I loved the story of the po0r creature trying to get a good winter's sleep. The kids will get a big kick out of, I'm sure. But what really made the book for me were the illustrations. They are detailed and the illustrator captures all the emotions of the different animals beautifullly.

Tortoise is trying to find a nice, quiet place to sleep, but he keeps getting interrupted! Gorgeous winter illustrations accompany this story and children will find it funny how Tortoise keeps getting woken up. My favorite part was when he accidentally falls asleep on a sled.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

I am sorry that I couldn't complete the book on time and it got expired. I am giving 1 star because of the book description. I liked the synopsis and that is why I asked for the book.

I love the illustrations in this one. The facial expressions are great and there's loads of little details on each page. The plot is okay. It makes sense, follows a simple line of logic. It wouldn't work particularly well as a read-aloud, relying as it does on visual cues for full understanding.

This book is about a Tortoise who is looking to sleep all winter. But as he tries to settle down, there is always noisy around that wakes him up. Eventually he finds what he assumes to be a safe spot to sleep but its actually a winter sled. He goes the sleep and the sled starts moving, which clause him to end up on the Ice. He eventually learns that Skating with friends in the winter is much better then sleeping and at the end he finally gets his sleep. Great book for little kids especially during Christmas winter season. Now onto my final thoughts at this link https://melimimi.blogspot.com/2017/08/a-loud-winters-nap-by-katy-hudson.html

This book is so adorable! With a lovely story and gorgeous, detailed illustrations, it's sure to be a hit with children and parents alike. While Tortoise just wants to go to sleep until spring, his friends want to include him in their fun winter activities. When Tortoise accidentally joins in he realises that maybe some tortoises do like winter after all. I loved Tortoise's teddy bear and I enjoyed seeing all of the different facial expressions of the animals in this story. This story would be fantastic to help teach children about friendship and could also be used to help them understand how people are feeling by their facial expressions.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley (thank you very much to NetGalley and Capstone) in exchange for honest feedback. I adore everything about this book and hope it finds its way into homes and libraries everywhere. I'll be revisiting this book many times. It's one of those books you read with a smile on your face.

A Loud Winters Nap by Katy Hudson is a charming picturebook. Every year Tortoise sleeps through winter. He assumes he isn't missing much. However, his friends are determined to prove otherwise! Will Tortoise sleep through another winter, or will his friends convince him to stay awake and experience the frosty fun of winter? Best-selling author Katy Hudson's charming picture book will have everyone excited for winter.

A Loud Winters Nap is a fun story about a tortoise that just wants to hibernate. He thinks winter is nothing but cold and snow, but in his attempts to find a quiet place to sleep his friends show him some of the fun to be had in the winter months. I like that tortoise and his friends have fun together, and that none of the waking tortoise is done maliciously or teasingly, rather it is by accident or with good intent. However, as someone that sleeps little and never gets to nap when I want- I do rather wish that his friends would respect his wishes and let him have his rest. However, then there would be no story.

Wonderful detailed illustrations with gentle hues and the charm of falling snowflakes. This humorous winter story about overcoming sleepy grumpiness with the fun and cheer of bird, beaver, rabbit and squirrel is contagious. Highly recommend.

Tortoises just don't like winter, and all Tortoise wants to do is take a nice, long nap until spring. Winter shenanigans keep making tortoise move from napping spot to napping spot. Will tortoise ever find a place to rest or will the birds’, beavers', rabbits', and squirrels' fun get in the way?

This is going to be a wonderful book for the winter time! Parents and kids will enjoy the adorable illustrations and fun winter activities depicted in the scenes. But the grumpy Tortoise is what wins this book. Tortoise just wants to hibernate and he just doesn't like winter, but everyone is having so much fun around him in the snow and cold and he doesn't understand why.

The book is about trying new things and also all the fun things winter can hold I think that this is really a whimsical read and if you are looking for fun things for kids in the colder months to read or to read to them this is a great addition.

If anyone has ever kept you awake then you can sympathize with tortoise in A Loud Winter's Nap by Katy Hudson. While children will love outrageous of his search for sleep, I think it will parents who can identify with him. Theme for us adults make be, if you can’t beat them, then join them.

The illustrations are brightly colored with lively expressions on the animals making the humor of this story come alive. The text is simple while still conveying the message of poor tortoise looking for a place to take a long winter’s nap. The text does not rhyme but read out loud just fine. A cute picture book that I could see becoming a child’s favorite winter story.

One should not constrained himself with one routine. Once in a while one should try something new, who knew you would experience something life changing.

A tortoise who thinks he should sleep through out winters (specially during Christmas) as per their natural call.. All tortoise do that so would he. But this Christmas was different. His friends were adamant to make him enjoy Christmas. Though tortoise tried many places for sleeping bed, his friends kept disturbing him. At last he found that Christmas was enjoyable festival, and many tortoise also stay awake to enjoy the festival.

Wonderful story, message and art work.

Poor Tortoise can't get a good winter's nap. All the other animals are busy enjoying winter but Tortoise wants nothing to do with it. The charming illustrations and humorous story kept me turning the pages. Definitely a read over and over book!

A tortoise is meant to hibernate, right? This tortoise is about to find out just how much fun winter can be despite his complaining. Sometimes all it takes is a few good friends to convince you that different can be fun too. This book would be excellent in conjunction with a winter unit or study on hibernation.
