I am a huge fan of Mary Kubica's writing and this is probably my favorite of all of hers. While this particular story was a bit slower than my liking, it really picked up about half way through and left me staying up past my bedtime to figure out what caused this horrible tragedy

This book was a quick read for me. I enjoy Mary Kubica's writing style and the twists and turns of her suspense novels. Like other Kubica novels Every Last Lie will have the reader grasping to figure out the whys and hows but in the end the lies are too many, the characters too flawed that it hard to pinpoint how this will end.
Every Last Lie is told in the alternating perspectives of Clara’s investigation into the death of her husband, Nick and in Nick’s voice of his last months leading up to his accident. Amazing suspense novel about grief, death, family relationships and lies.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that EVERY LAST LIE is not my favorite of Kubica's books. There's a little bit of "much ado about nothing" as it turns out and I had trouble identifying with the main character. Even so, I was frantically flipping pages to find out what would happen next. I worried about Maisie and Felix. I felt heartbroken for Clara and Nick. Kubica is a master at suspense and infusing her stories with questions that keep the reader turning pages. I can't wait for her next book. I hope it will have a little more complexity to it, but either way, it's going on my TBR list.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Park Row Books, and Mary Kubica for the advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review. Clara Solberg and her husband seem to have it all. A lovely home, a preschool aged daughter and infant son, and a successful dental practice. One evening coming home from his daughter's ballet recital, Nick and Maisie crash into a tree. Tragically, Nick dies and Clara is left to pick up the pieces. She becomes obsessed with the idea that her husband was run off the road. Was it the mysterious woman that had a restraining order against her husband, her violent neighbor, or someone closer to the family? Clara finds herself immersed in a mystery with many suspects, uncovers secrets that surround her husband, and finds the determination and shear will to uncover the truth.

Mary Kubica has written another highly engrossing and suspenseful book. The story is told by Clara and Nick, alternately. Every one of the characters feels real, but sometimes not likable. I felt sorry for Clara, who tries to hold on to her sanity with a fractious 4 year old, a new born and no sleep, having suddenly lost her husband. She barely holds on, and you watch her decline as the pressure becomes to much. I was surprised that she was not held responsible for some of her actions. A couple of things did not make sense. Why did she not know what color and make a car her mother owned? Why didn't her father disable the car to stop her mother from driving the car? I wondered if Clara ever found the gambling account.

Mary Kubica has delivered again with a great thriller. I have loved all of Mary's books and once again she has not disappointed me. She had me from the first page and the ending was so totally different than what I thought it would be. I highly recommend it if you want a great pace book with a great twist.

Solid suspense but I do wonder why these women act the way they do in these stories. Overcome by grief, Clara is determined to prove her husband's death was not an accident. But she does have a hard time coming to a decision as to who did it and why.

I have to remember that when I pick up her books that I have to stop the world. I can't review without spoiling. So, just get it and order out for pizza to read it. So many plot twists!!!

I'm reading Every Last Lie for the second time and it's like my first. This book is consuming me. My mind. My dreams. Just like truth consumed Clara. Brilliant, Mary! Just brilliant!!
This book is a roller coaster of sharp twist and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat not knowing what's going to happen next. When you think you have the bad man figured out, wrong, think again. He's not who you expect.
Clara looses her husband tragically and suddenly. The events that follow his death have you wondering what's real and not real. What's a lie and not a lie. Who's a friend and not a friend. Whether you can even trust your own mind.
Don't miss out on the book that everyone will be talking about this spring! Every Last Lie is a beautiful, yet suspenseful, dark at times book that you just can't put down!

I have mixed feelings about this novel. I found it to be a compelling and suspenseful story - until the puzzling final pages _ but the characters, most notably the wife Clara, to be quite unbelievable and unrelatable.
I hope there is more editing to be done as there are glaring inconsistencies - after a while the newborn baby is barely mentioned, even though it would be unlikely that Clara could carry out some of the things she did with a newborn to care for. It apsi seems odd that she would have no friends at all and her only support comes fro her father.
The novel alternates between the viewpoints of Nick and Clara. I actually found his character, even as he became more desperate, to be more believable than his wife.
I personally prefer novels focusing on character development and interrelationships rather than plot devices. If you like a fast paced novel with a lot of twists and turns you will enjoy this novel.

Wow, I am sorry to leave a negative review but I am seriously confused by the point of this book. There is no actual mystery here, at all. Husband drives too fast and dies. That's it! Oh look, here is a receipt for a necklace, maybe he is having an affair....nope, just a necklace for the wife! Oh look, here is a woman claiming to have his illegitimate child...nope, not his child! Oh look, here is the daughter freaking out about a scary black car, let's spend the whole book trying to figure out who was driving it...nope, nothing to do with the accident! Oh look, here's a whole subplot about a mother with dementia, nope, has nothing to do with anything really! I kept reading to figure out what the mystery was and then there is no mystery. Almost 300 pages to learn that yep, the accident happened exactly as the police said it did at the very beginning. Who cares?!

Mary Kubica has done it again--- she has written a book that kept me up every night past my bedtime because I didn't want to put it down! Great characters, fantastic storyline, and kept me guessing until the end.

Suspenseful page turner that has more than enough twists and plots to keep you eagerly reading to the last page.

I absolutely love everything Mary Kubica writes! Her writing seems so effortless, nothing forced, hooking you from the start. I love that her books are filled with such mystery without being gorey. Thank you for another wonderful read!

4.5 Stars!!!
What an epic thriller!!! If you're a Mary Kubica fan like I am, you know she blows your mind with her brilliant intricately spun plots!! Every Last Lie was everything I hoped it would be (and more)! Throughout the entire book I was completely confounded with what exactly happened to Clara's husband, Nick!! I loved how Mary Kubica told the story by time-hopping between Clara's "now" and Nick's "before", it fit the storyline perfectly!! I will say that I had a couple conspiracy theories, but I was waaaaay wrong!! If you are in the mood for a mystery/thriller that will leave you in the edge of your seat, than Every Last Lie is the book for you!!! Go check it out!!

This was another enjoyable read by one of my favourite authors, Mary Kubica!
EVERY LAST LIE by MARY KUBICA is an interesting, thrilling, suspenseful, and cleverly written novel that has a really engaging storyline and solid characters that grabbed my attention from the very first chapter.
MARY KUBICA delivers an impressive read here told in the alternating perspectives of Clara’s investigation into the death of her husband, Nick and in Nick’s voice of his last months leading up to his accident. The only thing that I found a little distracting was that there were no chapters separating Clara’s and Nick’s stories. They just ran into each other and I found that I had to go back and re-read to see if I was reading Clara’s perspective or Nick’s. Once I realized that there were no tell-tale signs to differentiate the two then I found it a little easier to follow along with the storyline and all the characters involved. (I am sure this was just a NetGalley formatting issue though and won't be like this on the actual print copy when released.)
I found it a really interesting read that explores how when are minds are so tormented with grief it can really mess with our psyche and how we ultimately perceive things as being the truth or fiction. I could really relate to how Clara reacted to her overwhelming grief as she presented with quite a few things that I know that I would and could have done. Can’t sleep, can’t eat, can’t think straight, can’t function normally, overactive imagination, and obsessive behaviour to name a few.
To sum it all up it was an entertaining, fast-paced, and an easy read with an unexpected but satisfying ending. Highly recommend!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Mary Kubica, and Harlequin (US & Canada) / Park Row Books for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

Two Sisters Lost in a Coulee Reading

When Clara learns that her husband, Nick, was killed in a car crash, her world turns completely upside-down. With a newborn baby and a four year old to think about, not to mention sorting through finances and documents, and dealing with her own mounting grief, Clara is constantly on the edge; and things don't improve when her daughter Maisie starts waking up in the middle of the night screaming about a bad man following her and her father, creating a nagging doubt at the back of Clara's mind. Was Nick really the one to blame for his own death?
Told in alternating POVs that switched between Clara's account of her grief and her own investigation into her husband's death, and Nick's life in the months leading up to the accident, this is a fast-paced and very entertaining read. Although I went into it with my mind set on one outcome, I did find myself doubting my guessing abilities and at many points I found myself wondering, is Clara slowly losing her mind, or is she really on to something?
It might not have been the best, most exhilarating mystery I've ever picked up, but it does a wonderful job of showing the stages of grief and how fragile our minds are when we lose a loved one. Even though I've never been in the same position as Clara, I was able to truly connect to her struggles.
A really good book if you're in need of a quick read and in the mood for a mystery. Definitely check it out when you're available!

Really great story from Kubica. I've read a few from her and know to to expect the unexpected. No disappointments here. I like how the story unfolded from the two perspectives.

Clara’s life implodes when her husband is killed in a car crash. Her four-year old daughter, Maisie who was in the car with Nick, is not hurt. The police rule the crash an accident, but not long after, Maisie begins to have terrible nightmares, leading Cara to believe there may have been more than just bad luck to blame for the accident. Told in both Clara and Nick’s voices in the run up to the accident, Clara will soon realize how little she knew the man she called her husband. Once again, Kubica delivers a high octane thriller with more than a few surprises for readers
