Crimson wakes up in a cemetery - she does not know who she is, where she came from, or how she got here. However, she begins to explore the cemetery and make friends including a werewolf, a vampire, a lake monster, and a mad scientist. Together, they share adventures and try to determine where Crimson came from. I enjoyed this story, it is pretty wholesome and good for kids who are into spooky things without getting too spooky. This was a good start to the series and really set up an interesting world and plot line. I will say that I am a bit disappointed as the story ended with the second book in 2017 and did not really have a good conclusion, but since this review is for the first book I will say it was worth a read.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

I am sorry that I couldn't complete the book on time and it got expired. I am giving 1 star because of the book description. I liked the synopsis and that is why I asked for the book.

Unfortunately, I DNFed this book in the first 15%. It just didn't grab my attention.

A super cute "horror" graphic novel! It discusses important themes like friendship and discovering who you are as a person. The artwork is also very adorable and I love the attention for detail!

Stitched is one of the most endearing graphic novels that I've read this year. I am completely in love with the art style, the storytelling, the narrative and inner voice of our MC... I honestly cannot think of anything not to love about this story. I'm picking up a copy for a friend's birthday because this is absolutely the kind of graphic novel that needs to be shared.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read and review this book.

What a cute read.

Stitched follow this girl named Crimsom as she wakes up in a graveyard. and meets other "people" in hopes of finding who she really is.

The plot was weird, it seemed like everything happened too fast and it seemed to not follow any plot lines to be honest. The art in this is amazing though. Very colourful and cute, perfect for young kids.

I would recommend this for kids between 10 and 14 years old.

Stitched #1 is a middle grade graphic novel by Mariah Mccourt and Aaron Alexovich. The story opens with a patchwork girl waking up in a crypt with no idea of who, where, or what she is. Welcome to the Cemetery of Assumptions, a vast landscape of stones, mausoleums, and secrets. Home to monsters and mayhem, it may also hold the answers to her unknown parentage. Crimson is a resourceful patchwork girl and determined to those answers. Along the way, she meets the mysterious Wisteria, who has a tendency to change and a witch named Parameter whose spells tend to go awry. And two boys, Simon and Quinton, who make her feel something besides lost and confused. She must battle ghosts, zombies, and monsters in order to learn where she came from and who her real "mother" is. But will she do it alone, or will she have help from her new friends and unexpected crushes?

Stitched #1 is an interesting story with a fun and unique twist. I liked the characters, particularly Crimson and Wisteria. I also enjoyed the setting and the complications found in the haunted house. I think the entire cast of characters was well done and I liked that no character was all good or bad, they were flawed characters with flaws and insecurities- which makes them more real in my opinion. I really enjoyed the artwork, and the atmosphere of the story. It worked well for me. The only thing I did not like was the crushes and love interest sub stories. I think it was unnecessary, and I would have preferred more of a friendship focus, regardless of gender, at least a bit longer before resorting to romantic ground laying for future volumes. It did not ruin the story, I just felt that it watered down the goodness of the setting and characters. It would have felt more solid and had me more enthusiastic had Crimson thought more about her missing memories and evolving friendships than how 'cute' the guys around her were. I just think that it is too hard already to find good books without romance or the groundwork for it, while it may be more important in the plot for future volumes, it was just unnecessary adornment here.

Stitched #1 is a fun and has sweet but creepy elements that will appeal to a number of readers. I enjoyed the artwork and story and am hoping to see more from this series.

Written by Mariah McCourt and drawn by Aaron Alexovich, Stitched presents an interesting and curious story. A Franken-girl wakes up in a mysterious cemetery knowing nothing about herself or where she came from in the first days of her “life” meets the inhabitants of a very strange place.
This is a great first chapter for what I think is going to be a great story. The proposal is attractive and the plot, in general, is very easy to read. There is nothing that is difficult for the reader follow and understand; I mean, it’s a comic for children, but it’s still good for adults as well.
However, it looks like the author is more focused on pleasing the public that Stitched is intended for than in the content and story itself, as there seems to be several holes and loose ends that I hope to see filled in the next chapters. It’s a shame, but there’s still enough potential for this story to unfold in an interesting fashion.
Crimson (our Franken-girl) reminds me of the dark and funny characters I used to see as a kid on TV (characters I honestly miss, by the way), but she’s not that good those predecessors. There’s something missing, and I’m 99% sure that the reason is that “love-meant-to-be”. Hated it, completely. That single scene ruined almost the entire book for me…
However, there’s still hope for this to turn into a new series that I’m sure I could learn to like, as this is just the beginning. There have been better comics, sure, but knowing that Stitched started with a good foot and it’s the first graphic novel for kids wanting a little more edge makes it earn a lot of points.
Speaking on the art, I can’t say anything other than that I completely love it. It seems natural, and moves very fluidly to the eye. Everything is very comfortable and even the funny moments work as well as the darker ones. There are some panels that caught my attention and made me look at things deeper and re-read the entire scene just to fully grasp the magic.
Alexovich surely knows how to put a spell on the reader, mixing the panels all around the pages, breaking the traditional structure and covering the whole art space as if working in a big collage. There are no blank spaces, just wonderful drawings and colors everywhere.
The best part was to seeing the lettering combined with the art and the coloring, making it look like a part of everything and not just another element in the pages. Some sections I consider to be real pieces of art that I’d gladly hang on the wall.
I can say that, as long as you don’t expect a big elaborate story, you’ll easily fall in love with the charismatic character that is Crimson Volania Mulch. She’s funny, her friends are as well developed, and the setting takes you back in time to when you were just discovering the darker world that art can create.

Final Score: 3.5 of 5

Mix a little paranormal, a pinch of cuteness, a cup of mystery and adventure, and a sprinkling of great friends and will get this adorable story of a little girl all stitched together with no memory of her past. Crimson and her friends will steal your heart and intrigue you, leaving you just as curious about Crimson's past, and what adventures they'll find themselves in the midst of next.

Crimson Volania Mulch has just awoken to a new life where someone has been calling her name. With no clue who she is or where her mother is, Crimson ventures out into the world beyond her crypt. She discovers what it means to have friends, to be afraid, and to be brave. All along, she grows closer to finding her mother, who she is, and what she's capable of.

I loved this little horror comic for kids. It has every monster under the sun including our heroine Crimson or Crimy who is a patchwork of different girls. It sounds creepy but the way she's drawn and that amazing purple hair of hers makes her seem more whimsical. She's also very sweet and daring. She takes on challenges head on without any knowledge of who she is.

There's also Wisteria, a loyal werewolf friend Crimson makes who's angry side shows when the group is in danger or when she's trying to get a point across. Mental note: Don't make Wisteria angry.

Simon, a swamp monster seemingly infatuated with Crimson, is a lovable creature. He's a nice guy who reminds me of Beast Boy from Teen Titans with his silliness.

Parameter Jones, a witch or "magic technician" whose magic skills are rough around the edges, tests Crimson's patience. She confident with her skills even though she clearly needs more practice.

There's Crust, a two-headed badger hedgehog joins in when he's left out of Crimson's crypt, becoming her pet in the process. I love that he has two heads. It fits so perfectly with the story.

And finally there is Quinton, a stuck up vampire that catches Crimson's curiosity, but attitude doesn't impress her. I hope she doesn't get caught up in liking him too much if he continues with his attitude. Crimy's better than that.

Alexovich's (he drew Invader Zim guys!!!!) illustrations are perfect for this whimsical little horror comic. I loved looking at everything about as much as I liked reading about Crimson's adventures - that's to say I enjoyed it immensely.

Crimson is dealing with a case of amnesia.... I think. It's like she's trying to recall memories but no one knows her. There's this eerie voice in the background that comes from time to time to encourage her. It's supposed to be her mother. There are ghosts and zombies - so don't worry, all the monsters are included - that she faces that get her closer to the truth of who she is. I'm curious to see with all the dangers she's faced in her first days alive how the story will grow going forward.

The variety of characters and personalities has to be the best part of this comic. I enjoy stories that focus on friendships so Stitched made me happy in that regard. I think Crimson, as our heroine, has guts and a good amount of mystery to her. The illustrations are wonderful to look at as well. I'll be looking for the next volume in the Stitched series, hopefully coming soon.

Stitched was a cute read, with a little bit of spookiness added. I loved the characters that were introduced and how they all found a way to each other. Crimson is the main character that makes you wish she could just have it all already without having to go searching for it. I mean really, their little kids running around all alone.

I enjoyed the different settings and the illustrated pages that showed us every part of the Cemetery of Assumptions. The colors added made it so bright and colorful, bringing an even more vibrant and fun atmosphere. The characters moved from one setting to the next showing all around their undead neighborhood.

There was some missing information, that is probably being left for the next issue, but it made it harder to completely love this novel. There was nothing really given to the reader as to what happened to Crimson, how she can only remember her name, everything was kept hidden. It was one of the main things that just irked me a tiny bit.

Even though that part of it didn't make me a fully happy reader, the other parts of it made me forget that for just a little. I give that all to the characters because they really did make this graphic novel. I loved the pet also that Crimson gets from a mysterious unknown person and that it meant she would never be alone. All of it was enough to pick up the next issue once it's out.

On the one hand, this book was equal parts playful and kid spooky. I liked that juxtaposition for a child reader, just enough for a fun scare not enough to cause nightmares. It seems like its building towards some pretty interesting directions. And therein lies the problem. This is all building, foundation laying. A lot of random situations, no explanation, no real resolutions. It feels like the first few chapters, not a book unto itself.

Crimson wakes up in the middle of Assumption Cemetary knowing nothing but her own name - and she's only mostly sure about that. Even more alarming, she appears to be made up of several girls stitched together! In her explorations, she doesn't find many answers, but does discover ghosts, a werewolf who likes to paint, and various other interesting characters.
My only complaint about this book was that I reached the end too soon! I loved the artwork, the characters are likeable even in their flaws, and many of the situations were relatable despite the setting: peer pressure, insecurity and overconfidence, finding that boy you like is really a jerk... I look forward to seeing more of this series.

I didn't like this one at all. I thought the pictures were scary and creepy and I couldn't figure out what the story was about.

Stitched is about a girl who wakes up and doesn't know anything about herself. She is in a crypt and can hear someone kind of talking to her but still isn't sure what is happening. Upon awakening she encounters some pretty spooky things but makes a few friends along the way that are going to try to help her figure some things out.

This graphic novel has wonderfully vibrant art and the characters are creative variations of horror movie monsters - zombies, werewolves, sea monsters, vampires, witches but they are done playfully. The rag-tag group works together throughout the book, not without some issues, but does a good job helping one another.

The best part of this book is the monster dog/pet - because he really is a badger thing of sorts, named Crust. I found him adorable and want one.

This was a fun new graphic novel, I am glad that I got the chance to read it.

Crimson has just woken to the undead. She has no idea who she is or where she comes from. She makes friends easily and is not frightened by the darkness around her. She meets ghosts, sea creatures and even vampires and werewolves. She is happy in her new life, if only she knew where she came from. An interesting tale. Not fully developed yet, but I expect to see that in further volumes. The characters are fun, is illustrations vibrant for the undead, and overall a joy to read.

Adorable! I love young monsters and this issue is well drawn and colourful despite the gloomy atmosphere at Assumption Cemetery. I felt that it did a good job introducing all the players and made me look forward to future issues.
