A brilliantly helpful book for anyone dealing with depression. A very honest account with some great tips that may help people.

Another one of those books that i personally expected more from than what i was given, so i am guessing most issues i had with this book are equally personal.
Its not a bad book in itself it just doesn't offer any new or great ideas on how to deal with depression. So if you are looking for a book that basically gives you a bit of inspiration each day, go for it. If you need more, look for something else.

Review:

This book deals with depression and the hope that everyone can have by reading scripture and prayer. There is a scripture reading to begin the day and then a description or stories to go along with the scripture. This is not a self help book as much as it is a direction for you to follow, to help you feel better about yourself and the world. I enjoyed reading this book and thought that it gave me some things to think about and remember as I live my life day to day.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. I would like to thank NetGalley and New Hope Publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I cannot tell you how long I have searched for a book that would help me keep going despite my Clinical Depression. This is not a self-help book, but rather a book to help you uncover the hope to continue to fight and understand that it is not the end. I give immense props to the author because I felt that finally a Christian author who fully understands what depression is like and writes from our point of view.

The author goes into deep detail over ways we can find our hope through our daily walk with God in prayer, our Bible reading, and in our day-to-day lives. I went through a rough few months and being able to read this was truly a blessing in disguise. There were days I thought my depression would win and coincidently on those days, this book directed me to specific references in the Bible to where characters faced their own battles of depression and in their stead had discovered hope.

I full-heartedly recommend this book to anyone in need of hope and guidance through the darkness of depression.

"have you noticed how we use colours to describe feelings and actions"
Brenda Poinsett written a remarkably poignant work about depression. Where it comes from and how we can deal with it.
Christians will identify with the way she has identified depression in the bible but non believers would also be able to use her guidance.
Resurrecting hope is vital according to Poinsett, but you need to identify the source before you can begin healing. "Why am I so depressed?" PSalm 42.5
POinsett discusses many ways depression can begin and questions wether inertia causes depression or the medication to combat depression causes inertia. Every individual will experience it in their own unique way, and she argues that a situation that requires substantial readjustment from one may be a slight inconvenience to another.
Ponsett has written a book that will challenge the way people see depression. A must have for any church bookshelf.
