This was such a lovely read and I thoroughly enjoy it! The characters were really fun and the story itself was great.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by Michele De Winton in the future.

Scottish actor Blaine Galloway’s in Thailand temporarily escaping a fake engagement he arranged to help save his gambling brother from the violent men he owes money to.

Small town girl Janie Milan, an aspiring science writer, spills her drink on him and when she asks him his name, he lies and says Bevan. Bevan/Blaine’s not supposed to do anything about the attraction he feels for Janie but the more time they spend together, the more it seems like a good idea.

What could possibly go wrong?

Regularly peppering her speech with colloquialisms and showing how much she’s infatuated with what she sees in Thailand, Janie’s the real small-town deal. I appreciated how De Winton portrays Janie’s close relationship with her family and town but also her desire to shake loose of family obligations that have become a bit stifling. Janie’s into snakes & National Geographic and also has some great internal quips about men and confidence. She’s a little quirky and I really appreciated it—just like I appreciated how she doesn’t make it easy for Blaine to grovel.

But the colloquialisms are sometimes a bit much and her secret nickname for her vagina embarrassed me. Also, while I understood her ambition for her blog, her reaction to his foster story is pretty mercenary.

Blaine’s charming and makes his lack-of-relationship expectations clear before they have sex but what he says about her to his agent isn’t very romantic.

All things considered, I like the unusual heroine, the exotic locale, and the novelty of a Scottish actor who wants to take on Hollywood in Her Scottish Mistake, but I didn’t warm to the style of the book itself and I wanted a little more romance.

Janie is on a couples retreat vacation by herself She ;loves science and is an aspiring blogger. She is a small town girl from Texas who takes care of her father and brothers. Janie works at a small petting zoo handling snakes. . Her boyfriend and cheated with her best friend and they were now to marry and she had even been invited and she had no intention of going to that wedding. So instead she was a ten day dream vacation in Thailand. Away from ex's,- boyfriend and bestfriend and their wedding date. She is by the pool and bumps into Blaine and spills her Pina Colada all over him. Janie invites him to her room to clean him up. Blaine is a well known personality in his own country of Scotland, who is hiding out from the Paparazzi but Janie doesn’t know that. Blaine is happy to find someone who isn’t out to exploit him and is a real person. Blaine gives Janie the fake name Bevan. Janie and Blaine decide to spend their vacation together even though Blaine is suspicious of everyone. Janie finds out Blaine lied to her about who he was now she has to decide what to do. Janie couldn’t seem to resist Blaine. Blaine would do anything for his brother after the upbringing they had. Blaine had always been his brothers protector then and now always would be. Blaine got out of the spotlight to keep his brother safe. He also has to play fake fiance to a woman who isn’t helping his image. Press makes out that Janie trying to get her moment of fame being with Blaine and he doesn’t take that well. Blaine’s agent does manage to get them to a very private resort.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I lied it was a nice building romance. I laughed at times while reading this book. I loved the adventure Blaine and Janie had. I didn’t like the lie but understood why Blaine did it. However janie calling her female parts Miss muffin annoyed me after a bit. Also when janie kept referring to her ovaries . Why didn’t Blaine’s agent get him to that very private resort sooner? I did enjoy the descriptions of Thailand also. I didn't really feel the connection between Blaine and Janie until the end. I like janie still went on her dream vacation even if she had been hurt and was alone. I also liked that Janie didn’t run when her world got all topsy turvy. I did like the ending and the twists. This did have my attention from the beginning until the end. I liked the plot and pace too. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

*3.5 Stars Rounded Up

This is a fantastic read for reading while on a flight or lounging by the pool. It's got a lot of fun scenes and lots of adventure (that oftentimes don't go as Blaine or Janie expect).

Blaine is a Scottish soap opera star trying to take a break from everything, who finds himself bumping into Janie, a small-town USA, wannabe-travel blogger looking for adventure and to shake things up after a horrible breakup.

The exotic locale of Thailand was really a treat and I absolutely loved the cultural immersion.

There were a few hitches in the story that made this less than a 4-star read for me. I was enjoying this for exactly what I expected it to be and then came the inevitable wrench in their story... Which somehow turns into Blaine being the only one in the wrong and needing to grovel for Janie's forgiveness, despite the fact that she did some pretty foolish things herself.

The small town Southern girl trope was in full force around that same point and it was just a bit too much at times. The townspeople were caricatures and stereotypes, and Blaine also seemed to turn more into a stereotypical Scot.

This was great for an indulgent romance though, and one I would recommend to anyone looking for something on the lighter, fluffier side.

Sweet story. It was a bit slow but picked up. Janie is on vacation after her breakup. Blaine is hiding from the press. There's an instant attraction when they meet but they both have secrets but when secrets are revealed their new relationship is threatened. It takes a big step on Blaine's part to prove his dedication and love to Janie and their future together.

A quick and easy read for the summer. It is not a bad book, it is not a great book, but in between. Easy to pick up and put down, which makes it a great take along to the beach. The hiding identities and fake engagements gets tiresome after awhile, but overall a fun book anyway. Recommend this book.

Janie, a small town food blogger, has run away for a trip of a lifetime. Upon arriving in Thailand, she realizes she is staying at a couples only retreat...so she is thrown into activities with a secretive, Scottish hunk. Sparks fly and fun ensues!

A fun, feisty romantic comedy that is full of spark, sass, witty dialogue, a charming Scott, and entertaining heroine, Her Scottish Mistake is one of those romances you will laugh uncontrollably and love every minute of the antics that happen within each chapter! I haven't enjoyed a book this much, this fast in a truly long while. The characters are a whole lot of fun to know and the way this story progresses had my heart happy and sighing blissfully.

Along with the great dialogue, and splendid humor, I thought the story contained plenty of heart. Michele De Winton is one heck of a great writer! She had me loving her characters and the story just...fizzed with energy and heat, and is full of humor that had me laughing plenty throughout the book! I am IN LOVE with this author and wish I had found her sooner!

Her Scottish Mistake gets a WILDLY ENTERTAINING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! And it DESERVES every one of those stars and MORE!

Janie went on her dream trip after her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend. Janie's enjoying the stay in Thailand, when she accidentally bumps into Blaine and pours a drink all over his clothes. That little accident brought together two singles in a couple's resort. To take advantage of the current situation, they decide to spend their holiday together. There wouldn't be nothing wrong in it, but Blaine is keeping a secret from Janie and when things start to come out, events take unexpected turn. Do the secrets and doubts ruin the relationship between Janie and Blaine or will they make it work?

I have to say I really enjoyed the setting and the turn of events, but I didn't really feel the connection between the main characters, it happened at the end of the book, when Blaine acted like a real gentleman. Overall it was a fun book and I'd like to continue on with the series.

What happens when a Texas snake wrangling blogger meets a famous Scottish hunky eyeful at a resort in Thailand, nothing you would expect. When two people, each escaping the disasters they call their lives, join forces they may have just caused the perfect storm or maybe found paradise!

I can think of no better way to pass my time then with a Michele DeWinton book and I can attest Her Scottish Mistake was not a Jenerated Reviews mistake! Heavy loaded on putting out fires and raging hormones this writer pulled her characters out of numerous scrapes and into each others arms like the expert she is at directing the antics of her cast. Lots of witty dialog filled the pages of this work. Blaine and Janie were a fabulously unorthodox match made endearing and possible by the artistry and direction of Ms. DeWinton. A fun and quick read Her Scottish Mistake is a great book vacation!

A gambling debt, an engagement and two people looking to find a little peace on an island away from prying eyes.

A holiday adventure with monkeys, a sexy Scotsman and the deep blue sea! A menu of fruity drinks, grilled fish and a sweet coconut dessert would compliment this holiday excursion.

Don't miss this must read story. I can't wait to read the next release from this fabulous author!

A fun read for when you're in the mood for a book that you don't have to think to much while reading, just about enjoying it.

Two characters both hiding for different reasons.
Great descriptions of Thailand and a different location for a fun romantic comedy.
This is a first book for me by this author and I will be keeping an eye out to see what else she comes up with.

I always worry when I read a Scottish character written by a non-Scottish author that I will cringe at the dialogue or mannerism, but fear not Michele did an amazing job - though I don't think I have ever heard somebody being called "a month old haggis" in my life!.....

Okay that aside I really enjoyed this story, the setting was amazing and the characters were relate-able, lovable and down right sexy - yet not a kilt in sight ;)

Janie has come to Thailand to escape an ex who is getting married to her former best friend, and she plans to have a trip of a lifetime that is until she accidentally spills her Pina Colada over the ever so handsome Blaine Galloway. Blaine is a huge TV star and has escaped to Thailand to get away from the tabloids back in the UK and is relieved when he realises that Janie hasn't got a clue who he is, so he tells a little lie which does back fire on him later on when she finds out his true identity.

Until that moment they have an amazing time exploring together, and because of who he is and his influence Janie gets to see some hidden treasures off the beaten track she wouldn't have been able to otherwise, there are sparks there and generally they are just down right made for each other in my eyes.

When it push comes to shove and the truth is revealed and Blaine win Janie's heart or has the deception gone too far?

This would be a great beach holiday read, definitely a 5 stars from me!

This book had a really sweet promise but it wasn't for me. Though I didn't click with the writing style, it was still pretty nicely written and I could see it being appreciated. The story and build up on the romance was cute and funny, exactly like the kind of romantic comedy I'd find on the shelves. I did like that they spent time together before going at it like yummy bunnies in the end. The last part of the story seemed a little different but maybe that's the point when they go from paradise in Thailand to the real world? Either way, if you like romantic comedy, drama, southern hospitality and Scotsmen, check it out.

Janie is on holiday as her ex is getting married to her former best friend where she accidentally bumps into Blaine Galloway.

Janie gets flustered, but does not know who Blaine is which is something Blaine is not used too and finds very refreshing.

Both keep little secrets but are otherwise themselves and find themselves find the best out of their current situations.

We do of course get our happy ending when Blaine realises that he has been an idiot and decides he wants to fight for her.

It good writing and you get a good sense of what Thailand can be like and the beauty there along with the fascinating places to see.

It's certainly a fun read and Janie says some things that had me laughing out loud. I would certainly read this again.

This is my first time in reading this author with her though being able to catch my eye with the story content. Most times any more I skip contemporary because I am burnt out on the reading of it at the moment but this one does have its lures. It centers around Janie and Blaine whom take you along on their getaway. I also like being a reader the part of her career being a blogger. Then those Scottsman sure got lots of appeal, which she though so too. Odd place though to pick for a vacation but ok guess that is where people like to go hide too lol. Anyways once they meet it starts to grow. This is fueled with love and laughter even when the secret is out. Kept me going all the way to the end which says alot for me.

I found my pocket full of sunshine with Her Scottish Mistake. Ms. De Winton piles on the laughs with this ideal opposites attract barrel of joy. On the run from her worst mistake, Janie decides to take a little break. An exotic location, a sexy stranger and surprises are on the agenda when she meets Blaine. Blaine and Janie find adventure and romance as they work through messy lives and secrets that could spell the end for their storybook romance before it's even begun. A fantastic, fantasy.

Aspiring blogger Janie Milan is finally on her dream trip to Thailand. But when an unfortunate piña colada incident lands her in the path of a hot Scotsman, Janie finds herself dying to find out what's under his kilt. Only the frustratingly sexy man isn't who he's pretending to be…

After cutting a deal to keep his brother safe, Scottish heartthrob Blaine Galloway is hiding from the press. But his secret identity starts to slip the second he meets small-town blogger, Janie. Now the press is hot on their heels and Blaine’s life is tumbling into a tabloid-sponsored hell. Coincidence? He’s not so sure.

This was a lighthearted read even though it held some not-so-lighthearted themes. I really enjoyed the characters and it wasn't a boring book for me at any time. I hate when I have to put a book down and pick up a different book just to cut up some of the monotony, but I didn't have to with this. It had some seriously hilarious parts in it and I would definitely read this author again in a heartbeat. The thing about books like this is that they're fiction for a reason...the things that happen in them aren't really plausible. That being said...did I have some questions about some of the things that happened in the book because they were implausible?? Yes, but even I can suspend reality for a couple hours to just enjoy reading.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

I really enjoyed reading Her Scottish Mistake because it was a fun and sexy read! The storyline is that get away vacation hook up/secret famous identity/blogger in need of a big break. There were so many intertwined part for Blaine and Janie’s HEA. It had just the right amount of sweet and sexy together that made this novel very enjoyable. I would recommend this novel and I would give it 4 stars. Another side note: I hope there will be more from this series coming out!

Given to me for an honest review by publisher and Netgalley.

The quirky romance of a Texas tomboy and Scottish actor takes place in the wonderfully descriptive backdrop of Thailand. While it took some time for me to warm up to the attraction between them with the hurtles they had to overcome this turned out to be a sweet, sexy afternoon read. If you're looking for something light, funny and with not too much depth then this is the story for you.
