I didn't enjoy the novel and so did not finish it. The main character didn't appeal to me and I found the story a little boring

Sunshine Mackenzie has been an online personality that went viral and is about to make the move to traditional media with a food show on tv, but her personality has been built on a complete lie and it is all going to be exposed. On the way to a birthday party, Sunshine's twitter is hacked and all the secrets are revealed and it send her life on a completely different path.

I flipped and flopped on this book. There were moments when I loved Sunshine's story and I was excited to see how she would recovery and redeem herself and then there were times where I didn't like her at all and she would do something that was completely unappealing and I sort of pulled for the person that outed her. I felt as though Sunshine felt flat a lot and she didn't have depth and I was worried she wouldn't be able to learn from this life blunder.

I like Laura Dave's work and while this may not be my favorite, I am still excited to get caught up on her backlist and anticipate what is to come.

This was a happy, quick story that I read in a couple sittings. It was fun and engaging, although the ending felt a little too tidy for me to truly believe it.

Great idea for a book and really well executed. A thoroughly good read. Highly recommended. .

I enjoyed the humor throughout this book! And at the same time, the story is an honest look at people, relationships, and family. Sunshine is an online culinary star. She has a huge following. But she wakes up one morning, well not just any morning, but her birthday and by the end of the day everything will have changed. By the end of the day, she loses her husband, her home , and her job.

A good summer read, but not Laura Dave’s best work in my opinion. The story got off to a slow start for me. It does demonstrate the power of social media to interfere in our lives. I will look forward to reading Dave’s next book.

I really enjoyed Hello Sunshine - a book about cooking, behind the scenes of show production and family drama hits all the right notes for me! It was an interesting story to follow, as we watch Sunshine's career and marriage implode and then as she returns home to pick up the pieces and decide what to do next. I did wish for a little more time in watching Sunshine deal with her past and relationships, and I thought it wrapped up a little neatly and quickly, but that didn't detract from the book as written.

Sunshine is hostess of food tv show when she crashes and burns after her computer is hacked and it is revealed that her husband is cheating on her with her assistant. Her fall from grace is catastrophic. She has to return to her small town family home and deal with the featured relationship she has with her sister.

The best part about a Laura Dave book is her imagery! She paints a picture with her words!! While this isn't my favorite of her books, the views are gorgeous. The characters, especially Sammy, will have you smiling. Overall a light and quick read

It was a quick read that I thought was perfect for vacation. I could not always relate to Sunshine but I liked the concept of having to pick her life back up together in the last place she thought she'd end up!

Thank you to Net Galley and Simon & Schuster for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book and read it in one sitting. Although some of the characters came off as very unlikeable and the ending was wrapped up a little too neatly for me, this was a great read. Sunshine has it all, a successful career and a loving marriage, things couldn't get much better. Then one day it all blows up as someone seeks to destroy Sunshine's life, piece by piece. She loses everything and has to return home to her estranged sister to try and put her life back together. An interesting story and take on the digital age and the power of social media, Laura Dave has written another great book.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

I really wanted to like this book. I have recently read a lot of books set in the past and I was looking forward to this one, especially the reality tv aspect. Overall I would say this was disappointing. I didn't like the main character from the start but the story itself started off strong. Unfortunately, it seemed to tail off and I found myself not caring too much about the ending. I liked Eight Hundred Grapes better.

I did not enjoy this book are all. I found the lead character to be so annoying and unlikeable. The writing style is great. I just could not get past the heroine.

Hello, Sunshine is a novel whose main character is a chef who has an enormous following on youtube and has been offered a show on the food network. What happens to her is a result of being dishonest and also allowing others to persuade her to do things that she probably would not do on her own. As the novel progresses Sunshine's life begins to unravel. I believe the plot of this novel could indeed happen to someone. What happens when you are rich and famous? Do you cut corners? Do you put your marriage "on the back burner' as you continue to chase success? Without giving away the ending this novel is one that is worth reading. Kudos to Laura Dave. The only part of the novel that I found a bit unrealistic was the character development of the head chef at the restaurant. I did not think he seemed credible although I have never worked in a restaurant so I may be incorrect. I really enjoyed reading this.

We live in the age of social media and inauthenticity. We curate our lives through what we post on our social media accounts, which has become a whirlwind for disaster and people feeling like they aren't good enough. I feel like Hello, Sunshine speaks to that on so many accounts, but it's something almost all of us are guilty of doing.

Now let's get my big complaint out of the way - there are handful of things in the book that are never explained - like how a certain leak was even obtained by the person who revealed the secret. Not to mention all the other things that were just left out. But whatever. It's fine. It's fine.

I really disliked pretty much everyone in the book, even Sunshine - it's always weird when you're not really on the protagonist's side. I did, however, quite like Ethan, and wish there would've been more of the story when it came to his character.

I also wasn't a fan of the ending, because I felt it was too open-ended, and I was just also really unhappy with the decision made.

Overall, I thought the novel was a fun and fast read. It was heavy on the chick lit themes, and is a perfect summer beach read. I found it a bit reminiscent of Sweetbitter, but better. I'd definitely recommend Hello, Sunshine if you're looking for a fun, light read.

I mostly read non-fiction, but I like to pick up a novel now and then when one catches my eye. The description for this book on NetGalley appealed to me, since as bloggers I think we’re all pretty familiar with just how different some people’s social media portrayals are from their reality.

This was an enjoyable read – very much a beach read or a good airplane book. The plot is a little predictable in places, but still fun. I rarely say this, but I could’ve used an epilogue – a few too many loose ends for my taste.

I wasn't a fan of this one although it had a very strong beginning and interesting setup. I found the characters very unlikable and about halfway through it started to really not work for me. I thought the ending was forced and I never felt like the book became the redemption story I expected. Review on Goodreads, I don't post reviews lower than 3 stars on Amazon.
