Ah. Colleen Coble. Can't go wrong with her romantic suspense novels. In this latest installment, we revisit Rock Harbor and all the wonderful characters like Bree, Kade, Laurie, Mason, and the gang. This book can be read as a stand-alone. But if you've been following Bree and Kade's life and adventure, it's nice to see them settled into a wonderful family routine.

The setting of Rock Harbor, especially in the winter and the snow storms, is a chilling backdrop for a great suspense novel. Ms. Coble's writing is fast-paced and the anticipation of "what will happen next?!?!" totally keeps the pages turning well into the night. The twists and turns in the story really took me for a roller coaster ride.

Boone is a successful outfitter and an ex-smoke jumper who's given up on finding love due to his scars from a work-related injury. His emotional scars run very deep and he can't seem to climb out of his bitterness and isolation.
Dana is a sweet-tempered and loving woman returning to Rock Harbor after a rocky relationship. She reconnects with Bree and Boone's cousin Allyson as the plot literally thickens and she's thrown into danger.

The path to forgiveness and belief in the omnipotent, omniscient, and loving God is riddled with self-doubt, fading memories, and fresh hurts but this path becomes smoother for both Boone and Dana as they walk it together.

I recommend this book for anyone who loves Christian romantic suspense.

I received ARC of the book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley. I was not required to write a review or write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Beneath Copper Falls is another addition to the Rock Harbor collection. Three words describe this book: so much suspense! Colleen Coble does it again with intriguing characters and a power packed novel. I loved Boone and the way his tender heart is hidden beneath his hurt. Scarred for doing his job, he’s battling the urge to care for another woman after Esther broke his heart. Dana Newell goes from one bad relationship to defending herself against a killer and she doesn’t even know she’s doing it.
Colleen Coble weaves suspense and romance wonderfully in Beneath Copper Falls. The action was consistent and every page had me wanting another.

Dana moves to Rock Harbor to escape an abusive fiancé and tries to start her life over with the help of her brother Chris. Dana is a 911 operator because she likes to help others and doesn’t want others to experience the hurt and pain that she has felt in her life.

I absolutely loved this book! It had a good steady pace with lots of drama and suspense from beginning to end. I could not put the book down because half way thru I suspected something and couldn’t wait to finish the book to see if I was right. I was gasping and riveted throughout the entire book!

I won’t be letting my teenager read this book because I feel like it is too dark for him since this story deals with abuse and a serial killer. I am truly shocked with how evil some people can be or become.

Author Colleen Coble has done it again with writing another amazing book! I highly recommend her for suspenseful christian drama.

It's so nice to visit Rock Harbor again. I feel like it's a homecoming with people who are intriguing and a town that is very quaint. Dana is a great character. She is fierce and determined. I admire her job as a 911 operator. The stress they are under each day must be tremendous. Dana seems to keep a cool head and is able to calm callers down. She has come back to Rock Harbor to avoid someone who has become abusive towards her.

I found Boone to be a great match for Dana. He has a heart of gold, but like Dana has trust issues. When they develop a friendship I started rooting for them. They are just what each other needs. The author writes a story that delves into abusive relationships with precision and compassion. I can remember growing up always hearing adults say, "Be careful of strangers . They are mean and ugly." Society does seem to classify good people by their looks. In this story looks are deceiving and social skills really come into play. The town is on edge when several women turn up dead. What is the connection between the victims? Boone has a vested interest in the investigation and wants to keep Dana safe.

The characters are mesmerizing and I have to say the intrigue is top notch. Dana feels secure now that she is staying with her brother Chris. Just being in his home gives her a sense of peace. But someone from her past will shatter her security. Will Dana's friends or brother be able to protect her? This is by far one of the best books in the series. The intense scenes draw readers in. I hope you are ready for an explosive and unexpected ending. Everyone who loves a great intriguing story must grab a copy of this book. It grabs you at the beginning and the action never stops.

I received a copy of this book from The Fiction Guild and Netgalley. The review is my own opinion.

In Colleen Coble’s Beneath Copper Falls, dispatcher Dana Newell escapes to Rock Harbor to break out of an abusive relationship and make a new life. When a desperate friend also finds herself under threat and calls 911 for help, Dana’s memories come flooding back. Will the police arrive in time? Or will Dana’s friend be another victim? And will Dana be next?

Beneath Copper Falls is the perfect combination of romance and suspense. The setting in the upper peninsula of Michigan provides a beautiful backdrop for intriguing mystery and budding relationship. The culinary touches throughout the storyline add to its warmth. Without the peachiness of so many Christian novels, the spiritual message is clear and effective. Apart from some unrealistic tendencies in the romantic relationships, this is an enjoyable read.

Beneath Copper Falls is Coble’s sixth offering in the Rock Harbor Series, and it’s easy to see why she remains popular in the Christian Market.

I was given a free copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

n the last two days, I've read two of Colleen Coble's Rock Harbor suspense books. That's a lot of
fast-paced, mind-twisting mystery and a LOT of time on the NOOK in less than 48 hours. The first book was a re-release of Abomination, now called HOUSE OF SWANS, and the second book was Coble's July release BENEATH COPPER FALLS. BENEATH COPPER FALLS was definitely Coble at her A-game. She delivered a tightly woven story that offered the Upper Peninsula Michigan setting that I love, along with a chilling mystery (when you get to the end, you will know why I chose the word chilling), and a budding romance, as well as believable side stories. I liked that the romance which grew between Dana Newell and Boone was not as fast paced as the suspense. To the pair, it just seemed like they had a growing friendship and a natural concern for each other, especially since Dana's former boyfriend was stalking her and had followed her all the way from Washington state to Rock Harbor on Lake Superior. When Dana fears a link between Garrett, her former boyfriend, and an elusive man dubbed "The Groom Reaper," both Dana and Boone alert the authorities and begin their own investigations. There are a lot of short chapters in BENEATH COPPER FALLS with change of characters and even change of cities. While these may seem abrupt and confusing, that is the intent since we are being given pieces to a puzzle that do not easily fit together until later. I found my mind trying to race ahead and fit it all together.

Like most suspense series set in a central location, there are repeat characters. In the Rock Harbor books, that would be Bree, who trains search and rescue dogs and her husband Kade. I like their presence in the books and they had a layer of authenticity to the UP setting. However, both of the last two books feature their restored lighthouse home as a place that a "bad guy" tries to break into, and each time their young children are there. While the author has not actually written scenes in which the kids face the dangerous person, I guess the kids' inclusion in these scenes is a bit too dark for me.
I know if Colleen Coble writes another Rock Harbor mystery, I will return to this fictional Lake Superior town, but for now I long for a real journey to the UP forests, shorelines, and rocks that I find most peaceful. If I can't get there in person this fall, I will be searching for another book (but not a suspense) that will take me there.

I obtained a copy of HOUSE OF SWANS from WPLC, the Wisconsin libraries spot for e-books, and received an e-version of BENEATH COPPER FALLS from NetGalley. All opinions are mine and I was not required to write a review.

“Renee huddled in the garden shed in her pajamas and tried to hear him over the pounding of her heart in her ears…”

The opening lines of this book (in the prologue) really grabbed my attention! I love it when stories start with an intense scene that hooks you and makes you want to know more about the plot and characters.

As I continued to read on and the story unfolded, I found it difficult to sleep at night because I couldn’t get my mind off of the intriguing characters and the chilling situations some of them were in. This book was well-paced and well-written!

Colleen Coble has amazing story-telling talent! This is the only book I have yet to read in her Rock Harbor series, and although I feel “Beneath Copper Falls” stands well on its own, I am now excited to read the rest of the series!

Even the strongest seeming people can be victims of abuse. A young independent woman, a 911 operator for heaven's sake, gets involved in a horrible relationship. It becomes so difficult she picks up and moves to live with her brother. In this nice little town there are problems as well and they involve murders - plural. Ms. Coble toys with us, making us think different people are responsible at different times and when it is finally revealed, there is a LOT to accept. I understand this is part of a series but at no point did I feel left out!

Dana has decided after dating a man who is not safe any longer maybe it would be better if she moved home this way she could be close to her friends and family and maybe they could help her. She never expected there to be more danger and secrets to uncover then when she came home and things start to reveal them self and she started to question what was really going on. Can she stay safe or is there more then meet the eye in this small town she called home once? Boone, is broken and scarred inside and out and he knows if he will ever find happiness again he needs to learn to let it go. But when he looses someone close to him and then his past seems to just come face to face with him he wonders what can happen next. When he seeks to help protect Dana he starts to wonder is there more then meets the eye with the world he had held so much anger towards?

OH MY GOODNESS, I just can't with this book. Literally from page one to the last page you are left guessing what the author is going to throw at you next and it keeps you on the edge of your seat for sure. The author has a way of sucking you in and then all of a sudden the book is over with. Wow just wow. I really enjoyed this book and wanted so much more from this story about these two. I am hoping they will appear in cameos in another book. (Its not a cliff hanger ending but you just get sucked into this book you are left wanting more.) I loved while this is a mystery the author kept the book good, clean and fun. I really enjoyed the biblical aspect of it as well. While Dana was trying to face a dangerous situation she was trying to get here heart right with God and see his handy work in whatever she faced on a day to day bases, and that seems to matter most. I enjoyed how Boone was broken he didn't come off as "whinny" but came off as a broken man looking for healing. If you want a book that will keep you guessing with every page turn seriously grab this book you will not regret it

It was so great catching up with everyone one in Rock Harbor. Bree and Sampson make me smile every time their name was mentioned in the pages of the book.

Great mystery about the Groom Reaper.

Story Notes

Colleen Coble’s return to Rock Harbor brings mystery, danger and enough suspense to keep readers engaged from the first page to the last.

As a long-time fan of Colleen Coble I was excited to return to Rock Harbor with her in her latest story. Rather that keeping the focus on Bree Matthews, nee Nicholls, Ms. Coble chose to have the story told through the eyes of Bree’s friend Dana Newell. There were a few other characters viewpoints added in, mainly that of Boone Carter, but the main story centered around Dana. Dana has come to Rock Harbor in search of peace and safety after her boyfriend, Garrett, attacked and stalked her back in Washington state. She plans to stay with her adoptive brother, Chris, and work as a 911 dispatcher for the area, a job she was happy to be able to continue from her life in Washington. But coming home brings with it much more excitement and danger than Dana has anticipated: from a possible new relationship with Boone, to the presence in town of Garrett who is seeking to get even, to the missing persons/murder case that Dana inadvertently finds herself in the middle of, Ms. Coble includes a wonderfully terrifying number of situations that make you hold your breath until you see how they turn out. I always enjoy a good mystery in which the author uses assumption and distraction to keep the real culprit hidden. I did manage to figure out the guilty person before it was revealed but not too soon, which makes me feel like I “beat” the characters to the right conclusion – which, I’m sure, is Ms. Coble’s clever intention. It was also fun to be ridiculously scared for Dana when she confronted Garrett and later, the killer. If I don’t feel like the characters were in actual danger it makes the book a bit boring, but Ms. Coble definitely strove to keep you glued to the pages of her story to find out “who dunnit?” and why. Ms. Coble also used one of my favorite character building plots – strength training and self-defense. Dana had a lot of fear in her life and had so little confidence in her ability to take care of herself when in danger that I was glad to see her grow strong throughout the story. Boone taught Dana to not only prepare her body to defend herself, but also to use mental and spiritual strength to give her defensive moves the power needed to fight off possible attackers. Dana, in turn, taught Boone to be less-defensive about his past physical and spiritual scars and let others see the kind and helpful side of himself. Dana’s faith in the face of all her problems teaches Boone that God gives strength to those who ask for it and will be there to catch His children when they fall. As their relationship grows, they will find themselves tested to their absolute limits, and thankfully, they come out even stronger both individually and as a couple. I was further glad to see that Lauri finally realized that she’s not as smart as she thinks she is, especially when it comes to men. She’s had some rough years and done some growing up in the past couple of books but I hope Ms. Coble is finally going to have her take time to mature a little in her ability to read people and in her spiritual life. Perhaps the next book will tell more of her story – one can always hope! The only problem I find with a good book such as this is that it ends before I’m ready to be finished. I’ve really loved the Rock Harbor series so far and hope Ms. Coble will be adding more books very soon. I will definitely recommend both the series and this book in particular to others, hoping they will enjoy it as much as I did.

I received this E-book free of charge from Thomas Nelson Fiction via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I will receive no fiscal compensation from either company for this review.

Beneath Copper Falls is a bowl of dichotomy - you have a girl who has a woman who has an ex that has come back and he is as bad and as evil as evil can get - you cannot think of how evil this man is - This has an abundance of places where I have jumped out of my skin when the phone rang or the can jumped up on me or I had my name called - etc - my skin crawled all the others - except when you had the other man who was romancing the woman - and those parts where nice - but is he truly a nice man - or is there something about him - hmmmmm? I was scared to death sometimes - MAN DID I LOVE THIS BOOK - a book that could make you feel all that bad and then turn around and make you feel real good - and keeps you wanting to read now that is an admirable author - who knows her stuff - Ms. Coble - I love your books - and this one was incredible and I cannot thank you for the skin crawls and scaring me to death as well as my Praising my LORD and loving the romance - now that is a good book - thank you so much - Is the accident (that is what it was ruled) is truly an accident then nothing will become of everyone looking into the basics but for Dana's sake - everyone is looking into it because Dana believes it was murder - and that she could be next - wellllllllll - was it - and will she????? you cannot believe all the twists - and turns - and bumps and bruises and fun belly flops - you will love this.......

A woman is murdered—drowned—in the Prologue. Another woman is almost drowned in the first chapter. Is that creepy or what?

Dana, the almost-victim, escapes from her fiance and returns home to Rock Harbor. She knows Garrett might track her home, but figures she’ll be surrounded by friends, and he’ll stick out in the small town. He’s determined to get her back—and she’s just as determined to stay away from him, to stay safe.

She has decided she doesn’t need a man to take care of her, but then she meets Boone Carter. That’s a first meeting that doesn’t go well! But they reconcile, and … but that would be telling. Suffice to say this is romantic suspense, and although the emphasis is largely on the suspense, there is still enough romance to keep romance lovers happy.

This was a great story, full of suspense and misdirection. I thought I’d figured out the identity of the murderer, then something happened which meant I had to be wrong (and I was). We also saw more of the evildoer’s MO as the story progressed, and this just ramped up the tension as we saw him working to ensnare his next victim—another Rock Harbor woman.

At this point I hadn’t guessed the evildoer’s true identity, but that didn’t stop me yelling at the character to get away from the creep. I did eventually work out the real murderer (long before Dana, Bree and co worked it out), but that only added to the suspense. He’s behind you! Get out now!

This is the sixth novel in Colleen Coble’s Rock Harbor series. I think I’ve read one or two of the previous novels—Bree rang a bell, but that was all. It didn’t matter. Beneath Copper Falls can easily be read without having read the previous books. I’m sure fans of the series will be thrilled to read a new instalment.

Recommended for thriller fans. Best read the day before your manicure appointment, not the day after.

I think I finished this in a day, I couldn't put it down! Such a great book! It leaves you guessing until it finally springs the killer's identity on you, drawing you into a race against time as the characters attempt to stop him before it's too late. Received this book from the publisher for our honest review.

Although part of a series, Beneath Copper Falls can be read without the background. Set in Michigan's gorgeous Upper Peninsula, the scenery is lovely yet the atmosphere eerie. You'll be thinking about this storyline again. In fact, you'll need restraint to not rush reading to know what happens. Colleen Coble is the literary version of Hitchcock with intense suspense full of twists.

We all have scars. Some are visible while most are hidden. The main characters deal with these, too. Dana has a painful past and moved to end an abusive relationship. Boone has physical scars and is in the grip of grief. Both seek answers and justice and healing.

The return trip to Rock Harbor was well worth the wait! While the main focus is Dana's story, Bree is also very much involved. Bree and her beloved Samson (SAR dog) are back in action. Dana returns home to Rock Harbor to escape an abusive relationship. Dana meets Boone, who is also dealing with very traumatic events from his past. When she learns that Boone's sister may have been murdered by a serial killer, the similarities are eerily familiar to her own abuse. It seems Dana's ex has followed her to Rock Harbor, and soon after another close friend is killed. Dana and Boone must work together to figure out if her ex really is a serial killer, or if they are facing two different mad men... especially if Dana is his next victim.

Colleen Coble is back with another mystery set in Rock Harbor. Although this is book 6 in the series, this makes a great standalone book as all the characters and their relationship to each other is explained. Colleen Coble is a very talented writer who definitely knows how to set the stage for an intriguing story this time with a serial killer.

While the murderer was apparent early in the book, it didn’t detract from how suspenseful the book was. Instead, it added to it because the characters were unaware of where the danger was coming from. Have you ever watched a movie where the bad guy is creeping up behind someone and they are completely unaware of the danger they are in? That’s what it’s like when you know more than the people in the book.

This was a really good Christian fiction book. And it does not contain any sexual situations or cursing that too many secular fiction books do. I highly recommend it.

This book was full of twists and turns that I couldn't even imagine. Get ready for a edge of your seat thrilling ride from beginning to end. My jaw literally dropped several times. Colleen Coble is the master when it comes to suspense. I was constantly trying to figure out who to trust, and who was murdering these young beautiful women. There was even a point when I was discussing my suspicions with my husband who hasn't read a romantic suspense book in his life. This book takes place in Rock Harbor. I did not read any of the previous books set in the same place, but now I am dying to. This book follows Dana as she tries to escape a stalking ex by returning to where she knows best.

Dana has missed being home. Being around those she grew up with and whose friendships she holds dear brings peace to her life. She loves the home her brother has built, and has missed spending time with him as well. Just when her life might seem normal, it is turned completely upside down. When what she wants to be her past follows her home, Dana must learn to stop running. Her new friendship with Boone gives her strength and courage to keep living her life. Can they let down their walls and learn what a real relationship is like? Or will Danas' past be too much to handle?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys holding on to the edge of your seat. Coble made the characters so real, I even found myself feeling sorry for the "bad guy". She will keep you guessing until the end when the truth is finally revealed. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Publishing. I was not required to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
