I have found memories of going to a sale and searching for the perfect treasure. Thankfully murder was never found but I was delighted to see a series based on such a delightful hobby. Sarah Winston has a the ability to solve a murder, and organize the perfect garage sale.

This is the perfect binge worthy series, to me the idea of a professional garage sale organizer or planner is very cool. Sarah has of course the ability to host the sale and have murder arrive. Murder isn't the only stressful even in her life, as her estranged brother returns to the picture, this of course adds some clues, but also makes the reader think that maybe he isn't who he says he is. I really actually like that it has some twists and a deeper plot line than just a murder. Sarah handles this all by learning self defense. Sarah, darling I feel ya' on the sore muscles. I was reading this after an extensive workout and could just sympathize greatly with Sarah. Of course, though I was laughing at the poor girl because well it just brought giggles to me with what I could picture in my mind. Sherry certainly can create a setting and unique scenes that engage the reader.

That feeling is the overall book, you just get Sarah. She is a sleuth that knows how to find the clues and answers. I really like that and even though she puts some relationships on some very thin ice, she seeks justice and truth. Who wouldn't want to enjoy a story with a sleuth like that? I hadn't read any of the other books in the series prior to reading this book, I felt like I missed great mysteries but was very able to connect to this story with Sarah. I think the series can work in order or in whatever manner you choose to read.

It’s a good day to buy, A GOOD DAY TO BUY, and an even better day to read it!

As with the first three titles in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mysteries, A GOOD DAY TO BUY is a wonderful cozy mystery read. Author Sherry Harris has what it takes to not only ensure previous readers will return for more, but to draw in new readers and make them instant fans.

The introduction of Sarah’s brother, Luke was interesting. I kept getting a strange feeling about him. Was he a good guy, or was he bad? Well, that’s for you to decide when you read the book.

The action in, A GOOD DAY TO BUY, started off earlier than a garage sale! Seriously, I was only a few pages into this story, and bamm . . . everything started happening. Glued to my chair, I had to remind myself to breathe as event after event flew across the pages. Seriously, there was always something going on!

A first rate mystery, and a carefully thought out whodunit, A GOOD DAY TO BUY is the perfect addition to this already fantastic series. Trust me when I say, once you start reading, you’re not going to want to put this book down! And just when you think it’s over, Ms. Harris throws in one more twist.

Don’t miss the garage sales tips at the back of the book!

This is a great book; this is the fourth book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery series written by Sherry Harris. When Sarah Winston’s estranged brother Luke shows up on her doorstep, asking her not to tell anyone he’s in town especially her ex, the chief of police the timing is strange, to say the least. Hours earlier, Sarah s latest garage sale was taped off as a crime scene following the discovery of a murdered Vietnam vet and his gravely injured wife her clients, the Spencers. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

A Good Day to Buy,book 4 in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mysteries by Sherry Harris, is another fantastic installment in the world of professional garage sale organization. While Sarah is running a sale for a local Vietnam veteran and his wife, they are found inside the garage in an cordoned off area; he's dead and she's seriously injured. When Sarah's brother Luke, who has been out of her life for 20 years, suddenly appears at her home after the murder occurs, she can't help but be suspicious. But is her brother involved? When all evidence points to Luke, Sarah makes it her mission to get to the bottom of things, all without telling CJ.

The slow rekindling of the relationship between Sarah and CJ makes me all warm and fuzzy. The ending of their union, as discussed in a previous book, wasn't all what it appeared to be, and it makes me happy that they are trying to find a way to rebuild. There are still issues to be resolved but they are both trying and I'm rooting for them. I was happy to see Sarah's brother re-enter her life even though the conditions aren't favorable. The author drew out a lot of emotions that are felt by the reader, not just with Luke but with other scenarios. The plot flows well and is fast paced. I was engaged throughout the novel, never hitting any slow spots.

I really enjoy the Garage Sale Mysteries by Sherry Harris. As a lover of garage sales, yard sales, flea markets, etc., a cozy setting of this nature makes me happy. Sarah is a great protagonist and has been in such a way that I feel like I know her personally. She has very realistic characteristics and the author really brings Sarah to life. The secondary characters are also realistically written.

As I said about the first 3 books in the series, A Good Day to Buy is a fantastic cozy mystery that is full of twists, turns, distractions, and red herrings. There are suspenseful, humorous, and heartbreaking moments that are sure to keep the reader engaged. The author sets up many of the characters as the potential suspect and expertly pulls the tablecloth out from underneath them without spilling the truth.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by the publisher.

A Good Day to Buy by Sherry Harris is the fourth book in A Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery series. Sarah Winston is helping Verne and Velma Spencer downsize their collections for a move to Florida. Today is garage sale day, and Velma keeps trying to reclaim items. Her husband, Verne takes her inside, and Sarah gets ready to bargain. Later in the morning, a customer attempts to enter an off-limits area in the garage that Sarah has cordoned off with sheets. Behind the sheets, Sarah discovers the couple on the floor. Verne is dead, but Velma still has a pulse. Through the back door of the garage, Sarah sees a man fleeing into the woods. After giving her statement to the police, Sarah is home enjoying a Fluffernutter sandwich (marshmallow Fluff and peanut butter) when there is a knock at the door. It is Sarah’s estranged brother, Luke who is twitchy and acting cagey. He needs a place to stay and asks Sarah not to tell anyone that he is there especially C.J. (Chief of Police and Sarah’s ex-husband/current paramour). Luke tells Sarah that he is an investigative reporter working on a story. Luke stays a short time, but he is soon gone without a word. When Luke’s fingerprints turn up in the Spencer’s garage and he becomes a “person of interest”, Sarah knows she must take action. Sarah finds a notebook of Luke’s in the couch that contains a list of names. Sarah hopes that Luke’s research will lead her to him. She knows her brother did not hurt the Spencer’s. Now, she has to prove it and then explain her deception to C.J. Sarah will need to stay alert and on her toes, because she is not the only person trying to find Luke!

A Good Day to Buy is nicely written and has a good pace (and flow). A Good Day to Buy can be read alone. The needed background information on Sarah is provided in the book (and she has a complicated history). There are some wonderful descriptions of antiques in the book. I love vintage items and there are several objects described that I want to own. I give A Good Day to Buy 4 out of 5 stars. I am not a fan of the romance in this series. I was very disappointed to see Sarah take up with her ex-husband again (I preferred her with Seth). He strikes me as a self-centered individual, and he does not seem happy with the new Sarah (who she has become since the divorce). I believe Sarah is with him because it is comfortable, easy, and familiar. It will be interesting to see what happens between C.J. and Sarah in the next book. The murder mystery was complex and a delight to solve. I believe many readers will be stumped by this one. The secondary storyline regarding veterans was shocking (spoiler). There are some handy garage sale tips at the end of the book. I enjoyed A Good Day to Buy better than the previous book in the series. I was especially grateful that Ms. Harris cut down on the Fluffernutter sandwich references (makes me queasy just thinking about them). I was surprised by the cliffhanger ending (and disappointed). I hope the author will resolve the issue early in the next book and not drag it out (sorry, but I do not want to spoil it for anyone).

I love this series! This time, the mystery is personal. Not only is the victim killed at a garage sale that Sarah is running, her long-lost brother is the prime suspect in the murder! I love how each new mystery gifts a glimpse into military life that civilians don't get to see.

A nicely plotted and written cozy that will keep you turning pages because things aren't always what they seem in Sarah's world! Don't fixate on the garage sale aspect of this but focus instead on the good characters and how things inter=related. What's the deal with Luke? No spoilers here! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is a quick, very entertaining read.

Great addition to this delightful series. Family and friends' flaws keep the tale flowing. Garage sale hints also provided. This was an exciting page turner that kept me glued to the tablet. Loyalty to her estranged brother and ex-husband may be a good thing or not. Read the book and find out.

Although this is Sherry Harris's fourth Garage Sale mystery, it's the first one I've read, and I'm happy to say that A Good Day to Buy works very well as a standalone. I didn't feel lost once, nor did I feel bogged down in backstory. I was a bit reluctant to read a book that focuses on garage sales, but Sarah Winston doesn't focus on just those. We also read about her attendance at estate sales as well as working with art and antiques. So it's not just about people's "cast-off junk." (I think Harris also managed to raise my opinion of garage sales as I read.)

This is an excellent, multi-layered mystery that revolves around Sarah's estranged brother. It's a chance for readers to learn some of the main character's family dynamics... speaking of which, the relationship she has with her ex-husband is an interesting one. Sarah Winston is a main character I rapidly grew to like, and I had to smile when her friend Gennie laid down the law and insisted Sarah learn self-defense after finding herself in a dangerous situation once again. I know of several other main characters in cozy mystery series who should do the same thing. Gennie could have a flourishing career.

The mystery is solved in A Good Day to Buy, but the book ends on a cliffhanger with Sarah's personal life. I was very impressed with my first Garage Sale mystery, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if I visit Sarah Winston again-- especially to see how that cliffhanger turns out.

Sarah Winston finds herself in a tough spot this time, keeping secret the fact that her brother is in town and hoping he's not involved in the murder of her client. The mystery is complex and kept me interested until the end. It also ties in incredibly well with the premise of the series, although I don't think I can explain how without venturing into spoiler-territory.

It started out okay but as the book went on it really dragged. I had a difficult time finishing it.

I really enjoyed this book. Not only did it deal with the complications of Sarah's personal life and these big life changes that are happening to her but it also dealt with something that I'd never heard of, though I gather it is a big issue. Talking about it would give too much away so I'll leave it vague but I certainly learned a lot, which was a nice surprise.

At the end of the last book, I wasn't sure that I liked our narrator, Sarah, very much. This book got her more on an even keel for me. Her brother has mysteriously shown up in town after nearly two years of estrangement. And this is right on the heels of a sale where the husband and wife were viciously attacked while Sarah was running their tag sale.
Now Sarah has to balance the love of her ex-husband (who doesn't really impress me much) with the love she has for her brother. There is also still a lot of tension between Sarah and her ex, most-eligible-bachelor attorney, Seth.
I like the way this story is heading better than the last one. This is still a fast, fun, and fluffy series worth following.

A Good Day to Buy is the fourth installment in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery series set in Ellington, Massachusetts featuring Garage Sale organizer Sarah Winston. Her business includes onsite organization as well as a virtual garage sales site, and she combines these two things with her volunteer work at the thrift shop on nearby Fitch Air Force base.

Sarah has her hands full at the sale for Velma and Verne Spencer. The elderly couple is downsizing in order to put their home on the market and move closer to their son Tim in Florida. Sarah has taken a liking to veteran Verne but Velma isn't easy to please as the woman doesn't want to give up any of her belongings no matter how useless or worthless.

Things go quickly downhill when Sarah discovers the bodies of the Spencers in their garage and soon finds herself involved in another murder investigation led by ex husband and now boyfriend Police Chief CJ Hooker. To complicate things her estranged brother Luke has appeared on her doorstep begging her not to tell anyone, including CJ, that he is in town.

Luke claims he is working on a story and needs a place to hide out for a few days. Not quite sure what her brother is involved in Sarah becomes even more anxious when Luke goes missing and a homeless man turns up dead with Luke's backpack in his possession. With her brother soon the main suspect in both murders, Sarah is determined to clear his name.

A fast paced storyline with well developed characters both returning and new. Plenty of suspects and the disturbing yet real topic of Veteran benefits being abused. A cliffhanger at the end that you won't see coming will have you searching for the next addition in the series.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am more than happy to offer my honest opinion.

This is book 4 of the Sarah Winston Garage Sale series and it can stand alone if you haven't read the previous books. It's the beginning of sale season and as Sarah starts a huge sale for people leaving for Florida she finds the husband murdered in the back yard and the wife badly hurt. Luke, Sarah's brother if back in town working on an undercover story of men faking to be Vietnam vets. As the two events collide in her life, she is working on getting back together with her ex. Great mystery story with some good tips on running a garage or yard sale. I enjoyed the story and love the characters in this story. Sarah has a major decision to make when book 5 arrives.

A Good Day To Buy is an excellent read. Sherry Harris has written a brilliant mystery. This is the first I have read in this series and it blew me away. I found I cared so much about each and every character, was so emotionally involved in the story and even cried when it was over. I have so much respect for Sherry and how she wrote this book, the great care and attention she put into each character and how she highlighted & evoked the need to show more appreciation for military families, their struggles during deployment and the much needed after care even decades later. Even though I am new to this series I can tell you that this series has so much heart you will want to read the entire series! This one is out April 25th and one to read for sure.

This was an interesting and highly entertaining cozy mystery. I loved A Good Day to Buy, the fourth book in the Garage Sale Mystery series. I thought it was the best one so far. Sarah Winston is holding a garage sale for the Spencers, an elderly couple and finds the husband, a Vietnam veteran, dead and his wife severely injured during the sale. She's extremely distressed and calls the police chief, which happens to be her ex-husband and current boyfriend.

At the same time, Sarah's long lost brother Luke, also a veteran, suddenly reappears out of nowhere after many years. He tells Sarah he's an undercover reporter, working on a secret story, and then disappears again when he's accused of the Spencer's murder. Sarah finds his notes and they involve veterans. She is determined to find her brother, clear him of the murders, and get to the bottom of his reappearance in her life, all while juggling her relationship.

The plot moved along swiftly and was interesting to read. The characters were fun and well written. The ending left us with a cliffhanger, but that makes me want to read the next book even more!

I highly recommend this book, whether you've read the other books in the series or not.

Sherry Harris has provided another crisp, engaging Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery in 'A Good Day to Buy'. Sarah is surprised by the appearance of her brother Luke shortly after a murder at one of her garage sales. The suspense as to whether or not Luke is involved in the murder is relentless and the subject matter of war veterans contributed to the suspense. Sarah's relationships with friends, family and her ex develop with an ending that will keep me guessing until the next book in the series. I hope that it is soon!

First I would like to thank Netgalley and Kensington Books for allowing me to read this advanced copy.

In this latest Garage Sale mystery a long lost brother shows up at Sarah's door. He is very secretive and says he is working on an undercover story. But with the murder's piling up she has a had time keep his secret from CJ, her ex husband. I love the little tidbits that are added into the story about restoring/rescuing old furniture. Also the cliffhanger at the end has me eager for the next book in this series. Solid story, likable characters, I can't wait to see how this series progresses.
