I thought the idea for this book was very unique and I enjoyed reading it. I wondered a few times why Alice and Jake would sign a contract without doing more research about the organization, but not many people would think a pact designed to help their marriage would end badly. This was the first thriller I have read that focused on a couple and I liked seeing how Alice and Jake handled being involved in the pact both together and separately. I loved this story and I look forward to reading more by Michelle Richmond.

Very interesting premise, but book reads very slow. I struggled to finish. And regretted having spent the time reading it.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. So many twist and turns, you have no idea what's coming next. Well done !!!

i wanted to turn the page, I didn't want to turn the page. That is how you'll feel when you read this book. Alice and Jake are a newly married couple who get involved with a marriage cult, thinking it would lead them to a happy marriage but is that what happens? To say I was freaked out is putting it mildly!!!!

Wow! The premise behind this book was quite imaginative and intelligent! At times I felt horrified by what I was reading; almost embarrassed to read on like a voyeur who couldn't get enough. As a marriage counselor myself, I was intrigued by the mere notion and theory of the Pact, which made sense but required too much. I couldn't get enough and I wasn't disappointed with the ending. Very well written and quite cleaver and unique!

This book was really intriguing. There was plenty of action to keep me turning pages to the very end. The author made me really think about marriage and how far I would go to stay married and also to protect my partner. It was a very well thought out scenario!

The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond surprises at every turn. Engaging and page turning. A dark thought provoking novel which conjures up the unthinkable yet believable. At the end, I am glad I read it and took away something from it.

I received this unedited book for review. I highly recommend this suspense surprising book. The author kept me rushing back until I got to the end and wondering how it would end. Would this couple disappear forever or remain with "The Pact". Excellent writing with constant twists.

I received a copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was not like any other book I have read. The story line was creative and original, not predictable.
I enjoyed the author’s writing style. The narrator was the husband, Jake. I enjoyed getting a man’s point of view. I loved the marriage statistics and antidotes the author would add. For example, “A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.”
Some readers may find the book unrealistic. What made it more believable for me was the fact that Jake keeps lamenting on what he should have done differently and where he went wrong. It is more understandable that at the start of their marriage they might make a quick decision thinking the other was in favor of it. An example of good intentions gone wrong.

Tense and suspenseful with believably flawed characters. It's been a while since it been anxious to get back from work and finish a book - this was well paced and kept my interest easily.

I was expecting something more like chick-lit, but instead The Marriage Pact was a chilling and super creepy thriller. Uncomfortable doesn't even begin to describe how it left me. But if you look at the reviews, you'll see that's exactly what is keeping everyone talking. This story sticks with you, and days after you've finished the novel, you're still thinking back to it and its eeriness.
I've always held a strange fascination for cult-like behavior and beliefs, so it's easy to see why I found compelling the Scientology-styled pact the couple enters in this novel. This is a well-constructed example of why smart people do stupid, misguided or desperate things in the name of loyalty, personal growth, or honoring a vow. Do you want to stay together and eternally happy in your marriage? No problem! We can make sure you do. No one leaves, ever. Never mind all those red flags waving in your face.

This book was terrific. I loved the twists and turns and it certainly made you think. I would recommend this book to anyone . It is rare to enjoy a book this much and I am hopeful that this book will become a bestseller

Jake and Alice are newlyweds and are given a strange gift- an invitation to join The Pact. The Pact is cult whose main focus is to see marriages succeed. Their main rule is to not break the rules or if you do terrible consequences happen! This book is a creepy, scary, and thrilling ride and it will keep you up at night! Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Bantam for providing me an ARC for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book until the very last chapter.
The book had a little bit of that conspiracy feel that I enjoy. It had an almost Fight Club vibe with the secret organization. Most of all though, I enjoyed how it took general advice for maintaining a marriage that on the surface sounds great - and made it dark. It was an intriguing flip that had me super interested in the premise.
But that end. I really wish the last chapter had been different.

Not a bad book, Interesting plot. I did not really like the ending.

Newlyweds receive a membership in "The Pact" as a wedding present. The Pact works to extend healthy marriages, but comes with an in-depth manual. Breaking the rules comes with punishment, and membership in the Pact lasts for life.

Great book. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends, or a to any social media.

The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond
Newly-weds Jake and Alice receive a very unusual wedding gift—a membership in the marriage pact. Really, who wouldn’t want to be part of such a group that guarantees that your marriage will thrive? But getting into the Pact proves to be much easier than getting out as Alice and Jake discover.
This book was startlingly intense and thought-provoking. The twists and turns in the plot were amazing. The author does a magnificent job of keeping the reader off balance, never knowing what to expect, which must have been synonymous with what Jake and Alice felt.
The characters were revealed little by little and I grew more attached to them as the story continued. I was surprised at the ending, and left wondering what would happen to Jake and Alice.
This is not the type of book I usually read, but despite some four letter words expected of a secular publisher, I enjoyed the book. My thanks to the publisher for the free copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

It took several chapters before I actually got into this book, probably around the time Vivian first appeared or shortly there after, and even then there were still parts of the book that I really just skimmed over because it was a little too much information that was more background and not part of the current story. The story itself was good, an interesting take on marriage and cults, and overall I would say it was definitely worth the read.
