It was a very good book and I love how Em was a very strong woman and never gave up. Abe was very brave being that he was out of place with the others but stood his ground and held his own. It was a very easy read and I finished it in a couple of days.

4 stars, possibly 4and a half stars. I am pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book. I did not read the first book in this series and was able to follow this without a problem and don't feel I missed too much. I found the information about the customs, etc. of the Navaho people very interesting. . I found much of the information on the religious cult to have a lot of similarities between the FLDS Mormons. I think I will be continuing with this series

Ive read similar books of girls disappearing during special times. The twist was the mixed race relationship. It was a nice and quick read.

Emily Etcitty is a police officer with the Navajo police. A young girl goes missing at her traditional Kinaalda and Emily connects it to other missing girls.

Emily also gets kidnapped and her brother Will and boyfriend Abe team up with the Police to save Emily and the missing girls.

It's interesting that there's so much information on traditions of the Native Americans.

An interesting book.

Darcy a teenage girl disappears during a Navajo puberty ceremony practiced by traditional families to celebrate a girl’s transition into womanhood. Emily is the Navajo police officer in charge of the investigation into what seems to be just a missing person case. She discovers other girls have disappeared under similar conditions and the pressure increases to solve the case.
Abe Freeman was once arrested by Emily as a murder suspect and later became her lover. Together they battle demons from their past in order to make their relationship work.
Emily’s puts her own life on the life when she attempts to catch the kidnapper by using herself as the lure.
I had a good feel about this story right from the very start. Sort of a mental tingly feeling which hinted I was in for a good ride and the plot kept me going all the way through. I would have loved to read the first book in the series if I had had the opportunity.
If you enjoy the grip of a good thriller combined with Navajo spirituality, folklore and a bit of romance this is the book for you.

This was a good book, however on being given the opportunity via netgalley to read this book I was not made aware that it was the second in a series featuring Emily Etcitty. I have not read the first in the series and do not think it would have made much difference but it may have given a little more insight into the character, I'm not sure but it did not affect the over all feel of this book for me. I mostly enjoyed this book and would be happy to recommend it to others

Set in New Mexico, Emily Etcitty is a police officer with The Navajo Police; she is just about to leave for the day when she picks up an incident report relating to a young girl who has gone missing from her home in the middle of her Kinaalda, her puberty ceremony. Emily is shocked to find that the report was made three hours before and that her colleague, Joe Hosteen, has been sitting on it.

When Emily arrives at Teec Nos Pos Trading Post, she finds the girl's mother, Nina Benally, distraught and surrounded by the trappings of the celebration for her daughter Darcy's big day. The whole village is out looking for the girl.

Emily is able to empathise having lost a child herself in tragic circumstances and she vows to find Darcy, whatever it takes. She is unlikely to enjoy the quiet evening she had planned with her boyfriend Abe Freeman who is the stock manager at a nearby sheep ranch.

As the search for Darcy continues, another girl, Lina, reaches puberty and her own Kinaalda. Emily sticks to the girl as preparations are made, but despite her best efforts she is unable to protect her; in fact, during the ceremonial race, she is taken along with Lina.

This has now become very personal to Abe and to Emily's brother Will and they are determined to find out where they have been taken. As can be expected they are viewed as an encumbrance by Officer Joe Hosteen, but he is unable to shake them off.

This novel moves along at a brisk pace and is full of content, from the tensions between the White People and the Native Americans, to warm and nurturing family and friends, to criminals with absolutely no compassion. There are also whisperings around what is thought to be a local cult in the area.

The plot is well thought out and there are several sub-plots well spread out amongst the many characters. This is an easy read and was very close to getting four stars, but I felt that the suspense was not heightened sufficiently to satisfy the committed crime reader. There is suspense later in the book, but the disappearance of the girls is 'solved' in the first half with only the details of the rescue attempt to stir the senses.

A good novel, but not a great one.

Abducted Innocence (Emily Etcitty #2) by Sandra Bolton , was a new series as well as a new author for me. The books description looked interesting so I gave it a try. Reading to 30% of the book, I found the characters to be flat and uninteresting, the relationship between Emily and Abe lacked feeling and connection in my opinion and the characters action in many situations (up to this point) somewhat predictable. Sadly, there just wasn’t a hook that that grabbed me and engaged me in the story.

I wish to thank Thomas and Mercer, the Author and Netgalley for providing a digital copy of Abducted Innocence by Sandra Bolton for an honest review. The review will only appear on Goodreads and will have no stars as I am calling this a "Did not finish - DNF" read, and I don't think it's fair to give stars for an incomplete read.

The expected publication date is June 20, 2017

Second book in the series and it did not disappoint. Another really good storyline and I learned a little about the Navajo culture. I did like the character of Emily although the dialogue, at times, was a bit stilted. Thank you Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads.

Abducted Innocence by Sandra Bolton.
When a Native American girl turns up missing during a traditional ceremony, Navajo police officer Emily Etcitty is on the case. What initially looks like nothing more than a routine runaway turns into a high-priority kidnapping case when a connection is made to several other missing girls under similar suspicious circumstances.
After abandoning everything on the East Coast but his loyal dog, Patch, musician Abe Freeman is still acclimating to the Southwest and his new love interest, the beautiful and beguiling Emily. It hasn’t been easy with clashing cultures and haunted pasts, but they’re committed to making it work.
Fearing for the missing girls’ safety, Emily decides to use herself as bait to set a trap for the kidnapper…and is abducted alongside another girl. Now Abe must team up with Emily’s brother and her police partner to find and save the missing girls, but the deeper they dig into the investigation, the more dangerous things become. And with the weight of a greater, far more sinister plot at play, can Emily escape the kidnapper and take him down before more girls fall victim?
OMG absolutely fantastic read with brilliant characters. Especially Emily. What she went through. I loved the story. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book. Netgalley and Thomas and mercer.

Abducted Innocence by Sandra Bolton has a good fast paced storyline.

This is the second book in a series featuring Emily Etcitty, a Navajo police officer. I have not read the first of the series, which I don't think has made any difference to the way I feel about this book.

In this story, young girls are being abducted from celebrations being held to mark their passage into womanhood and imprisoned by a cult.

While I mostly enjoyed this book, and I learned a lot about the Navajo culture, I do have a couple of issues with it. Firstly, I found the book to be a bit superficial in places. A little more depth re the police procedures would have made a big difference. Secondly, the dialogue was largely stilted.

Although an enjoyable read, it failed to captivate me, so 3.5☆

ABDUCTED INNOCENCE by Sandra Bolton. The series Emily Etticity# 2
We meet Emily a Navajo police office just given a report of a 13 year old girl missing for four hours. Time was not the element as it was her kinaalda ceremony and no girl would miss that. Digging into the case, there is a pattern of other missing teens. Emily uses herself as bait, and the new boyfriend Abe with the help of others are soon involved. The book is rich in the history of the Navajo traditions, as well as a good plot. Good reading for all ages, and again won't disappoint readers. Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

First line: "<i>Navajo police officer Emily Etcitty picked up the incident report dropped on her desk by Officer Joe Hosteen.</i>"

Sandra Bolton is a new author to me and I am quite impressed with her work after completing this novel. I was quickly pulled into the story from the very beginning. The characters are compelling, the plot line is somewhat typical of other books in this genre, but still manages to give you something new and unexpected. I found myself reading and, figuratively, sitting on the edge of my seat, desperately reading along to find out what would happen next.

Officer Emily Etcitty was born and raised on the Navajo reservation. She is a tenacious character with enough grit and ambition to get her to the next step: sergeant. She has an uncanny knowledge and wisdom of things that others may not deem suspicious. Her intuition brings her to places that put her in a position of peril, but no matter what's coming at her, she's coming back at it just as hard.

I really enjoyed reading this novel (thanks to Netgalley) and would love to read more from this author in the near future!
