I loved this book!! Loved all the stories in the book!! Love these author's books!! Read this book from netgally!!

Isn't this cover beautiful!! I love the colors that are on it as well!!
This book has 4 different stories all written by my favorite authors!!
Normally I don't like that because they're too short!! I feel like I get into them and they're over just like that.
While it's nice to catch up on all the families and see what they are doing their story is over all too soon and sometimes I'm left wondering if we'll be reading about them again.
While reading this book it might be a little confusing at first but then as you get into it it is nicely done.
You also may come across with some tough issues that we don't normally read about in Amish books which makes these a lot more interesting!!
The Amish are an interesting people. I like how they want to live in the world but not of it. In many ways, they are just like us except they handle their issues of life differently.
I can identify with some of the characters in a couple of the stories the others I cannot.
I like the summer settings for these novellas. I think summer is one of my favorite seasons along with Spring of course!!
I strongly recommend this book for people who love reading novellas.
I received a copy from Netgalley - Thomas Nelson publisher
I'm sorry that this review is late but life just sometimes gets in the way.

If you enjoy a quick read, these four Amish novellas are the perfect book for you. It also includes four of my favorite authors. I personally enjoy the brevity of novellas as they can be read in one sitting. As a busy grandmother, I appreciate this immensely. Romance is definitely in the air in all four novellas.

I am rating this novella collection 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers.
My Review of A Reunion in Pinecraft: This novella makes me want to visit the Amish community in Pinecraft, Florida, although I think I would want to go at some time other than summer to avoid the humidity! This was a cute little story of two sisters who have an attraction to the same young man, which of course will make life interesting. Graham seems to see the benefits of spending time with the two sisters. Readers will be anxious to read to see what happens with this romantic triangle.

My rating for this novella is 5 *****

My Review of Summer Storm: I felt a great deal of respect for Jesse in this novella as he is honorable as he doesn't tell of his friend, Isaac's big mistakes. But he and Arianna pay the price when Arianna and Isaac's father forbid Jesse to continue his engagement with Arianna. Readers will want to see how this situation is resolved. Will Arianna and Jesse ever be able to marry or will their future be forever destroyed by Isaac's errors?

My rating for this novella is 5 *****

My Review of Lakeside Love: Wow!! I felt such empathy for Esther in this novella. She lives in the shadow of her beautiful, popular sister, Sarah, while they both share an attraction for Judah. Judah doesn't appreciate the special qualities that Esther possesses while she pines away for him. When the

good-looking, smart, and kind young Englischer, Rhett, arrives to stay in their home for the summer to learn about the Amish faith, the tables are turned and Esther is the favored sister while Sarah is the jealous sister now. But Esther only has eyes for one man and it's not Rhett. Readers will be turning pages as fast as possible to see how this sibling conflict is resolved. This novella by Kathleen Fuller is my favorite of the four featured in the collection!

My rating for this novella is 5*****

My Review of One Sweet Kiss: What is it about summer and romance? I felt quite nostalgic reading about this novella set in Texas as I had the privilege of living in Texas for three years. I didn't realize there were any Amish communities in Texas. Martha has had to assume a great responsibility for one so young when her mother dies and it is a challenge for her to allow Jacob into her heart. But he is determined to steal a kiss. Will they find a way to share a life together or will Martha saddle herself with the task of raising her siblings while forfeiting her own life?

My rating for this novella is 5 *****

My overall rating for this novella collection of four Amish romances is 5 stars. I highly recommend this collection to readers. I enjoy reading novellas as I can read one quickly when life is busy with so much activity.

·Lakeside Love by Kathleen Fuller·

·One Sweet Kiss by Kelly Irvin·

Everybody in little Bee County, Texas, can see the obvious: Jacob King and Martha Byler are meant to be together. Everyone, that is, but Martha. Ever since her mother died when Martha was a young girl, she has taken over the role of caregiver to her large family. And reckless Jacob, who has had a little too much fun on his rumspringa, only seems to add to the list of people to manage. But one summer changes everything, and these two may just find a way to meet in the middle and share one sweet kiss.

MY REVIEW

Each novella did well with keeping with the summer theme and how I imagined a summer would go for the Amish. I enjoyed each novella so much! I love reading the Amish fiction books that have three or four novellas and this one didn’t disappoint.

The only thing I sould have loved to see was more detail in “Reunion in Pinecraft.” The lack of detail in this novella is the only thing that I didn’t enjoy. I understand it’s a novella and they are short stories but just a little more detail about the characters would have made it a better read, in my opinion.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Shelley Shepard Gray

“I grew up in Houston, Texas, went to Colorado for college, and after living in Arizona, Dallas, and Denver, we moved to southern Ohio about ten years ago.

I’ve always thought of myself as a very hard worker, but not ‘great’ at anything. I’ve obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree…but I never was a gifted student. I took years of ballet and dance, but I never was anywhere near the star of any recital. I love to cook, but I’m certainly not close to being gourmet…and finally I love to write books, but I’ve certainly read far better authors.

Maybe you are a little bit like me. I’ve been married for almost twenty years and have raised two kids. I try to exercise but really should put on my tennis shoes a whole lot more. I’m not a great housekeeper, I hate to drive in the snow, and I don’t think I’ve ever won a Monopoly game. However, I am the best wife and mother I know how to be.

Isn’t it wonderful to know that in God’s eyes that is okay? That from His point of view, we are all exceptional? I treasure that knowledge and am always so thankful for my faith. His faith in me makes me stand a little straighter, smile a little bit more, and be so very grateful for every gift He’s given me.

I started writing about the Amish because their way of life appealed to me. I wanted to write stories about regular. likeable people in extraordinary situations-and who just happened to be Amish.

Getting the opportunity to write Inspirational novels is truly gratifying. With every book, I feel my faith grows stronger. And that makes me feel very special indeed.”

Amy Clipston

“A native of New Jersey, I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. I often joke that my fiction writing “career” began in elementary school as I wrote and shared silly stories with a close friend. However throughout school, I only considered writing a hobby, and I never dreamt of being an author.

In 1991, I graduated from high school, and my parents and I moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia. My father retired, and my mother went to work full-time. I attended Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, and I graduated with a degree in communications. I met my husband, Joe, during my senior year in college, a few days after my father had a massive stroke. Joe and I clicked instantly, and after a couple of months we started dating. We married four years later.

After graduating from VWC, I took a summer job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, which turned into an eleven-year career. I worked in the Public Affairs Office for four years and then moved into Planning as a writer/editor.

During that time, I continued writing for fun. It was something I did to escape stress and unwind. I didn’t share the stories with anyone except for a couple of close friends. In fact, I was even afraid to admit to my husband that I wrote.

Writing as a Career

One day while surfing the Internet for a professional editor’s group, I accidentally found a local fiction writing group, Chesapeake Romance Writers. I attended a meeting and I met writers in all stages of their careers. The group helped me realize that I did want to be an author, and it was my dream to see my name on the cover of one of my novels.

Through Chesapeake Romance Writers, I learned how to plot, write, and edit a novel, and I also learned how to pursue an agent. I signed with Mary Sue Seymour at the Seymour Agency in 2006, shortly before Joe and I moved my parents and our sons to North Carolina.

My dream came true when I sold my first book in 2007. Holding my first book, A Gift of Grace, in my hands was exhilarating and surreal.”

3. I was born in New Orleans, LA, raised in Little Rock, AR, was an Ohio transplant for twenty-two years, and am now back in Arkansas empty nesting it with my husband, James.

4. James and I have three awesome kids. Yes, they really are awesome.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book through Netgalley.
These are four wonderful Novellas by Shelly Shepard Gray, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin, all based on a Summer theme. I needed to find a book that I could sit by the pool and read. This was perfect! Each book was a separate story. I could immerse myself in the characters and the storylines because they were all very well written. If I had to pick a favorite I think I would say A Reunion in Pinecraft by Shelley Shepard Gray. I love the idea of old-fashioned pen pals and how things can get mixed up so easily! Plus it was enjoyable that the characters were also on vacation at the beach! All the stories were thoroughly enjoyable and I highly recommend the book. Each one can be bought separately but it was a real treat having them all in one book.

A Reunion in Pinecraft

I’m still chuckling over the fact that Graham got the sisters mixed up! I think that was a clever plot for the story. Thankfully Toby was around to charm one of the sisters, otherwise Graham would have found himself in a huge pickle! But what I enjoyed most about this story was the message. You cannot judge a book by its cover, you have to start reading the pages. Something that can be mediocre on the outside can be quite exquisite on the inside. A lesson and great reminder for us all.

Summer Storms

This novella reminds me that we are all just human, even the Amish (gasp!). We, as outsiders, tend to think that Amish people do not deal with certain issues like we do. Almost like they are immune to them. The truth is that they really do. They have all sorts of problems, just like us. What may be different is the way we handle the problems. This novella was a beautiful example of that. It was not just a love story. I was a story of family, friendship, and how important these relationships are.

Lakeside Love

Sometimes people have a hard time seeing what’s right in front of them. Judah was so sure he needed and wanted Sarah in his life. So much so that he couldn’t see something wonderful right in front of him – Esther. Sure, Sarah was beautiful on the outside, but Esther was beautiful on the inside, where it really counts. I loved seeing Judah an Esther blossom and come together, developing this strong relationship without even knowing it.

One Sweet Kiss

This was a great ending to this group of novellas. It was fun! People were doing stuff wrong, getting into trouble, acting immature. The story reminds us that we all need to grow up at some point, but maybe not too much. After all, I think Jacob will always have a bit of childish qualities in him, and that’s ok. It is what makes him Jacob. But the important part for Jacob was understanding when to have that, and when to act mature.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

While Jesse is helping Arianna into his buggy Tobias decides to race Jesse to his family's farm. Jesse now finds himself trying to win the respect of trust on not only Arianna but her father as well. Will Jesse lose the only person he has ever loved or will his love blow over like a storm.

Lakeside Love by Kathleen Fuller Esther is a plain jane type of girl who has a beautiful sister named Sarah. Judah works for the girls father on their farm and he has caught Esther's eye, but he has his eyes on Sarah who doesn't feel the same way. When englisher Rhett comes to stay on the farm and learn the amish way of life, he begins paying attention to Esther and not Sarah. As the summer days go by feelings begin to emerge and all four will find true love in their lives.

An Amish Summer is four novellas with great characters and scenes of summer by four authors. The characters seemed very real, and their stories seemed real. Reunion in Pinecraft has deceit, trust, and faith. Summer Storms ask the question if trust and respect can be rebuilt. Lakeside Love is the story of love, respect, and self-worth. One Sweet Kiss shows us that there is someone for everyone.

More concerned with your pride than being honest.

Four summer romances Amish style that deal with faith in the midst of misunderstanding and the maturity for growth.

A Reunion in Pinecraft- deals with a misunderstanding between sisters of mistaken identity. Sisters Sharon and Sherilyn Kramer have the attention of Graham Holland. Sherry and Graham have been writing letters to each other and that is how this sweet story starts. They arrange a mini vacation with Sherry's sister Sharon and Graham's friend Toby. However, upon meeting, Graham assumed he was writing to Sharon when they had first met at wedding. This triangle becomes a little awkward, but with Graham's good friend Toby encouragement, Graham must deal with what true attraction means and trust that God has a plan.

Summer Storm - A sweet story of trust and the sin of taking the one we love for granted. Arianna and Jesse are engaged to be married. They share a sweet love that is easy but things become difficult when Jesse comes in the cross hairs between his future father-in-law and brother in law. Wanting to protect Arianna's brother Issac from his own recklessness caused by the relationship with his father, Arianna thinks the worst of Jesse. Where once we did not have to fight for the love of his betrothed, he now must fight to win her back.

Lakeside Love -Sisters Esther and Sarah remind me of the Brady Bunch with this famous line Marsha Marsha Marsha only instead of Jan Brady saying those infamous words Esther is saying them about her sister Sarah. Sarah is in love with Judah who only has eyes for Sarah but the tide changes when a Englisher comes to live with Esther's family and he seems to be more at ease with Esther than Sarah. Of course the tables are turned Esther always being in the shadow of her beautiful sister is now enjoying being genuinely appreciated by their new visitor. Of course, Judah now notices this attention on Esther and begins to see Esther in a new light.

One Sweet Kiss- Jacob King has eyes for Martha Byler but the only thing Martha sees is Jacob's recklessness. Martha has raised her brothers and sisters since their mother's untimely death and she has no time or patience for a man to grow up and take responsibility. Jacob knows in his heart that he has done some reckless activities but he also knows that he can't let his English friend with his own family continue in his drinking ways. Can he show Martha that her heart can be entrusted to his? Can she change her perception of Jacob in his immaturity to one of joy?

Each of these stories reflect our relationships with others. How fear or insecurities can hurt these relationships and how love and faith can only encourage each other in the Lord.

A Special Thank You to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I love novella collections and the opportunity to read several stories by different authors, some of them my favorites. The summer theme was fun with the settings varying from farm to the beach to camping at a lake. In the first story, A Reunion in Pinecraft, I felt as confused as the characters who was going to end up together, and it was interesting to see the direction the author took. The second story, Summer Storm, was full of angst and misunderstanding. I loved how Jesse proved himself to be devoted to Arianna and her family. My favorite of the collection was Lakeside Love. I really liked this story of unrequited love and finding peace in oneself and following God's will. Even though Jonah had blinders on for a while, I admired the genuine way he handled his shifting feelings. Even though it was a short story, there were great themes explored and I felt like it was well-balanced and contained a full arc. The last story, One Sweet Kiss, was another one I especially liked because of the matchmaking efforts Jacob and Martha undertake for two of their special needs friends. It showed their thoughtful and caring nature, and gave Martha experiences that demonstrated that Jacob could be trusted. This collection is one that will be loved by fans of Amish fiction!

What can I say but WOW. These 4 ladies have written 4 different stories that teaches us an important lessen if we look closely. I can't wait to read more from these ladies.

Lovely collection of short stories by 4 well known Amish fiction authors. I often struggle with these short story collections because you can only develop a story so much when it has to be so short. A lot ends up being left out and up to the imagination of the reader. These authors did pretty good at giving the reader as much as they could within their constraints. I especially loved the first two stories. Well developed characters and plot. The last story seemed like it was missing a ton and should have been a full book in itself. Overall this was a nice collection for some laid back reading for fun. Love how the authors tackle issues and don't just romanticize them. They don't write from fairy tale land that's for sure.
I received a digital copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

An Amish Summer is a collection of four beautifully written novellas by Shelley Shepard Gray, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin. This lovely collection is one that you will want to add to your bookshelf to reread again. It would also make a great gift for a friend.
The first novella, A Reunion in Pinecraft, is by Shelley Shepard Gray. Sherry Kramer cannot wait to meet her secret pen pal Graham Holland in Pinecraft, Florida. Sherry brings her sister Sharon and two other good friends with her on the trip. Graham also brings two friends with him. Sherry first met Graham at a wedding, so she is really looking forward to the reunion. Unfortunately, the reunion is anything but joyful, it is rather awkward. Graham realizes as soon as he meets the sisters that Sharon is the one he thought he was writing to; he remembers her from the wedding, not Sherry. What happens next? You'll definitely want to check out this sweet novella, it won't disappoint! Taking a trip to lovely Pinecraft is always a special treat, especially in the Summer!
Summer Storms by Amy Clipston is a beautifully written novella. This short story is the second novella in An Amish Summer. Arianna Smucker is counting down the days until she marries Jesse Zook, she can't wait! Jesse is also a good friend of Arianna's brother Tobias. Tobias is in an accident that gets both himself and Jesse in trouble. Marvin, Arianna's father, forbids Jesse from seeing Arianna again, and the wedding is off! Jesse is devastated. How will he prove to Marvin that he can be trusted? Will he be able to prove how devoted he is to Arianna and her family? Once you start reading you will not be able to put this story down!
Lakeside Love by Kathleen Fuller is the third book in the collection. Esther Coblentz has always had a crush on Judah King. His family moved to Ohio four years ago. Judah only notices Esther's younger sister, Sarah. Rhett Davidson, an Englisher, shows up and spends the summer with the Coblentz family. Rhett's presence changes everything. You will want to be sure to check out this novella to see how the story unfolds.
The final novella in An Amish Summer is One Sweet Kiss by Kelly Irvin. This beautiful story is the perfect ending to a collection well-written novellas. Martha Byler has been taking care of her brothers and sisters since she was ten, when her mother passed away. She is in love with Jacob King, who does not seem to want to settle down anytime soon. He is just another person she will have to take care of. Jacob sees it a little differently. He had fun in his rumspringa, but now he is ready to settle down. Will Martha ever believe that he is the man she needs him to be?
Kelly Irvin does a great job of bringing the characters to life. While reading you will feel like you are right there with them in lovely Bee County, Texas. The characters experience circumstances that we can all relate to, including frustration, patience, love, hope and faith.
I definitely recommend picking up a copy of An Amish Summer. Once you start reading, you won't be putting this book down anytime soon!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley, and have given my honest opinion.

I knew I would enjoy this set of novellas when I saw the author of each story. Shelley Shepard Gray, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Irvin are writers whose books I always enjoy reading.

Each novella in An Amish Summer is a quick read. They are all sweet romances. I enjoyed reading the viewpoints of both the male and female characters. A couple of the stories touch on difficult issues. A few have characters from the authors' previous books, which made them fun to read for me. The themes I saw in each novella are facing/admitting the truth and trusting God to work in each circumstance. These are all very different and enjoyable stories I recommend reading, whether it's one at a time or all in one sitting! I was provided a complimentary review copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

This review is for Summer Storm by Amy Clipston. I will finish reading and promote the entire collection soon. Posts will be made on all social media sites at that time.

Review:
There’s something special about Amy Clipston’s writing and I’ve never been disappointed. Summer Storm, a novella in the 4-story collection An Amish Summer, might seem like a short, sweet Amish romance – but there’s much more to experience here. Summer Storms reflects real-life situations in this story of misunderstandings and broken relationships – not only between boy/girl, but father/son and two best friends.

The actions of Arianna’s brother, Tobias, created a conflict that put her love for Jesse and desire to obey her father at odds. Even in the shorter novella format, Clipston creates well-rounded characters, emotion, and spiritual depth. Character growth takes place along with sweet romance, and I especially connected with the secondary character of Tobias. I long for his story to be told in the future.

There’s much more to enjoy in this novella collection and I hope to share my thoughts soon. Recommended to all who enjoy quality Amish fiction.
