Lisa has a strong voice that both encourages and challenges. The declarations in this book were on point, and it really made me want to get up and do the thing—walk out my faith.

This book was quite through provoking. The title prepared me for a battle, but I had no idea i would be so convicted. Lisa's words are powerful! This book is for any woman who struggles with fear, whether she knows it or not! Lisa is a strong woman who delights in empowering others. I didn't know much about her before reading this book but I was not at all disappointed. I will be following her on social media and looking forward to more of her work.

I was so excited to start this book, and it didn't disappoint. This book blew me away.

This book is about overcoming the fear that seems to surround us and becoming the warriors God has called us to be. This book was such an encouragement to me. As a missionary, most people think I'm "fearless" when that couldn't be further from the truth. I deal with fear just as much as anyone else. Lisa talks about how to develop a warrior spirit and how to avoid being overcome by fear. Y'all, I highlighted so much of this book. There is so much wisdom in it, and I really feel like it's a timely book. Everywhere we look, people are terrified but not many are fighting. She talks about being prepared even to the point of death to follow Jesus, warrior boots on. Because we're constantly in a battle whether we know it or not. If you struggle with fear, you need to go to the store or the library and get this book right now.

While I've been following the author on social media for some time, I had not read any of her books.

Thought this had a catchy title and description.
Plus couldn't we all use a little boost these days?!?

I enjoyed this book.
Thought it was filled with nuggets of wisdom.
Even highlighted many passages on my Kindle, which might be a first.

Ms. Whittle backed up her ideas with Biblical knowledge.
Made me see a few things differently.
And left me with plenty to think about... and work on.

Each chapter was followed by a guide to be used during Bible Study, with a group
or on your own. While I read the questions, I didn't delve in deep.

“There's no better time than this moment to put on your warrior boots and discover the fearless
life you've been called to live.”

I received this electronic book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this opportunity!

Given the frightening state of the world, Lisa Whittle exhorts us to become spiritual warriors ready to stand firm in any and every challenge. Brimming with passion for God and the call for all Christians to stop being lukewarm in their faith, she tells us how.

And how do we put on our warrior boots and become, as she says, Jesus strong? We prepare ourselves, by knowing what we believe. In other words, we read the Word. Daily. That gives us the power to stand firm in our faith, even unto death. We prepare ourselves, by being ready to give our testimony to anyone and everyone. We prepare ourselves, by choosing God before all else. That means spending time with Him before family, church, careers, hobbies. We prepare ourselves, by following Him not just some days, but every day, forever.

I’ve read a number of books on discipleship over the years. Kyle Idleman’s Not a Fan: Becoming a Completely Committed Follower of Jesus comes closest in theme and execution. But Kyle’s book does not pack the same punch. If you read Lisa’s book, that is full of illustrations, declarations, and marching orders, be prepared to become a warrior for God. Onward, Christian soldiers.

Oh my stars. Wow. I will start off by saying I don't think I've ever highlighted a book as much as I did this one. That's how good it is. So prepare yourselves, because I'm going to share a few favourites of Put Your Warrior Boots On.

Let's start off by admitting something: we live in a culture of fear. TV, news anchors, social media and the ability to believe and act however we want has lead us into a culture of trepidation. In the few weeks since I have downloaded Put Your Warrior Boots On, there have been multiple terrorist attacks. Manchester. London Bridge. Kabul. Damascus. The way I feel, I recover from the emotional stress of one attack, and then there is always another one. The fear we feel in this world is suffocating.

Put Your Warrior Boots On deals with this kind of fear in the most beautiful way. Whittle understands the suffocation, and she meets it where it's at. But she calls us to rise above the fear, to walk Jesus strong. As she says early in the book, "God is calling me to be strong because of His confidence in who He is—He who lives in my heart and leads my life. Powerful is His gig, not mine. Fearless is His definition, not mine. His call on my life isn’t about who I am, but who I can be. He is calling me out to be a woman who is grounded and sure. A warrior, steadfast in the faith, not a Christian curled up in a nervous breakdown on the floor."

This book made my heart do that weird thing where it feels like it's being broken and being restored, all at the same time. You ever felt that? I think the word we're looking for when we feel like that is conviction. Whittle really dug deep into my heart and pulled on that small voice that told me what she was saying was true. The conviction started with Lisa saying this:
Where is our inner warrior? Where is our Jesus strong life? Where is our willingness to put down what makes us soft and develop what helps us endure? Why do we settle for flimsy-soled shoes when He’s called us to walk in warrior boots of spiritual confidence, hope, and grit?...

The life of a victor awaits us, but we settle for worry. We whiteknuckle our way through crisis after crisis, flying our freedom flag but being thrown back in bondage with every hill. This isn’t freedom. This is wishful thinking. So let’s go find it, our victorious life. Let’s have a new strategy. Let’s get prepared before we meet the hill. Let’s put our warrior boots on and walk in them for the rest of our life.

I am a chronic worrier. I know this, because when I'm trying to have a nice quiet time with Jesus, what is it that always gets me distracted? Worry. Every. Single. Time. I joke with my sister that Satan knows my weak spot, and he tries to get in the little crack called 'Anxiety' or 'The Undone To-Do List', when I'm trying to spend time with God. So Put Your Warrior Boots On really spoke to me, because it encouraged me to lay some of that worry down at Jesus' feet and walk Jesus strong. Put Your Warrior Boots On talks about shining Jesus' love to others, being brave in our witness of His light, and not letting Satan lose. It talks about giving God a fierce love, a loyal dedication, challenging yourself to rely on Him and making Him the focus of all of our attention.

Most of all, Put Your Warrior Boots On talks about suiting up. Getting ready. Putting the boots on, instead of just talking about it. Lisa continuously reminds us that the time to start walking Jesus strong is now, today, not next Monday or next week, or when it's finally a better time. As she says near the end of the book: "What I can tell you today is that our circumstances do not need to be made right for us to walk this life out strong. We don’t need to understand them or make them make sense. Most of us have tried this route and wound up in exhaustion. We don’t need to brave ourselves into ready because brave is off the table. We just have to make the decision right now that walking Jesus strong in warrior boots is what we want and living the life declarations we’ve talked about is what we will do. We need no other information to make this decision than what we already know. Jesus never asks us to feel ready; He asks us to be ready."

As I write this review, my Spotify sings me a sweet song. Lion & the Lamb, by Big Daddy Weave. What does it tell me? "Who can stop the Lord Almighty." Truer words have never been spoken. As it says in Psalm 27, "The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?"

As Whittle closes her book: Warrior up, ladies. Put them boots on, and start walking Jesus strong. God is on our side, and we have nothing to be afraid of anymore.

I was hooked from the very first few lines. Women need this book. We need to banish fear and believe in the power we have in Jesus Christ. Part of me wanted the cliff notes version of this book. I wanted to skim over some things I thought were redundant and get to the meat. Ms Whittle does a great job of thuroughly describing the current state of affairs. Then she slowly peels back the layers and through stories, bible verses, examples etc she pushes you toward the meat. She does a great job of inticing the reader to realize their current state and push them towards where we should be (or should want to be). Great for all Christians; baby believers and veterans (which doesn't insinuate age... a veteran believer can be 30... and a baby believer can be 75!). I love that Ms Whittle pushed for the Bible study to be apart of the book. Other books make you purchase the "study guide" separate. It's so nice to have it all together. I wish other books were this way too. Love this book.

Put Your Warrior Boots On

Walking Jesus Strong, Once and for All

by Lisa Whittle

Harvest House Publishers

Christian , Religion & Spirituality

Pub Date 01 Jun 2017

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Put Your Warrior Boots On through Harvest House Publisher and Netgalley:

We are reminded in this book that it is not about who we are but about Who Jesus is? And we are reminded too that Fear has nothing on God who has the solution for fear.

The author tells us that there will be times we want to play not pray, but it is praying that saves our lives. We are reminded too that we don't need Spiritual decorations, but declarations,

We are reminded too that though Grace is wonderful, it comes through Holy and Righteous grit. The author points out that a sound mind conquers fear, because it is mostly our thoughts that terrorize us. We are reminded that to have a strong sound mind we have to fortify it with the Word of God.

The questions at the end of each chapter allow this to be useful for either personal study, or for a Women's Bible Study.

I give Put Your Warrior Boots On five out of five stars.

Happy Reading.
