Ecstacy unbound by Setta Jay.
I received this as an arc from net galley in exchange for an honest review.
As one of the twelve guardians, Urian has spent the last several centuries in a constant battle to keep the inhabitants of Earth's realms under control. Humanity has to evolve, hell beast need to die, and immortal needs mates.
Wow. Absolutely fantastic read.
CNPID.
I loved the story and the characters.
Wow. So raunchy and sexy.
Can't wait for next part.
This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book.
Definitely worth more than 5 *.

I've always found Jay's writing to be captivating and intriguing. It is entertaining to read the author's imaginative design on the Greek mythology.

Urian is one of the chosen Guardians of the Realms. He and his fellow Guardian like to frequent clubs and engage in sex while there. Over the years, he noticed Alexandra, a goddess that for whatever reason hadn’t been exiled, pops up and watches him engage. While he thinks she’s just into voyeurism, he’s losing his patience and tempted to follow her one of these times when she disappears, even if it means her banishment. When she appears in front of him for help, he loses control as does she. It turns out they are destined mates, but she’s hiding some difficult secrets that have kept her from ever coming to him until now…
I really liked this story. Usually I have a problem with authors using Greek mythology for their stories, but this author did a really good job of it, so I really liked the background storyline and we watch Urian and Alexandra. The reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because their are rape situations without warning (not really detailed though) and I don’t care for reading in detail the main characters having sex with others, even if it’s more a prelude.
Overall, it was a great story with a lot of great characters. I highly recommend. I can’t wait to read more from this series.

Ecstasy Unbound (The Guardians of the Realms Book 1) Kindle Edition
by Setta Jay
I received a complimentary copy for review purposes from NetGalley.

A meandering, pointless plot with lots of hot sex and no characterization of which to speak.

If you are looking for panty melting, kinky sexy between immortals and a mishmash of Greek and Roman gods, this book is for you. If you are easily irritated by half done interpretations of those same Gods and Goddesses and misspelling of Tartarus and other Greek names, this probably is not for you.

Gaurdian Urian and Demi-Goddess Alexandra have spent the better part of a century playing voyeur (her) and player (him) while he tries to rid the Earth real of Hellbeasts and she tries to avoid exile from the Earthrealm with the rest of the Immortals. The whole Hellbeasts and exile seem to be after thoughts as she spends 100 years watching him with other women while maintaining her chastity. Once the two hook up and hook up repeatedly they do, that slim plot slips away. Admittedly the sexy s hot but it never leads to love or has any interplay with the thin plot. Characterization? What characterization? He is a he-man, Alphahole and she is a powerful woman who wants to dominated.

The dialogue is clunky, description, when not dealing with sex, is shaky. The mythology and history created is rather silly and unneeded.

But again, if you are reading only for hot sex and long, graphic descriptions of it, this book is for you.

3 shaky stars out of 5

Before starting Ecstasy Unbound you should read the glossary at the beginning of the book. Yes, I was a bit put off that I had to read a glossary. I felt a prologue laying out the history of the world would have been much easier to digest and my rating reflects this. The good news is this is my only issue with the book. Once I figured out the history of the world and why almost all the immortals and demi-goddesses were exiled to a different realm, it was smooth sailing and I thoroughly enjoyed the book

Ecstasy Unbound has an insane amount of world building but what a world it is. A war between the gods had resulted in the Creators putting all the gods to sleep and exiling the Immortals to live in the Tetartos realm. The Guardians were tasked with protecting the four realms of Earth, ensuring that humanity could evolve and that the gods remain asleep. Exiled or not, some of the children of those gods continue to try to continue their parent’s evil plans and the Guardians need to stop them.

Alex, an immortal demi-goddess who escaped being exiled, was strong, brave, caring and sacrifices an unbelievable amount in her quest to watch over humans. Her life has been beset with the repercussions of a vicious attack, but she stays strong despite what happened and the limitations placed on her because of it. Needless to say, I absolutely adored her.

I loved Uri too— the gruff alpha had been just surviving all these long years, not really living. His long existence was wearing on him but the forbidden glimpses he’d get of his little demi-goddess kept him going, even though he was supposed to send her into exile on sight.

I found everything about Uri worthy of awe. His care for Havoc, the hell hound he saved, all made me melt into a pile of goo. The more I got to know him through his inner thoughts, the farther I fell for him as a character.

The chemistry between these two even before they officially come face to face is off the charts hot. When they finally do get together it results in one hell of a sexy ride, that you get to go on over and over again. I loved how I got a smutfest of epic proportions that didn’t detract from the story at all. In fact, it added to it in some fantastically panty melting ways.

The rest of the Guardians along with Alex’s brothers all had me wanting to know more about them and rooting for all of them to find their destined mates. With all the action, mystery, and sexy times I was treated to, I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series to see what Gregoire has in store for me.

Rating: 4 Panty-Melting Stars

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this story. The title and picture did not put me in the mind of an adventurous and comical story. I love Urian and Alexandra. This is a great introduction to a series. It has adventure, comedy, romance, battles between good and evil and of course, a dragon. The beginning through me off as I thought it was going to be a skin book, but it quickly redeemed itself with a solid story line and interesting characters. This book definitely deserves a second look.

Urian aka Uri is one of the twelve Guardians selected to constantly battle to keep the inhabitants of Earth’s Realms under control. After centuries of doing his job he secretly has forbidden contact with a little goddess, although he always watches her from a distance, he finds it increasingly difficult to keep from pinning her down on the nearest surface and making her his.

Alexandra aka Alex knows that if she involves herself with the Guardians she risks being cast out from the human Realm for centuries. After years of following and watching Uri she has to approach him to save her brother.

Will Uri banish her or save them both from more years of suffering through an attraction they both have fought to deny? Read and find out!

First, I want to start by saying I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review.

Second, Setta Jay... where have you been all of my life! I love not only this book but this entire series. I have been ripping through these books; I have literally read 4 of the books well 5 if you count the novella in 4 days basically forsaking all of my other ARCs.

Uri and Alex are a great couple, I love his super serious side to her super fun side! What is also great is the interaction between the other Guardians and Alex and her brothers. When you see the interaction it makes you want the next persons story even more.

These books can be read out of order, Setta Jay does a good job of not revealing too much, giving just enough information so that you are not confused, but you may enjoy them more in order.

This book is action packed, funny, romantic and explosive in the bedroom; making it well worth the 2.99 they are selling it on Amazon Kindle for! Great book for a great price!

The beginning of the book (and occasionally during the rest of the story) I thought was a bit confusing. There was a lot of information about the world the story was set in and numerous characters. I know that it was the first book in the series so it had to set the scene, but I felt that there was a lot to take in.

The story in general though was good. I liked the authors use of gods and mythology. The romance was steamy. The plot was interesting and different. This book was only the beginning in a bigger storyline and I look forward to continuing on the series.

The Guardians of the Realms series by Setta Jay is about Greek Gods, Goddesses, their children the Demi-Gods (and Demi-Goddesses), Immortals, Mageia, the Guardians of the Realms and a soul mate curse. Then it throws in a bunch of other preternatural creatures (predominately shapeshifters) and harmoniously infuses them into the mix. The world consists of four Realms: Hell (where evil souls are sent), Heaven (where good souls go to be reincarnated), Earth (where mortals live and immortals are forbidden) and Tetartos (the immortals plane). Each book follows a different Guardian (or two, or three) and their discovery and pursuit (or evasion) of their mate and everything that comes along with it.

This series is pretty raunchy with a lot of sex, emphasizing male dominance and female submission (but not in a BDSM way), so don’t read these books if you’re easily offended or would like to protect your virtue. The disclaimer at the beginning of this book reads “Warning: This book was written for an adult audience. It contains explicit sex, m/f/m menage, and alpha males with graphic language and bad attitudes.” So you know it’s going to be a good time (unless you’re not into that sort of thing)!

Some Backstory:
The Gods (and Goddesses) are the children of the Creators. The immortals were made to care for, and raise the Gods & Goddesses. The majority of the Gods & Goddesses go rouge and start inter-familial wars in a power play. In an attempt to create the ultimate warriors, Apollo & Hermes conduct experiments on the immortals – infusing them with animal DNA, and then trying to breed them. Thus giving a physical manifestation of their inner beasts and creating new races of immortals. The Creators are brought back to the world to try to stop the crazy Deities and the Gods are all put to sleep. Twelve Guardians were then chosen among the immortals and given special abilities by the Creators in order to protect humanity from being eradicated by immortals and the Gods. These are their stories.

Edict Set Fourth by the Creators Millennia Ago:

“We deem you twelve the Guardians of this world. It is now your duty to ensure the fragile seeds of humanity evolve free from slavery to immortal beings. Above all else, you will watch over the slumbering Gods, for they will one day be needed on Earth…”

««¤¤The below summary is pretty detailed and has some potential spoilers¤¤»»
Scroll past the second set of double lines if you don’t want to know the plot

Urian and Alex have been playing a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse for over a century. In his free-time, Uri likes to frequent sex clubs while on Earth to keep his immortal energies up, but there’s one female in particular that he’s wanted and hasn’t been able to get. Alex watches from the shadows while Uri watches her. She doesn’t dare get near, but oh how she wishes she could. She’s only been keeping tabs on him for over a hundred years. If only giving in to the desire wouldn’t put her and her brothers in jeopardy.

Being a Demi-Goddess, she isn’t supposed to be in the Earth Realm. She and her brothers have been avoiding the Guardians and exile back to Tetaros for millennia. Uri is an Aletheia, an immortal with enhanced mental aptitude and powerfully addictive fluids. The Alethia’s ability to take blood memories is what sparked the vampire myths. He’s also one of the Twelve Guardians. If he catches her she’ll be sent back to Tetartos. He very much wants to catch Alex, but not to exile her – at least not before he can finally get a taste of her.

Alex, Vane and Erik have been walking a fine line for some time trying to help the Guardians dispatch demons from possessed humans – all while not coming into direct contact and thus avoiding a one-way trip back to Tetartos. After Alex’s brother Erik is compromised while following a lead into a Mageia disappearance (mortal, elemental mage), Alex takes a chance and goes to the only person she can think of that might be able to help her fix her brother. Hoping she can seduce him into helping and not exiling them, Alex reaches out to Urian.

When she arrives at his house to seek the aid of the Guardians, there’s serious sexual tension on both sides and her plans at seduction go array. Alex can’t think past her yearning and Uri has one thing on his mind where she’s concerned. He makes his move and the contact sparks an all-consuming desire for both of them. When he fails to answer his brother Guardians’ calls they seek him out. Alex is discovered and taken prisoner to Tetartos by the other Guardians. There, they figure out that Alex is Urian’s [soul]mate and the physical contact has started the “mating frenzy”. Basically they’re both in a primal territorial mode and the male needs to “claim” his mate..in every way possible. The mutual need won’t stop until they complete the mating ceremony [a lot of sex is going to happen].

Meanwhile, outside of the love-bubble, Mageia are being abducted from both Earth and Tetartos and no one knows why or where they’re being taken. The Guardians, Alex and her brother Vane, are trying to find a way to get Erik out of his trance/coma as well as locate the missing mortals and catch the culprit. All signs point to Cyril (Apollo’s Siren, Demi-God son) who’s been M.I.A. for over a decade and was known for his devotion to continuing the twisted experiments his father and Hermes started. The increase of possessed humans in the Earth realm and “Hellbeasts” being created in Hell and sent to Tertaros and Heaven, indicates The Tria (evil triplets, imprisoned in Hell) may be involved as well.

So as you can see, there is an actual story line outside of all the mating frenzy sex and desire, and since I don’t want to ruin everything, I’ll leave it there.

There is a lot happening in the world and a LOT of characters, places and new terms to remember which was a little bit confusing and slightly overwhelming in the beginning. You’ll flip between different characters and places in the each chapter. This both helps keep things focused in each area as the story progresses, and can potentially confuse you a little more as we keep going back and fourth from one group or person and go to the next.

As you read you’ll get to know and learn more about specific characters. In this book the focus is on Alex, Urian & Erik. Setta tries to keep the info on a more need-to-know basis with the character details in each book so you aren’t trying to learn or remember everything about everyone all at once. As the series progresses you will get to know and learn the back stories about the different Guardians as well as Alex and her brothers, Erik and Vane. Luckily for us, she has prepared the reader for the information overload and put a glossary of names, places and terms in the front of the books so you can always go back for reference (which I did frequently). These glossaries will have new entries in each book as new characters are introduced.

There is a lot of sex, I think I’ve mentioned this already, right? It will come in all forms (no pun intended): from romantic, to passionate, to demanding, to rough, (plus more I’m sure I haven’t read yet) and Setta isn’t shy in any of her descriptions of what is happening and how. Aside from all the mating/sex there is an actual story to follow that will tie all ten of these books together. I can see potential for the story overall and I fully intend to read the entire series. As I write this, I’m just about to start the fifth book. You’ll start to notice the subtle hints dropped throughout the story so you’ll know who you’ll be reading about next, but the last chapter of each book will definitely suck you into the next one. The end of this one sets up the focus of the second book Ecstasy Claimed.

If you like to read series, you like sci-fi and you aren’t shy about explicit sex scenes, then I think you’ll like this book.

My Rating:
4 out of 5

I really liked this book, having started the series with the final book this is all new to me. I enjoyed getting to know some of the characters mentioned in the final book from the beginning and how temptation and following rules affects the guardians when you're talking about forever. Everything is here that needs to be and when you need steam you got steam. As I mentioned in my other review I will be reading more of this series, and have already purchased some.

This is a re-read but w redone scenes.

I couldn't even tell the scenes were redone until I looked at the old version. The biggest rewrite is the bonding sex scene. I didn't mind the other version but I liked how she made it work. The scenes in the upgraded version work so much better. There's also the missing prequel scene that I wish was still here. Still scorching hot scenes! Can't wait to hear more about books in the works.

I am a huge lover of paranormal romance and had this author recommended to me but had no idea just how erotic her writing would be. As this is the first book there's an awful lot of world building and creatures, names Demi gods etc to get to grips with which is necessary I know but a bit tedious. What really made me sit up and take notice though was the uber hot initial ménage scene which was a complete surprise! Yes much more erotic than I expected but then the characters started to make themselves known and finally the storyline took off.
Alex is a Demi god and by rights should not be roaming the Earth but like her two brothers she is determined to help the Guardians if she can and there's one in particular that she has had her eye on for centuries. Uri as a Guardian knows his role is to help humanity evolve whilst keeping the realms safe. Problem is there's one particular female who he aches for but it's his job to catch her and put her in prison . When Alex comes to him for help Uri can finally stake his claim but then the unthinkable happens and he just can't let her go!
Wow not for those seeking a sweet romance! The heat level is incendiary from start to finish so if scenes involving more than two people not your thing maybe skip this but if you are open minded there is a good story here. Yes its just the beginning of this series with it's roots in mythology but there are many diverse characters to get to know. A strong group and yes primarily alpha type males but there are female Guardians too . All sharing the same purpose which makes for a connection that almost feels like family and I liked that. As for the bad guys well suffice to say terrible things happen in this book that will shock some. I really want to see those responsible get their comeuppance so yes I'm firmly onboard to read the next book Ecstasy Claimed and at least this time I'm going in with a fire extinguisher!
