Absolutely fantastic! A definite must read. Add this to your list. Two twins who meet for the first time at their mother’s funeral and then spend the next bit trying to figure out why. It was fascinating to discover how the story would unfold.

DNF. I couldn't connect with this book at all and found it really hard to get into. I had high hopes for this, which is a shame.

A YA paranormal fantasy about twins?! Sign me up!
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this book, a departure from the author's usual style. I loved the characters, and the story was very engaging, but the beginning was a bit boring so it took some pushing through to get to the really good bits. The atmosphere was well crafted and the book became darker and darker as time moved on.... loved it.

This is really intriguing, with an engaging narrative voice. It's doing enough shocking things to keep me reading. It promises a bonkers plot, which is never a bad thing! I think readers will really enjoy this one.

Wow this book was amazing with all its twists and turns that quickly made this story full on addicting. I seriously need to see this made into a movie or a show on freeform!

Quinn and Piper, identical twins have never met, until the funeral of their mother. Quinn has grown up with their strict grandmother and never understood why her mother lived elsewhere and came of infrequent visits. Piper lived with both of their parents, and enjoyed a privileged life. There are hints about darkness that lurks in Quinn that may destroy them both-but this story has twists and turns that reveal the magical truth.

Wow, this novel threw me, I was constantly questioning myself at every turn of the page!

Terry has once again created a world that you can fully submerse yourself into, characters that are multi-dimensional and easy to relate to, and a plot that keeps you guessing, right until the very last word.
I love the strength in this novel, the slow and deliberate way we are shown the history of the Blackwoods and how it all intertwines. I also love the originality of the magical element within this novel. It isn't over done, nor is it cliche', just the right amount of magic for such a deep and dark tale.

This as a standalone is amazing, when I was halfway through, I wanted more, I wanted another two books at least. But upon finishing it, I found it was perfect as it is. A perfect standalone novel.

I feel like Book of Lies fell a bit short of being a really excellent read. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is still a good read considering the slow pacing, but I wish it could’ve focused more on the witch story part of the twins. Half of the story seemed so dragging that it took a while to get into despite the strong start. It picked up around 70% of the book, though, with revelation after revelation, twist after twist, it can get overwhelming. It was told in alternating POV of Quinn and Piper, and though the character building is good, I can’t seem to like any of the twins. Also, not a fan of the love triangle. But, overall, I’d say it is still a solid read and it is definitely something most would enjoy.

This book was just not working for me. The premise seemed really exciting, but the execution was lacking. The premise as written in the novel is terrible cliche and not believable. This unbelievability continues throughout the rest of the novel. Because of how heavily this book is based in magic, it needs to be firmly grounded in reality and it consistently fails to do so. Thus the magic is even more ridiculous, which waters down the whole plot.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

To say that I had no idea what was going on half the time was an understatement, but I enjoyed every second of it. There were so many twists and turns that I eventually stopped trying to figure out what was going on and just enjoyed the ride. Which is the evil twin? Who will end up offing who? Witchcraft? Read and find out. :)

I am not a big fan of this book mainly because it read like a creepy YA.
We get to witness all the shenanigans that twins get away with.
The premise of identical twins being separated at birth and reunited as teenagers was appealing but the story fell flat for me.
Maybe it was too slow ? maybe it was too YA/teenager boyfriend for me ? maybe it was to witchcraft ? I cannot really figure out why I wasn’t excited by the story.
It was annoying that the ending ties everything with a beautiful unrealistic bow.

I am very grateful to have receive this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the concept of the two twins, one good and one evil. I found it interesting the difference in the way they grew up. I struggled with feeling connected to them fully and at some points I forgot whose point of view it was. They weren't as distinct in voice as I'd have liked them to be. I also wanted more folklore aspects and felt that the most interesting parts were when the grandmother came into play. It took me longer to get through this book because I felt there wasn't enough keeping my interest until the last third of the book.

Such an interesting concept. Totally something I'd recommend to my students.

Book of lies by Teri Terry immediately pulled me into the story about twins separated at birth and then meeting for the first time when they are seventeen. Piper was raised by their mother, while Quinn was not. There's a mystery surrounding the twins and, while Quinn was forced to live with their grandmother, hidden away and having few unhappy visits from their mother, Piper enjoyed a happier and more comfortable life being raised by their mother. They both seem to be hiding secrets from others and each other. Supernatural forces take hold of the twins while the story twists and mysteries are revealed and secrets are told. I couldn't stop reading this book and finished it quickly. Great read for fans of mystery, suspense and a touch of the paranormal; 5 stars!

The twin’s background is shrouded in mystery that stems back to a curse placed upon their family that fortells of their demise. The question is, who is the deceiver and who is the honest one of the two? As the story progresses, the tale grows darker and darker.

In the YA Paranormal/Fantasy genre, it’s a pleasant standalone addition. It is also perfect to purchase and read during the Halloween season!

An enjoyable fantasy/paranormal style read! I'm thinking it would work well for the teen/YA demographic. I enjoyed it as an adult, but I do think that it's correctly placed in genre.

Well written even though it does take a moment to really get into the story. It's still a great read!

I'm a fan of this writer and in this book she overcame creating a story of suspense and tension that made me spend a lot of time thinking about life.
Piper and Quinn are separated twins because of a curse and what I found most interesting was the way Teri Terry led the plot, presenting every moment a situation that made me more intrigued about what was really going to happen to the characters.
The ending was amazing and I remembered the Chinese Yin Yang symbol and about how in life we always have choices, whether we tell the truth or we lie and we know that consequences will follow but we do not know what they will be. We get this chance every time.
Narrated in first person by each of the twins alternately, I was able to follow the doubts, discoveries and desires of each one and hope that everything could end well.
I loved the cover, very well chosen and combining with the plot, I just wanted a slightly different epilogue, but I remembered that this is the style of this writer.
,,5/5 stars

I love Teri Terry as an author and have enjoyed all of her other books. This one I found very different - it took me quite a few attempts to get into the plot and to get used to the characters. In all honesty I think that may be this book just wasn't for me. I would however recommend people who like the dystopian young adult genre!!

I really loved the idea of the book.
The execution of said idea was okay, but didn't blew me away and some parts did go in a direction I didn't expected and didn't really like.
The characters were just okay as well. In my opinion we just didn't get to know them well enough to be able to really connect to them.
But I really liked the writing style.
Overall I liked the book, but just didn't love it as much as I hoped.

The Book of Lies is about twins, separated at birth because one is evil. This book delivers on it's creepy and suspenseful premise. Although it wasn't a favourite ever book, it is one I'd recommend, especially if you're looking for a standalone paranormal book which can be hard to find these days! It's a quick read, with a fairly zippy pace and short chapters, which will appeal to lots of young people I work with, who feel intimidated by other longer books where there's no break for dozens of pages.
