Unfortunately. I was unable to finish this book and have to put it on my DNR list.
I was unable to connect with the character and therefore unable to get invested in this story.
I hope in the future I might try to revisit this series.

This long-running series about sexy wolf-shifters has veered into a new direction with the crossover from the Heart of the Jaguar series and all I can say is I LOVE that twist. Terry has a great way with her characters whether they are Wolves or Jaguars and she has no problem making the dramas of their lives human problems just as often as shifter-only problems. That being said this story was a little slow for me is some ways and not as memorable as some of the previous stories in the series. Jillian and Vaughn were the story of a couple that has a second chance after spotting one another in a club and not taking the chance to introduce themselves despite their connection from across the room. Jillian is on the trail of a criminal and finds Vaughn in her way, accidentally shooting him, and bringing them together in a way that will certainly be a story to tell their grandchildren one day. I liked Jillian’s independence and determination to get her man, even as she works with anyone that is able to lend a hand; she will never allow ego to get in the way of protecting her people and accomplishing her mission. I enjoyed seeing her stand up to Vaughn and she was certainly an interesting woman. Vaughn was a sexy, brave, and deadly alpha male that was also sweet at times and certainly a match for Jillian. I liked Vaughn ok in the beginning but as he worked beside Jillian and her team I started to like him even more, seeing that he was definitely a good man and one that Jillian would be able to count on for years to come. I have followed this series since the very beginning, following Terry through the different packs along the west coast, and even to a pack in Scotland, and the series keeps taking new and interesting turns, but I am beginning to lose a bit of the connection with the couples themselves so hopefully future stories will bring back that magic. And the crossover connection between this author’s two series are becoming more and more interesting and I am looking forward to seeing where this might go in the future, perhaps even a jaguar/wolf mating? Whatever happens I know I will enjoy this series for a long time to come.

SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is book 5 in Terry Spear's SEAL Wolf series. Terry Spear spins yet another action-packed tale of two PI werewolves in love. Werewolf private investigators Vaughn Greystroke and Jillian Matthews collide when pursuing fellow werewolf Douglas Wendish's attacker. Unfortunately for Vaughn, he actually ends up pursuing Jillian's brother and she shoots him. Even though they have a very inauspicious first meeting, their mutual attraction proves to be undeniable. Bullets fly, bad guys, wreak havoc, but Terry Spear balances the high- octane action sequences with humor and romance.

I love a romance in which the hero and heroine have a lot in common, and there is a mutual respect and admiration in addition to a physical attraction. Jillian and Vaughn have both been in the military and are now both PIs. Naturally, Jillian is initially a little prickly with Vaughn since he was chasing down her brother, but that issue goes away the longer they get to know each other. I love how Vaughn is drawn to Jillian's intelligence, toughness, and personality, and respects her as a fellow investigator. The teasing between this hero and heroine draws out the sexual tension and makes it all the more amazing when they give in to their desire for each other.

This is a romance full of mystery and suspicious characters galore. It becomes evident pretty early in the story who the bad guys are, but the intrigue comes from trying to figure out the specifics in the intricate conspiracy of thieves. Vaughn and Jillian work with their jaguar counterparts to try and follow the money trail and trip up the assorted villains in their lies. Jillian's brother, and his love life and secrets, throw a nice element of uncertainty in the mix. Jaguar shifters Everett, Demetria, and Howard make great teammates for Vaughn and Jillian, and the chemistry and comradery add a fun spark to a great story.

SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is a riveting story with a werewolf and jaguar avengers, and a dazzling romance. Since Douglas took so much punishment in this book, without getting a sweetheart of his own, I hope to read his story in a future Terry Spear book. I eagerly await Terry Spear's next sizzling werewolf romance.

SEAL Wolf Undercover is the fifth book in the SEAL Wolf series by Terry Spear is the 22nd book in the Heart of the Wolf series. Even though I have read most, if not all, of this series I still felt a it like I was missing something when I started this book. While parts of the story stand up fine on its own, there are a lot of important bits that only those that have been following the series will fully enjoy. However, even for us, after twenty something books even some of us have forgotten things that were important.

Special wolf agent Jillian Matthews has joined the jaguar-run United Shifter Force to track down a deadly criminal. She’s even willing to work with PI Vaughn Greystroke—until the hot, growly SEAL wolf makes the mistake of getting in her way. Naturally, she shoots him. Who could blame her? Vaughn Greystroke has always worked alone. But when a string of attempted murders puts him in the crosshairs, teaming up with the Shifter Force begins to sound like a good idea. Even if he has to work with alluring—and potentially treacherous—Jillian Matthews. Vaughn is a trained SEAL, after all. He can surely keep his distance from Jillian...no matter how much she’s getting under his skin.

SEAL Wolf Undercover is a romance with lots of action, plenty of detective work and mingling of characters from different storylines, not all of which I remember or felt like I needed. I liked that Jillian is independent and capable, but I do not feel like her or Vaughn were completely fleshed out. There are the trust issue, which was fine, and the shifter instant mate connection thing, which was not unexpected. However, I think there was very little focus on the couple, it was more about the twisted plot that resulted in people getting shot or otherwise injured. I do like that Jillian and Vaughn were both investigators, so they withheld judgement and trust for a good while, but there was very little working things out together, it all just fell together too easily for me. However, I think this might just be my personal burn out due to the number of books I have read from the author, and my apparent inability to stop reading them even when I know I need to take a break.

SEAL Wolf Undercover is exactly what one expects from this series, however I think I need a break from it, after I finish the one related book I still have in my queue. It is good, but starting to feel too complicated to keep all the interwoven stories straight, and too little about the couple the book is about.

SEAL Wolf Agent Jillian Matthews planned to meet up with her brother while she started working on a case with a Jaguar United Shifter Force. When she shows up, her brother is missing and another shifter has been shot. When she hears her brother’s distress, she runs to the woods and shoots a wolf that seems intent on attacking her brother. Vaughn Greystoke didn’t expect to be shot after chasing a wolf from a cabin where his friend had been shot. He certainly didn’t expect to have to work with another wolf and a group of jaguars to try to figure out what happened, but the more he’s around Jillian, the more he can’t help but want to trust her and get a bit closer to her.
This story was ok. There were parts that I liked and parts that were meh. I think some of my problem is with the side characters. I didn’t particularly like Jillian’s brother’s actions or his interactions with Jillian. It actually changed the book from a 4 to a 3 for me. I did like Jillian and Vaughan together, especially as they pieced together how far back everything was interwoven.
I recommend.

"Seal Wolf Undercover" for me was an okay read. PI Vaughn and Agent Jillian, both wolf shifters became romantically involved while working together, as well as working with jaguar shifters. Getting to know each other and trying to find and catch the criminals, I felt there were just too much going on at one time with the many different characters. You have both good guys and bad guys, and it took too much time for me to really connect with the characters. Vaughn and Jillian do however, get their HEA. That being said, I would recommend it for young adults that love romance and fun shifter stories, with some suspense tossed in. I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Seal Wolf Undercover". My opinion is my own. This is mine 3 Stars!

Unraveling a mystery always makes for a great plot. It’s how an author weaves the story that creates an experience to remember and Ms. Spear found a unique hook that I totally could get into.

When Jillian shot the hero, Vaughn, not only was it totally unexpected but once he figures out just who shot him, the sparks start to fly. What I found fascinating is there were so many people shooting at one time or another, I could never figure out who was the criminal. Who really was against whom and just who were the bad guys and where’d they come from and why in the world were they in this little town anyway? Then to find out not only who they were but WHAT they were just sucked me into the adventure. There was so much to find out in this novel that it was easy to keep flipping the pages into the wee hours of the morning.

Imagine my surprise when I found some of the characters were channeling Mel Fisher in their pursuits. That was another treat for me because I love stories like that. It’s a lure that many people would find hard to resist.

There are a lot of smiles throughout the story every time Jillian and Vaughn are together. Their dialogue was fun, snappy and gave me insight into their personalities. Then of course there is the romance which completely worked for me. I liked the heat and how it evolved their relationship towards the next step. In fact the author used a lot of scent references to engage a reader’s senses. There’s a lot of sensual imagery as well to keep readers who like the hot stuff very happy.

Ms. Spear delivered some action packed scenes that were well written, suspenseful and very believable. I mean, once I got to the part when the motivation was revealed, it was so human. This might be a paranormal romance story but the people are just like every other human you read about – including the criminals. This was a very down to earth kind of plot conflict and it worked, probably because one of the villains was so understated for most of the book. What a surprise!

Seal Wolf Undercover is an action story about people with motivations like folks that might live next door to you, except they go furry. Some of their problems are unique to being shifters but the way Ms. Spear writes about her characters never seem farfetched. Being able to relate to a hero and heroine’s emotions and cheer for them as they overcome challenges as they fall in love is one of the best things about this author’s books. Her characters get me every time. This was really fun read and a solid recommend to other paranormal romantic suspense readers.

SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is a good read with witty banter between two strong shifters and a plot that evolves into something bigger than you think it will be when starting the story. The rhythm of the plot is pretty steady and moves in a typical way you'd expect from a book in the Heart of the Wolf series. I was a bit let down that one of the main romantic pairs wasn't a jaguar considering they featured in the story so much. That would have been awesome but at least we get to see the wolves and jaguars work together to hunt the bad guys in this book.

On the romance front, the relationship between Vaughn and Jillian is a slow burn. It's actually so slow that it kind of took a back seat to the main story many times. I liked them together as theirs is a relationship full of snark and bickering (so you know they are destined to be together). Both Vaughn and Jillian are so super headstrong to the point that I wasn't sure they'd end up together which would have been a pretty cool twist in a paranormal romance.

Unlike the previous Heart of the Wolf books, SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER wasn't that interesting or exciting to me. Typically the action, story, and romance is pretty solid in these books. I enjoyed it well enough but I just wasn't as drawn to anything here as much as I had been in the other books in this series.

I really love the Seal Wolf series, this book #5 is filled with intrigue, action, bad guys, romance and some very steamy interaction between Jillian and Vaugh.

In this series, the jaguar-run United Shifter Force who tracks down deadly criminals keeps getting more involved and more interesting. In this book, the United Shifter Force are looking to recruit some wolf agents so they come to help with an attempted murder and to talk to both Jillian and Vaugh about joining their elite group.

Though this book includes lots of interesting characters and several plots running parallel the author does a superb job of keeping the reader enthralled and clear on what is going on.

Jillian is an alpha female and she pushes all of Vaugh's buttons. The tension and adversarial interaction between these two keeps this book lively. This is one strong determined woman who can take care of herself.

Primary male character is Vaugh and his lust for Jillian starts early in the book and then goes widely awry as his friend is almost killed and Jillian is the one who found him. Vaugh knows how to get what he wants and protect his friends so this throws him into conflict regarding whether to trust Jillian or not.

I give this 4.75 stars for being an entertaining read.

Although their first meeting was rather low keyed as they flirted across a club’s dance floor but never got to connect. Vaughn and Jillian’s second meeting was… memorable, nothing like shooting a handsome, sexy wolf that gets his attention focused on you. To be fair, tensions were high, he was chasing her brother and no one knew the good guys from the bad guys… then. When a friend is mauled and near death from the attack more questions than answers seem to be found. Right then Jillian had no idea who to trust, she’d soon learn that she’d shot one of the good guys… and her mate.

SEAL Wolf Undercover will reunite us with characters from A Very Jaguar Christmas. I absolutely love seeing the wolves and jaguars begin to work together. Letting both shifter groups align and work hand in hand brings so much more to this series in enjoyment and possibilities. Part of the fun, for me, in following a long running series is discovering old friends and what whey’re up to now.

This time around we have an attack on a pack mate, mysterious shifters sneaking around causing chaos, a lot of if not secrets then things family didn’t know about other members, a sexy romance and seeing old friends once again. SEAL Wolf Undercover offers a lot in one package, but most of all an enjoyable, tension filled story. I like Jillian. She’s sassy, smart and takes no crap from any man. Vaughn is definitely sexy and stubborn, and when he’s not being suspicious of everyone a very enjoyable partner in more than solving crime. As a couple they work, and will have some memorable tidbits to pass down to the kids one day.

With such a long ongoing series it’s difficult to recommend that you go back to the beginning if this is your first encounter with these wolves and jaguars. I know the cost and time that would take. I don’t believe you “have” to have read the other stories in either series, but it would make for a more enjoyable read if you know everyone’s back story, in my opinion. There was an interesting note from the author in the very back of this book which is making me think about going back to the beginning for a re-reading session with some of the earlier characters. Nothing specific, just a hint of what might be coming down the line. In any event, I am looking forward to Ms Spear’s next release which will once again give us a Christmas with old friends.

I would not hesitate to recommend SEAL Wolf Undercover or any of the other stories in these series. You’ll find a good solid story, likable characters, mystery, danger and definitely sexy moments.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I was very excited when I first learned that Ms. Spear would be intertwining the worlds of her wolf and jaguar shifter stories. Having read so many of both series, combining the two seemed like the perfect next step. And even though there was a good deal that I enjoyed about SEAL Wolf Undercover, I admit that my feelings are somewhat mixed.

On the plus side, many of the more prominent things that appealed in earlier stories—including errable but lovable alpha males falling for tough, capable women—are present in SEAL Wolf Undercover. Jillian is confident, strong, and perfectly able to take care of herself. Vaughn is mostly a loner, a little arrogant, and can’t help but be instantly attracted to Jillian the moment he sees her. The feeling is mutual, though, and the inevitability of the two main characters getting together is something of a hallmark of the companion series.

Additionally, Ms. Spear incorporates familiar characters and a healthy dose of humor into this new world, which is something I’ve always appreciated. Vaughn and Jillian’s introduction isn’t at all how most couples would get their start, but it creates a running gag throughout the story that establishes surprisingly solid footing for the rest of their relationship. Carrying the original groundwork and characters of the “United Shifter Force” into SEAL Wolf Undercover also provided a recognizable foundation on which additional stories might build.

Although SEAL Wolf Undercover is consistent with the others in the series I’ve read, there were a few concerns that made it difficult for me to fully settle into the story. Various technical issues that hadn’t been addressed in the ARC I received for this review were hard to ignore, but will hopefully be resolved in the final version. Repetition of phrasing, occasionally confusing establishment of the chain of events, ambiguity in regards to which character is speaking in some scenes, spontaneous POV shifts, and so forth, all kept the narrative from feeling as solid as some in the past have been.

Though it has a rough patch or two, SEAL Wolf Undercover has many other good things to recommend it. Like the other stories, it includes a mystery to be solved, a whirlwind romance, and a loving forever that fans of the series are sure to enjoy. Regardless, the introduction of the groups of shifters has unlocked an expansive set of new possibilities, and I’m hopeful for the future of the series overall.

Jillian is determined to keep her brother safe and clear him of the attack on another shifter. Vaughn is determined to keep Jillian close so he can find out the truth of her brother's involvement in the investigation. Both Jillian and Vaughn are PIs used to working alone. Now they have to learn to work together and with the newly established shifter unit to solve this case.
There's lots of suspense and lots of chemistry between Jillian and Vaughn. Can they solve the case and work out their relationship?

I hate to have to say that this book was not for me. I enjoyed learning about the case involved in this story but found it to be slow as it was a while before we got a lead and things started to pick up a little. I did however enjoy the romance between Vaughn and Jillian. I liked how caring and protective he was to Jillian and found him to be a sweet and kind character. It would have been nice to have had more information about the jaguars and shifters such as the world they lived in, how they lived, their culture as I had a hard time understanding the parts of the story they were involved in.

Maybe it’s because this is the 22nd in a long line of books in the series but I just never connected with this story. It was a tough read. Mainly because I just didn’t seem interested. The story was fine but I think the series has done as much as they can possibly do already.

It wasn’t that it is a bad book. It’s not. I think someone reading this for the first time would find it quite interesting. And I enjoyed the wolf/jaguar romance. I will probably go back and re-read this story at some point just to see if my opinion changes.

SEAL Wolf Undercover is my first Terry Spear novel and I really enjoyed myself while reading it. With it being the #22 in the Heart of the Wolf series I did not feel lost at any point in the plot. Like most PNR series I’m sure each book has its own plot line with inter-crossing world building and characters. In fact I was curious about some of the secondary characters so I researched them and the jaguar couple has their own book in the Heart of the Jaguar series (A Very Jaguar Christmas #5) so I may start reading that series from the beginning since it’s a shorter series. But someone new to the series like me can easily jump in with SEAL Wolf Undercover.

Jillian and Vaughn start with a physical attraction after spotting each other across a dance floor at a club 6 months before the real story starts. They are brought back together to finally meet after she shoots him while he is chasing her brother. Taking about awkward.

With both having military back grounds and now work as PIs, the two of them work together to investigate a series of shootings and attacks within their shifter community. The chemistry between the two are super charged and their dialogue was fun to read.

SEAL Wolf Undercover had many elements that kept me reading on and wanting to know what would happen. Mystery, action, sexy and great dialogue. I look forward to reading more from Terry Spears.

This was a fun addition to the SEAL Wolf series – fast paced and full of mystery. Even though Jillian and Vaughn didn’t trust each other right away, they didn’t fall in to the “fighting the inevitable” trap. The chaos around them took care of the sexual tension for them. I liked that the story kept you guessing until the end, and there was enough romance to counteract the drama. I just thought there was too much telling and not showing. That being said….I enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next installment.

SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is the twenty-second installment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal, romance series. This is PI and former SEAL Vaughn Greystroke, and Special wolf agent Jillian Matthews’ story line. SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER crosses over with the HEART OF THE JAGUAR series, as the author continues to build the USF-United Shifter Force headed by the jaguar team of Demetria, Everett and Howard first introduced in A VERY JAGUAR CHRISTMAS.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Vaughn and Jillian) SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER follows the search for a potential killer. Vaugn Greystroke’s Colorodo pack mate and friend Douglas Wendish was attacked and left for dead while on vacation in the backwoods of Oregon, and the first person to stumble upon the scene is Special wolf agent Jillian Matthews, who shoots first and asks questions later including shooting our hero Vaughn Greystroke. But Vaughn struggles with the possibility that Jillian’s brother Miles is a suspect and the fact that Miles refuses to come forward places Vaughn in an awkward position as he quickly comes to realize that Jillian is his mate. Enter jaguar shifters Demetria, Everett and Howard, who along with Jillian and Vaughn, set out to hunt for the shifter responsible. What ensues is the fast-building relationship between Jillian and Vaughn, and the realization that Douglas Wendish kept secret his reasons for his most recent vacation

SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is a detailed story with mystery, intrigue, family, friendship, romance and love. There are moments of humor and fun, action and danger, sexy times and a happily ever after. The relationship between Jillian and Vaughn begins as a case of mistaken identity as Vaughn targets Miles, and Jillian targets the shifter threatening her brother. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. The sexual energy was low key as the story line focused on the search for the truth and the hunt for a potential killer. Jillian’s brother Miles struggles for meaning in his life but what he finds are lies and betrayal.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including both wolf and jaguar shifters. The requisite evil has many faces but not all necessarily with the same end-game in mind.

SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is a lighthearted, spirited and energetic look at the supernatural. The premise is engaging; the characters are colorful and passionate; the romance is intimate and fated. SEAL WOLF UNDERCOVER is a satisfying and delightful addition to Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal series.

SEAL Wolf Undercover, by Terry Spear is an interesting paranormal suspense romance.

As a former SEAL and current PI, Vaughn Greystroke understands the power of following his instincts, especially since he's also a wolf. Yet Vaughn didn't follow his instincts and introduce himself to Jillian Matthews, when he first spotted her from across the room at a dance club. However, their second introduction was extremely memorable, since she shot him.

While trying to protect their fellow wolf (and jaguar) friends, Vaughn and Jillian are forced to collaborate together to find the enemy. As the story unfolds, they deal with family issues, pack member problems, and an on-going mystery.

Since it's the fifth book in the SEAL Wolf series, it's ideal to start with the first book to properly meet all the characters, yet it's not necessary to read the books in order. I was introduced to the series with this book.

SEAL Wolf Undercover is geared towards those who enjoy reading paranormal mystery romances.

Book 22!! Don't let that intimidate you, so far the ones I have read can be read as standalone, this is my fourth book of the Heart of a Wolf series and each one is a great story with no overlapping story arc. This is also book five in the SEAL Wolf series. This one starts and it just kind of throws you into it after the prologue, which introduces you into some of the main characters. The pace of the story is good with some slow parts in between action packed ones, and a nice romance. I wish I had started reading Terry Spear sooner.

Vaughn Greystroke is a former NAVY SEAL turned PI, as a private investigator he has become accustomed to working alone. Jillian Matthews is former Army Intelligence turned PI, but she has recently been asked to assist a group of Jaguar shifters and their group United Shifter Force. Jillian has a personal stake in the matter it was her brother who was shot at, she was suppose to meet up with him when he was a no show she went to another wolf shifter's house to see if he was there what she found was the shifter with his throat almost ripped out. Vaughn was on his way to talk to the alpha of the area about a possible team up when he decided to swing by and visit his pack mate and friend what he found was a wolf with a bloody muzzle, he took off after the wolf only to be shot at by someone else. When Vaughn makes it back to his cabin he finds three jaguar shifters and one wolf shifter, the wolf shifter Jillian admits that she is the one who shot him because he was chasing her brother. Then Vaughn promptly passes out and has to be taken to the shifter clinic.

Vaughn agrees to team up with Jillian and the USF team to find out what happened to his friend. All the while looking up leads and trying to track down Jillian's brother Vaughn and Jillian grow closer the chemistry between them is palpable, I mean it gets pretty amusing their banter and kind of shy feelings toward each other. Vaughn embarrassingly buys Jillian a coloring book and color pencils when she gets injured to keep her occupied while recovering. They are very sweet and I really do love, in this series, that they don't have sex until they are ready to mate and that it is part of the bonding process.

Overall, this was another great one by Terry Spears. Four Star Book
