Refreshing! Loved this fun and sexy book! Loving this series of standalones!

The perfect combination of romance, drama, and proof that opposites do attract. Also that what is on the surface isn't always what lies beneath. It was rewarding to have a story where the "Villain" is truly the good guy with a modicum of morals, who justifiably gets the perfectly right girl. Honesty and respect play a large role here, never going overboard, yet serves up a feel good HEA.
This ARC book was complimentarily provided by the Publisher and Netgally, I am voluntarily providing my honesty review.

Royal Affair is book two in the Royals Exile series. The story line flowed well and it was well written. The characters Princess Charlotte and Media mogul Brooks were likeable. They had steamy chemistry and great interaction with eachother. I also liked seeing characters we meet previously. I'm liking this series and can't wait to see who's story we get next.

This is a wonderful series. I love the setting, the characters, the story.

Princess Charlotte is the spare heir to the throne and she’s very glad to not be the primary heir because she has major problems with anxiety. She’s the quiet twin, but one should never underestimate the quiet ones. She’s been lightly internet-stalking media mogul Brooks Walter’s social media accounts ever since he outed her family as royalty-in-hiding to the world at large. When she runs into him at a charity function and he’s as sexy and flirtatious as ever, she decides to throw propriety out the window and proposition the sexy, sexy man. She knows he’ll dig for secrets, but she doesn’t intend to tell hers and doesn’t believe he’ll use anything trivial he may find. And so things begin.
Brooks likes to wear the mantle of an asshole but he really isn’t much of one. His professional life is built around exposing the rich and powerful’s secrets and displaying them for all the world to see. It’s definitely not a noble profession, but he’s not particularly malicious about it. Even the expose on the Sinclairs wasn’t malicious – he was, in a misguided way, trying to set Charlotte free from living in hiding.
Brooks and Charlotte are cute together. Their affair includes hot lovin’, fun dates, and even a lovely “meet the family” long weekend on the Carolina Coast. When things inevitably blow up, Brooks needs to get his affairs in order and his priorities straight if he wants to win back the woman he’s thoroughly fallen in love with. Luckily for everyone involved, he’s more than up to the task.

Brooks Walker is everything that Princess Charlotte has been warned all of her life to keep away from. He's the man who publicly outted her family as royalty and forced them into the spotlight having to face their past fight for their future. So why does he also make her heart beat faster and her palms sweaty? She should hate him, she has been warned to stay well clear of him and to say NOTHING to him for fear that he will just publish it for all the world to see.
Charlotte could be a HUGE break for him in the publishing world...a story about her and her family has gotten him a lot of publicity in the past and getting the inside info straight from her mouth could set him up for life with a serious reputation. But when he gets the chance to talk to her her family is the last thing he wants to know about...he wants to know everything about this girl and he wants to be her safe place to talk about anything she needs to.
Their relationship wouldn't prove to be easy even on the best days! No one supports them or believes that Brooks has actual feelings for Charlotte and that he is trustworthy with her heart. But that wont stop him from doing whatever is needed to prove to her and her family that he is in this for the long haul and wont be selling her out for a story.

A bit of a unique twist on a royal romance - I really enjoyed this book. Brooks was a great character and I loved the chemistry between this couple.

This is the second book in the Royals in Exhile series and I loved it!
You know from the beggining that Brooks will eventually do something to lose Carlotte's trust. I mean, he's the reporter who outed her family, right? But that doesn't mean that this book is predictable. As you watch the story unfold, you'll be surprised by a few things.
I definitely give it 5 stars!

This is Charlotte's story and the journey to be with the man that has intrigued her online and in person. I enjoyed the back and forth between them. Watching Brooks realize that he was in further than he thought was definitely fun. Royal Affair stands alone although there are elements that cross over from book 1. The series is proving fun, and I look forward to the next book.
I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

Have you ever wanted to read a book where the villain got his happily ever after and he got it with one of the fairytale characters? Well, read Royal Affair because that is exactly what happens here. Starting off hot and steamy and ending with a very surprising happily ever after, Royal Affair made me run the gauntlet of emotions while reading it. I went from being insanely happy to almost depressed within the same chapter. Now, normally that would throw me off a book, but in this case, it made me like it more.
Royal Affair is also one of those books that eclipse the first book in the series. Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved it when I read Della and Colin’s romance. It was just that it was missing something and I couldn’t put my finger on it. Then I read Royal Affair and went, “Ahhhh, that’s what’s missing.” What was missing was genuine feelings that developed between Brooks and Charlotte. Della and Colin didn’t have that (read my review on Royal Scandal….it is linked above).
I really liked Charlotte. She was so sweet and had an innocence that just made you want to shelter her even more than she had been. She has been through a lot. From the deaths of her parents to finding out who her biological father was (read the book if you want to find out) to being outed by Brooks. she has been through the wringer. It left her with anxiety issues and honestly, as a person who suffers from anxiety, I really liked that the author chose not to make her issues go away. Instead, they were right out in the open and she was dealing with them as a regular, real life person would do. There are a couple of huge secrets that aren’t revealed until halfway through the book. Both I didn’t see coming….at all and both made me go “No way” when they were revealed. So, slow clap to the author for doing that!!
Brooks, who was made out to be a jerk in the first place, really wasn’t that bad of a guy once you got to know him. He had a razor-sharp wit and he knew how to negotiate a bargin….which is what he did when he first made that deal with Charlotte. He was a business person up until David contacted him with an envelope and some damning information about Charlotte and Imogen. He just couldn’t open that envelope. It was then that I knew he had serious feelings for her.
Besides that two plot twists that I named above, there is one that I saw coming from a mile away. It is my only complaint about the book is that. I really wish that it didn’t go there.
The sex between Charlotte and Brooks were very, very hot and they did the nasty in some pretty interesting areas. Just read the book to find out where 🙂
The end of the book was pretty bittersweet. It was sweet because Charlotte did get her heart’s desire but bitter because Brooks had to take such a personal hit. I loved the epilogue and can’t wait to read Theo’s story!!
I did have a couple of questions:
Was Briggs accident truly an accident? Because with everything that was going on I wouldn’t have been surprised if it wasn’t.
Who sent that text to Brooks? If it wasn’t Charlotte and if it wasn’t Imogene….then who was it?
Why is Davis so darn slippery? He is seriously starting to annoy me
How many stars will I give Royal Affair: 4
Why: Great characters, an engaging plot and hot sex equal a fantastic read
Will I reread: Yes
Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes
Age range: Adult
Why: Sex, violence, and language
**I received a free copy of this book and volunteered to review it**

3.5 Stars. Curiosity made me pick this book up. I wondered how the author would make this plot work because after the happenings in book one our hero, Brooks, appeared to be more foe than friend to the Sinclairs.
Charlotte is a princess. Bound by duty and family. She comes across as a naive but enthusiastic woman who spent much too long in a guilded cage. She is optimistic and eager to spread her wings.
Brooks is a sexy, ambitious man that values truth and honesty. As a result, he has created a successful media company that has made him a household name.
The sexual tension between Char and Brooks was strong. I enjoyed their perceived comfort with one another despite a short acquaintance. Given a little more time, their development would've been that much stronger.
The writing was good though the plot had several conflicts. Some that were interesting and others were a little harder to follow. I would say that to really appreciate the plot, it'd be best to read the previous book.
Safety: No others for either. Neither are virgins. No rape or abuse.

Royal Affair is book 2 in the Royals in Exile series. It is full of forbidden love, sexy passionate sex scenes and royal sweet read.
Princess Charlotte, is the twin to her sister who agreed to be Queen, is considered the spare but is given a bit more freedom than her sister. She is very shy and is standoffish but that is because she doesn’t know how to make friends so she comes across as a bit cool to people. All Charlotte would like is to have her own fairy tale for her own- a prince finding her and she finding her HEA and having a family of her own. Charlotte has a crush on Brooks and has been somewhat following him secretly around for a while. What she doesn’t know about Brooks is he is really Brooks Walker is a journalist and owns Walker media and exposed Charlotte’s family secrets.
Brooks has an agenda when he starts flirting with Charlotte and their little “meetings” give him a way into finding a way to expose the royals and he can get huge headlines out of this. But he is completely gobsmacked when Charlotte suggests an affair between them. He agrees and this is on intense affair which shows a completely different side to Princess Charlotte. Charlotte finds she is falling deeply head over heels for Brooks and Brooks finds he isn’t so immune to Charlotte like he thought. Feelings are evolving between the two. Will these two find their way to a HEA or will secrets have a way of tearing these two apart …for good?
I really enjoyed the witty dialogue and the predicable storyline while the passion and heat between the main characters was fantastic! I cannot wait for book 3 in this series.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

I wish I had read the first book in this series more recently. The storyline was good, and characters well developed, but I had forgotten much of the plot of the first book in this series that it took me longer to get back into the storyline than I would have liked.

Known as the spare princess Charlotte has tried to live her life out of the spot light. But a princess can't hide forever, specially a Sinclair Princess.
Charlotte craves to be loved and seen for who she is without a title. A title that she doesn't want to have. A title that would keep her prisoner in a life she doesn't want.
Brooks is the king of telling the truth and unveiling secrets. The man that brought the Sinclair's out of hiding, his is persona non grada to all except for Charlotte.
A journey into self gratification and arrangements threatens to tear down the walls she has built but also bring to light a truth her and her sister have been hiding for years.
Passion, lies, secrets and suspense this book has it all. Thrilling, sexy and loving Brooks and Char will light the pages of your heart as you read the story of how they fell harder than either one of them anticipated.
A royal affair that will have you crying for the crown.

Royal Affair is a modern day royal fairy tale with a twist. Charlotte is the "spare princess" of the Sinclair family. She's the queen's twin sister and is figuratively locked up in her tower, a tower she wants to break out of. She wants the freedom to just be. Brooks Walker is the villain in our royal fairy tale. He's the man who outed Charlotte's family to the public. The CEO of Walker Media, a dreaded journalist, someone who's always after dirt about people in power. And who's more powerful than royalty?
So when Charlotte, the wallflower princess, offers Brooks a proposition, a sexual proposition, that they engage in a no strings affair so he can have access to the secrets of her family, but that he can't print anything without her say so and approval, and that anything private (said within the bedroom) stay private, who is he to say no? Of course he goes for it. Goes for it in all kinds of dirty, scandalous, a little dominating ways. And he and Charlotte are having the time of their lives. But, when Charlotte starts to fall, she knows she has to protect her heart from the villain. And when Brooks is offered up information from a less than credible source that could break her family apart, but would be a boon to his career and his company, what should he do? Does he protect the woman he's starting to fall for or does he advance his career and his company? He's the villain, not Prince Charming, so he knows what he SHOULD do, but will he do it? Will his heart allow him to do it?
I really like Royal Affair. It's sweet and charming and all kinds of sexy. Charlotte is adorable and Brooks is a sexy, but sometimes ass, of a villain, and Charlotte and Brooks' families are both interesting and well developed. I'm really looking forward to Theo (one of Charlotte's brothers) and Merritt's story. And I'm really hoping there's a story for Gen (Charlotte's sister and the new queen) and Devereaux, Gen's bodyguard, because those two generated some serious heat in the few scenes they were in.

I loved this book. I enjoyed the chemistry between characters.
After reading this book I decide to purchase the Fall series.

This was a light & fun book to read. I have not read any other books by this author. The book was well written & even though the plot seems cliche, the author did a good job keeping the story interesting. I know this is a book in a series, but it was an easy read as a stand alone book. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

An excellent book with a steamy romance and the question of love versus duty and responsibility.

4.5☆ A Flirtatious and Risky Affair
Once again another fabulous book by Marquita Valentine.
Royal Affair is full of passion, forbidden love and steamy hot sex scenes.
This is the second book in the series and I do recommend you read the first book to start with. As there is a huge storyline in the first book you don't want to miss.
Ok so..... Princess Charlotte is the main character in this story.
Brooks works in the media. He was responsible for the scandal coming out about the Royals in the previous book.
So why oh why does Charlotte have a huge addiction/ stalker behaviour towards him!
Answer.... he is forbidden.... she craves what she can't have.... hmmm.... or can she!!!... have him I mean!!
When Brook turns up at a charity event and Charlotte runs off into the night with him against her brothers will.
Things were about to change for Charlotte forever.
Brook also wants what he can't have.... the inside gossip and scandal of the newest Royal family..
So when Charlotte makes Brook a deal he ponders but even he knows it's too good to be true!
They embark on a dangerous liaison, red hot passion, forbidden meetings and lustful romps.
But to what cost is either of them willing to give up!
It's exciting and a real page turner.
The reason I have 4.5 is because although I loved the story, I missed the depth of the first book.
This book I feel lacked a little of the beautiful story from book 1.
It was passionate but it needed a little more story line.
Then it would of been 5+.
I loved Charlotte, she often leads with her emotions rather than her head. But that is what makes her endearing and likeable
She's not like the other Royals she has a zest for life and she's not afraid to go after what she wants.
She has issues but when she is with Brook she seems to be able to overcome them.
Brook... now he is enchanting!
One minute I wanted to shout at him and dislike him, the next he melted my heart. He does have a softer side he just hides it well.
He could be ruthless yet with Charlotte, she seemed to bring out the best in him. It was delightful to see the lust develop into love.
I can't wait to see if there will be a book 3. I don't think we have seen the last of the Royals yet!
Overall a fab read, exciting page turner, forbidden love, full of passion and a zest for life.
I highly recommend this book to Chick Lit, Romance, possible Romcom and women's Literature. Although this book can easily be enjoyed whatever genre you enjoy.

Such a sweet romance. I adored this story and couldn't stop reading until the end.
