Jennifer Yu has written about the very issues that Young Adults are facing across the globe, and she has done it in a realistic and true to life way. As we read about five teens facing the issues that consume them - OCD, eating disorder, living in another reality, narcisstic personality disorder and depression - we are draw into their stories or recovery and new friendship.

I really enjoy books that are written from several people's point of view and I believe Yu has done this quite well while not losing the integrity of the story.

Overall, this story has been written very well, it realistically showed that recovery is ongoing that that it takes hard work to work to change.

I had so many hopes for this book but unfortunately it just didn't pan out for me. I thought this made a really strong start and there were certainly some interesting character introductions, but after that, there was little to no character development. To me, this whole book needs strong leads to really keep you going but because they weren't properly fleshed out, the plot starts to slowly fade away and concludes in an anticlimactic way.

I will say though that I do think there is an audience for this book, it unfortunately just wasn't me. If you love a YA contemporary and are taken with your standard tropes, you may be able to overlook the character issues and completely enjoy this book.
