The author presents, in eight unrelated short stories, a glimpse into the lives of Indians, both in India and living as immigrants.
No happily ever after here, just people looking for some human connection in a complicated society.
Beautifully written, nuanced, open-ended stories raise more questions than they answer.
Recommended.

I started reading this book with no expectations and found myself pulled into the characters worlds from the first story. I enjoyed immersing myself in a culture that I am only tangentially familiar with. I really liked that the stories took place both in India and the United States.
While not every character was sympathetic, each character was authentic. They all felt like real people with real foibles. A Life of Adventure and Delight was an excellent introduction to Akhil Sharma's writing. I look forward to reading more
