This book has so many beautiful drawings throughout, whilst also conveying the story of Beauty and the Beast. It was a nice little read and I'm glad I got to read it. The only thing I could suggest to improve is to introduce the concept of the characters that are under a spell a little more. If someone hadn't seen the movie of Beauty and the Beast before, they wouldn't know why the kitchen utensils are talking until the end of the book, which could be confusing.

This is a manga adaptation of Disney's Beauty and the Beast movie. It is told in Belle's perspective. I like the concept of having twin books. But because it is a different platform, the story is in a rush. The illustrations are beautiful like common mangas. Nothing new about the plot but I still want to have a hard copy of these books.

The manga adaptation of Beauty and the Beast was a surprise! Not only did it have more depth on Belle's feelings but also more funny moments.

The art in some parts felt a little rough and not so detailed but some scenes, like the library and Belle's house were amazing! I will defenitely buy the manga editions!

Disney Beauty and the Beast volume 1 and 2 are shojo manga adaptations of Disney's live action "Beauty and the Beast". A direct representation of the film in manga-form, the 2-book volume lacks the musical numbers evident in the films and exchanges them for thoughtful inner monologues, however, offers little to nothing new about Belle or the Beast.

Although, there is nothing extraordinary or different to be found in the manga, both volume 1 and 2 are fun to read and a good addition to any fan of the Beauty and the Beast story.

I liked the art style and the extra info at the end (character designs and layouts).

But honestly, the manga doesn't offer anything new. It's exactly like the live-action Disney film, minus the musical numbers. There isn't much emphasis on Lumiere and the others.

Volume 1 is supposed to be from Belle's perspective, which aligns similarly to the film. Volume 2 is from the Beast's perspective, and I just wish there was more characterization for the Beast, but again, it's just like the film.

All in all, it's a fun read and a great addition for a fan's personal library.

This volume of the manga tells the story of the live action Beauty and the Beast through Belle's eyes. I really enjoyed the art style and I enjoyed the story through Belle's perspective. And I liked being able to see what happened to her mother.

It is a beautiful comic. I really enjoyed reading it. I love the character design and it follows very close to the film. The only negative thing I have to say is that it sometimes felt like that there were pages missing and it jumped from scene to another. I would defiantly would recommend. It would make a great addition to any Beauty and Beast collection.

Beautifully illustrated. It takes a lot of skill to transform a movie (moving shots) into a book. They did it wonderfully. The pages come alive and I relive the actual movie again.

Excellent summary of the story given one perspective.

This is a dual review for Mallory Reaves pair of Beauty and the Beast manga novels (Disney Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Tale and Disney Beauty and the Beast: The Beast's Tale respectively).

These are illustrated Tokyopop manga adaptations of the new Disney live action Beauty and the Beast movie. They are charmingly illustrated and do a nice job of translating the revised movie plot to the page. The books act as bookends to each other, each covering the same amount of time, but from opposite points of view (Belle's view in book 1, and Beast's view in book 2). There are some shared illustrations/panels from book to book, but each book still offers its own unique perspective and are more fulfilling when read in the paired sequencing.

I'm a huge Beauty and the Beast fan and also loved the movie. While these books did not offer any new insights or add any new plot twists (again, it's a straightforward adaptation), they did make me smile and are great for anyone who enjoyed the movie or who is just a fan of Beauty and the Beast or Disney manga.

I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love the classic Beauty and the Beast animation from the 90's as this was what I had grown up with. This bought me happiest, as I felt when I watched the film a few weeks ago. I do believe that you need to know the story for this book as you can fill in the missing details which have happened. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the 2nd book.

3.5 rating. This manga added nicely to the tale I've come to know in my life as a child. The drawings are beautifully done, I just imagined colour. Some things added made a little more sense, but nothing too much different happened. At first I had to get used to finding text not in a bubble, which meant what she was thinking versus what she was saying. All in all this was a lovely book.

Belle's Tale (Disney Beauty and the Beast #1) by Mallory Reaves is written from Belle's point of view. I liked this style because we get to know what Belle is thinking and how she is seeing things. This comic is an adaptation to the new movie. It is well executed and well drawn. It was a quick read.

The art in this book is nicely done. I feel like the illustrator did a great job adapting the film for a manga-style book while still keeping the feel of the original source material.

This volume covers the entirety of the film. I think it was an interesting choice to make two volumes, one from each Beast and Belle's points of view. By giving each of the main characters their own volume, it allows you to know more of what the character is thinking in any given scene.

Overall, Belle's Tale was very enjoyable and was a very close adaptation to the film. I'm glad I have volume 2 to pick up right away as the book does feel a bit incomplete without the Beast's scenes. I highly recommend this for Beauty and the Beast fans and it could be a nice introduction to manga for those unsure if they would enjoy the format.

I received the book from Diamond Book Distributors and Tokyopop via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was perfect! It was a book I did not know I needed, a manga version of the newest Disney live action movie!

Volume one was special as it allows the reader to see into Belle's mind and what she is thinking throughout the story and it lends another perspective onto the fairy tale. She is completely 3 dimensional through this with her feelings being known which helps the reader understand her actions throughout.

The art is amazing! It is enough like the movie that you can recognise the real life characters but enough in the manga style to suit the medium. It was great to see the big scenes from the movie drawn out on the page and it was definitely a must read for me.

I would recommend volume 1 and 2 for any die hard Beauty and the Beast fans who need a little bit more in their life!

This was a great little graphic novel. I had a lot of fun reading it and I enjoyed seeing the story through Belle's eyes!

With the movie releasing now, it was almost perfect to dive into this one. only hard thing was to read it because of the "Review Copy" watermark.. Also is the story backwards or was it only like that for me..

If you've seen the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast then you will enjoy this manga. The style is distinctly manga but not too flowery and you can still see the resemblance to the famous characters. Enjoyable and a great companion to a junior novelization. A worthwhile purchase for our library.

This is the story of live action version of Beauty and the Beast from only Belle's point of view. The story is followed very closing with only a few differences. The drawings were very detailed and accurate to the live action movie. This would be a good read for middle grade or any one that is obsessed with all thing Beauty and the Beast.

Great complement to the new live action movie (which, as a Beauty and the Beast hardcore fan, I loved!).

I love manga so I was super excited to see one of my favorite stories adapted into the format. I immediately requested it when I saw it on Netgalley.

There really wasn't anything new to the story in this comic but it was a nice blend of the old animated Disney movie and the new live-action adaptation. It covers the entirety of the new film but only from Belle's point-of-view. My favorite thing about this volume was the art. The illustration style was beautiful!

I found this to be an enjoyable read and I was glad that I had the next volume from the Beast's point-of-view to jump into immediately after I finished. If you're looking for a way to get into manga, this series would be a good place to start. I can't wait to buy a copy for my boyfriend's daughter and my godkids!
