Cute book about a dog who must be about 6 feet long. The illustrations are very cute with soft colors and the story is funny and will entertain small children. There are some big words you will have to explain to the kids and the kids will say those words cutely, like calamity.

To me, there is one scene where you are not quite sure how the long dog caused a calamity. Maybe that is for the kids to say. To me, the ending is not quite satisfactory, but who am I to judge! Ha!

My kid is in the phase of life where anything with "bottoms" is hilarious, so he was a big fan of this. Bartleby is such a long dog that his front half doesn't know what his back half is doing, and his back half is wreaking havoc. While he at first is too embarrassed to go on how walks, not his friends are able to help out. It's a simple story about someone/something who is different and how you can overcome any problem.

Soft-focus, colored-pencil illustrations have a whimsical appeal, with amusing expressions for Bartelby and a multiethnic cast of characters.

Very cute picture book that I think my younger elementary students will enjoy. Guaranteed to get lots of laughs and would make a great read-aloud.

This is a great little book about a dog. The illustrations are wonderful and colorful. I think children will love this book.

This book is just an average picture book. Bartlett is a very long dog who wrecks havoc every time he takes a walk because he isn't sure what his tail end is doing. The illustrations are above average, but the plot isn't that inspired.

First of all, the dog lives in a bookstore! If that is not something that appeals to you, consider the fact that any gangly, uncoordinated student will relate to a character who seemingly has no control over what his rear end is doing.

The dog in this story was indeed very long & caused all kinds of mayhem since he couldn’t tell what his other end was doing. The illustrations are really cute & the story is very appealing.

Julia Patton's The Very Very Very Long Dog is one of those silly, sweet children's books that is fun to read just because of its absurdity. Bartleby is the very, very, very long dog of the title. He lives in a bookstore and is beloved by all. The problem is that when he goes on his walks around the city, he can't keep track of where his back end is! Chaos follows in his wake. Traffic accidents, construction site mishaps, pedestrian collisions, and all sort of "crashing and bashing" leave people flustered and unhappy.

This makes Bartleby sad, so he determines to stay in the bookstore, never to go on the street and cause so much trouble. His kind friends put their heads together and come up with a solution. Dog loving children will get a kick out of Bartleby. Patton's illustrations are comical and cute. Every kid will want a cute, long dog like Bartleby.

The Very Very Very Long Dog is a picture book by Julia Patton with is currently schedule for release on December 5 2017. Bartelby is a very long and lovable dachshund who lives in a bookstore. He has a lovely set of friends who take him for walks through the city, but he has no idea that his bumbling backside leaves a trail of destruction and accidents behind him. Embarrassed that he has no control over his back end, Bartelby vows to never leave the cozy bookstore again. Can his friends help him find a way to help himself?

The Very Very Very Long Dog is a cute and fun picturebook about a dog that is so long that he is not aware of the havoc his back end leaves in his wake during his walks. His friends love him just as he is, but understand that Bartelby is heartbroken when he discovers the trouble he causes. I like that they find a solution, and that his friends stick by him and help, even when he does not know they are. It is a sweet, fun book with nice illustrations. I liked the story, and think many readers of all ages will enjoy it as well. There are just so many fantastic books out there that while I enjoyed it, it did not wow me.

Bartelby is a very, very, very long dog, and I'm a bit jealous of his life! He lives in a beautiful old bookstore, reads books every morning while eating his breakfast, and goes on a daily morning walk around town with his friends.

His life seems perfect, but Bartelby is so long that his backside sometimes causes trouble on his walks. His rear regularly knocks into things or people and causes traffic accidents. Bartelby's friends normally help fix the mess, but what happens when the chaos is too much?

The Very Very Very Long Dog is a cute, humorous story that kids will enjoy.

I tried and tried but couldn't get the book to open. I tried the help section on NetGalley but felt like I was going in circles and not finding a way to get the question I needed help with answered. I really would love to read this one but haven't been able to. Another reviewer said the same thing so I followed her lead and decided I'd review off of the cover. It's really cute and what pulled my attention in to want to read this book. I am going to try to request at our local library so I can read it and recommend to friends with kiddos.

Happy Reading!!!

I believe our patrons are going to fall in love with this story! Bartelby is such a sweet character who finds out that he's not perfect, but thankfully has friends to help him love himself just the way he is.

The Very Very Very Long Dog by Julia Patton is a sweet children's book that I truly enjoyed. The illustrations are calm and fun and seem to be geared towards early readers more than preschool children because of their calm colors.

The children in the story show friendship and consideration when helping their friend (the long dog) to be able to go out even though he is so long he accidentally causes problems wherever he goes. The dog's friends (the children) don't give up on him because it is a challenge to go in public together.

I think the book is a great example of kind and considerate children finding a way to help a friend. I like the calm color pallet used in the illustrations and love the book for children who are around 6-8. .

I received an advance reader's copy of this book for review purposes.

I cannot get this to open, therefore, I have not read it and cannot review it. The cover looks cute though - my son enjoys reading stories with dogs and probably would have enjoyed this one.

This is a cute story about Bartelby, a very long who lives in a bookstore (as do I). He likes going walks with his friends. Little does the dog know, his tail causes chaos. My daughter thought this was a funny book and she liked the pictures too.. Many thanks to Sourcebooks via Netgalley .

Bartelby is a very, very long sausage dog who lives in a bookstore and (just like me) loves to read. He has a group of loving friends who like to take him for his daily walks around town. Bartleby never knows what his back end is doing until he finds himself in trouble. His friends are always there to fix the problem, until one day they can’t. It is then that Bartleby realizes he is the problem. He becomes very depressed and refuses to leave the store. His friends love him so much they create a noisy solution to his problem, so Bartleby always knows where he starts, and ends.

I loved this warm story about a group of friends who accept each other no matter what. The illustrations are simple and sweet, utilizing pastel colors which are as warm as the story. It’s such a lovely story that would be well-suited for babies through age 6. The Very, Very Long Dog is available beginning December 5, and I will be purchasing a copy to give as a gift to a special little girl in my life. I hope she enjoys the ‘tail’ of Bartleby and his loving friends as much as I did!

I saw the cover and title of this book and it just seemed like something I needed to read. I am a doggie lover and find books about them endearing and this book is just that, endearing. The story is about Bartelby the dog, who is very long, and his butt causes problems when he goes on walks. So the story follows him on walks to see what happens and the destruction is a lot a fun to see in the illustrations. The pages are detailed and humorous and the dog is so cute as he realizes that he is the problem. I think all pet lovers and young readers will enjoy the book and its illustrations. While there isn't a lot of story or problem solving it is still a charming book. I found it delightful!
