This book provides several fascinating insights into a well-known and oft-visited city. I wouldn't recommend it as the only guide book to take with you on a trip, as it is not designed to help you plan out exactly how to get around or to give you detailed itineraries for your stay. but as a secondary source of information it has a lot to offer on the most famous as well as lesser known sights in Barcelona and the surrounding area.

IT was okay. I think I'll stick with Frommer's for my own taste.

Ideal travelling companion for a trip to Barcelona, ranging from Accommodations to Xocoa (a word that combines cocoa with xocolata, the Catalan word for chocolate) with all stops in between. Not so much a conventional guidebook – you’d still probably need one of those – but an excellent vade mecum which provides an excellent overview of the city, its history and culture.

This book popped up on netgalley a few days after I had booked a weekend trip to Barcelona so I couldn't help but request it. Thank you to the publisher and the author for granting me a copy of this book.

If you are looking for a standard travel guide, this probably isn't for you. The author literally goes from A to Z and covers a variety of topics. It is more like having a conversation with a friend than a guide book really and I personally loved that format. It definitely gave me some ideas that I hadn't picked up with my standard google searches and I enjoyed the author's style.

Barcelona from A to Z is A Vintage Shorts Original travel guide by Barrie Kerper.

According to the author, "For this introductory guide and directory for those traveling to Barcelona and Catalonia, I have not included all twenty-six letters of the alphabet, but the letters I have chosen to introduce words, phrases, culinary specialties, people, historical notes, excursions, and personal favorites of mine. These are all topics that are unique and iconic to Barcelona, Catalonia, or Spain."

While not every letter in the alphabet is utilized, this book is divided by categories based on letter, including Accommodations, Barcelona Metropolitan, Beaches, Books, Catalan Cuisine, Catalonia, Costa Brava, Salvador Dali, Itinerary, Museums, Las Ramblas, Tour Guide, etc.

Barcelona from A to Z is geared towards all ages, from young adults to older generations, planning to visit Barcelona or interested in learning more about the area.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
