she quickly turns to her inner Nancy Drew when a resident disappears. Fresh and different, with characters who will hold your interest, and a pace that moves. Also to note, for those that avoid plots that rely heavily on romance you won't find that here, attraction yes, a lot of graphic descriptions no.
I received a copy of this book from Lake Union Publishing via Netgalley. A review was not requested, all opinions are honest and my own.

This was a great beach read book. The author's description of the island made me want to book a trip to Pineapple Cay and escape the dreariness of Wisconsin weather. I want to live on a little island and enjoy the warm sun and beautiful beaches.

Nina decides to leave her cheating husband and buys a house in the Caribbean on a whim. She makes friends with local real estate agent Pansy and yoga instructor/postal worker Danish right away. Hi jinks ensue and the three of them are trying to solve a mystery much to the chagrin of the local police chief. A few fireworks later the mystery is solved.

I enjoyed the easy to read style of the author and found myself looking forward to carving out time in the day to read the story. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Loved this story. Can't wait to return to Pineapple Cay again to catch up with the locals. Not normally a mystery reader but couldn't stop reading.

This is a very fun read as well as a satisfying winter getaway if you can't actually get away. So much tropical island appeal that I actually began booking my getaway for next winter. I doubt though that mine will be quite as eventful, adventure-filled and action-packed as this one!

And in the case of 36 year old Nina Spark, the events that began when she moved to an island home she bought on the internet on a whim, soon showed her that she was made of far more than she ever could have imagined!
