I absolutely love this authors books, you know that as soon as you've got a copy you're in for a treat! I curled up on the sofa and lost a wee while racing through the pages. In #TheMother we catch up with London Detective Sarah Mason and her ex Graham Boyd who is also in the Force.

If you're a parent one of your worst fears would be if your child was to be abducted and it would probably tip you over the edge if the reason was something you had done in your past. Sadly this is what happened to Sarah and her ex Graham and the search is obviously taken out of her hands but the whole force is on the hunt for the perpetrator.

It certainly made me anxious when the threat of what could happen to her daughter. It reminded me of s time when my oldest son wandered off in a supermarket, I was just a blubbering mess and couldn't think straight, thankfully the security guard captured him before he escaped the store.

I read this sometime ago, I apologise for the massive delay in reviewing.

Read for an honest review. Thanks to Mr Raven, #Netgalley and Avon Books UK

A definite must read crime thriller with a strong female detective that will do anything to get her daughter back.

Following Detective Sarah Mason on the hunt for her daughter who has been taken by someone that is punishing Sarah for something that she has done. This broke my heart and can't imagine what a parent would go through having their child taken.

This book was action packed from the opening chapter to the very last. It had me holding my breath on several occasions and I just wanted them reunited. I love the characters they were well developed and I am definitely shipping Sarah and her ex- Adam. I liked that she didn't over involve herself in the investigation and that you could feel the emotion coming through her on every page.

Definitely need to read more books by Jaime Raven this one just about had me throwing the book across the room it was that anxiety provoking.

I have read previous novels by Jaime, and was not disappointed when I tackled this one! I grew up reading books by the Queens of East End crime, and Jaime can be considered as a princess ......
Bloody well done,

The mother by jaime raven.
South London detective Sarah Mason is a single mother. It’s a tough life, but Sarah gets by. She and her ex-husband, fellow detective Adam Boyd, adore their 15-month-old daughter Molly. Until Sarah’s world falls apart when she receives a devastating threat: Her daughter has been taken, and the abductor plans to raise Molly as their own, as punishment for something Sarah did.
A very good read. I liked the story and the characters. I felt for sarah. 4*.

This is a 5 star action packed thriller which held my attention to the last page. There were many twists and turns in the hunt to find 15 month old, kidnapped, baby Molly. She is the daughter of two serving policemen, Sarah and Adam. They have recently separated. The kidnapper has been sending texts, videos and pictures of Molly but the police search is coming up empty. Sarah and Adam decide to find Molly themselves! Read on!

Overall, I liked this book. The main character is interesting and was a good choice to lead a book like this, where there is so much at stake. Strong, intelligent female leads are nice to see in books like this. There were a few times when I wondered if a police officer, even a mother desperate to find her child would behave the way the main character did in this book--but it was mostly easy to ignore those times because the story was so compelling.

I like the way the relationship between the parents was portrayed. You could see that they still cared for one another and respected each other, but also see the struggle they faced getting along with one another in the face of such a tragedy. This book has a lot of action in it and keeps the story moving right along. I read this mostly in one sitting and am looking forward to exploring further books from this author.

This review is based on a complimentary copy from the publisher, provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Really enjoyed this one. I think because the parents are police officers who have to deal with their baby daughter going missing. I feel it was very well written from that point of view. You could almost feel their pain and disbelief especially knowing what happens to other children and now realising what their parents go through. A good book with a few twists.

I have just discovered this author so this is the first book I have read of hers. It is a very fast paced intense thriller which hooked me right from the first page. The main character Sarah is very likeable and you just wish you could help her in some way. I couldn’t wait to find out the ending and it didn’t disappoint. I would definitely recommend this book and will be looking to read more by this author.

I am a huge fan of Jaime Raven books, they drag you into the storyline and leaving is very hard.

Sarah and Adam are regular characters in Jaime's books and their daughter, Molly, is kidnapped whilst in the care of her grandmother. Both Sarah and Adam are police officers, were married and have both dealt with the lowest of the low when it comes to criminals. The book has both Adam and Sarah questioning their arrests, work they did, did they slip up somewhere. The whole time cryptic messages are text to Sarah about her daughter and her well-being, some of it incredibly disturbing and creepy.

As we run at a pace through the book, we are given the chance to look at both Sarah and Adam and debate which one we think is the problem, the cause of this abduction, but the answer isn't quite what I was expecting!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It evoked a lot of emotion and it's not a straightforward case. DCI Dave Brennan is faced with a highly unusual case which involves one of his team of detectives. Sarah Mason is a single mother/detective rearing 15 month old Molly after the estrangement between the parents. Molly is snatched. Adam is informed and supports Sarah. The dormant fingers of corrosive hate set the torturous drama into motion. It's a hand-on-heart and gasp kind of plot. There are lots of dead-ends and brick walls. The perp has them running round in circles. For years I've had serious doubts about the wisdom of appealing to the perp on TV for the return of the child. It puts the parents under duress and nothing ever comes of it. It might be argued that the notoriety gives the perp great satisfaction. The perp is hardly going to give himself up and happily be escorted to jail. Also the amount of information supplied to the media could back-fire. The perp could panic and kill the child or abandon it to die a dreadful death of starvation. After all, these villains are often mentally ill yet put back into society at a later stage ostensibly cured. What cannot be ignored too is how these villains are often released after HALF their sentences elapse. That doesn't make me feel vey safe as statistics show that many villains reoffend. Lastly, I had a real soft spot for Dave Brennan who was due to retire to care for his wife before the Dementia kicked in. That is true devotion and touched me greatly. I shall post this on Facebook, GoodReads, Amazon and my blog. Thank you for letting me read it.

This was the first book I have read by Jamie Raven and I really enjoyed it! Right from the opening chapter the story was a non-stop, intense rollercoaster ride that was hard to get off! The author developed such likeable characters, Sarah was the mother of the child that had been taken, I often find with novels similar to this the mother of a missing child usually turns into a complete nutter and starts to grate on me but I absolutely loved this main character!! I was so pleased that literally nothing about her annoyed me, she remained sane throughout the whole nightmare, not getting in the way of the investigation but helping wherever she thought necessary. I did feel like she could have done so much better than Adam, he was a bit of an arse, to be fair to him he was always there to support Sarah but I felt like he was worming his way back into her! I can’t hit the nail on the head on exactly why I didn’t like him but the further the story went on he just gave me more reasons to dislike him! Sarah was doing such a good job as a single mom, she didn’t need him!
I loved how the case all pieced together once the investigation team had the breakthrough on who they believed was holding Molly! The pace really quickened after this point and it was just one twist and turn after another! The book was just so full of energy and I couldn’t fault Brennan and his team investigating the abduction at all, they worked their butts off to get to the bottom of what had happened and return Molly back to her mother.
The only thing I would say is that it would have been nice to have had Sarah’s parents more involved in the book, they were such a huge part at the beginning and then they were kind of just left in the background!
I particularly loved how well I was able to visualise the story in my mind as I read it, I feel like I’ve just left the cinema and watched The Mother movie! I think it’s excellent when an author is able to do that for a reader. I don’t quite know what I was expecting from the ending but it was a complete shock that I did not see coming!! I thought I’d weighted the characters up well so discovering the identity of the kidnapper was a blow!
I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to read more by Jamie Raven and I would recommend The Mother to all detective novel lovers!!

I have always enjoyed the previous books by Jaime Raven and I think this was the best one yet. A very intense plot involving the kidnapping of a 15 month girl whose parents are both police officers. The pace moves quickly as a series of photos and texts are sent to Sarah, the distraught mum. The book is well written and I loved the character of Sarah. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads.

This is the first book i have read from Jamie Raven and i have to say i enjoyed it.The Mother is based around two police officers Sarah Mason and her ex husband Adam Boyd whose daughter Molly has been abducted and the person who has done it is taunting them with texts and video's of Molly in various states of distress. What follows is an excellent race against time thriller as Sarah and Adam search out who is responsible for the abduction as Sarah's boss DCI Brennan is determined to crack the case before he retires. When it transpires that Adam is in some part to blame for the situation he becomes a loose cannon trying to sort things out on his own which causes friction between him and Sarah. An excellent thriller and a solid 4 star read which i can recommend .

A very intense, non-stop thriller in which a young girl,15 months, is kidnapped from the grandmother who was babysitting. To make matters worse, both the mother and father are police officers, who have worked in kidnapping cases so know all the horrible things that can happen! This story grips you immediately as you come to know Adam, the dad and Sarah the mom. We are with them as they try to figure out if any people they put in jail could be behind this awful crime. When a text and photo arrive our hearts jump, the person wants to cause Sarah intense pain and promises to hurt the child if any of his photos are put to the public. Of course one photo is revealed and as punishment a message is released showing the naked baby being held upside down by a leg while being slapped on the buttocks continually... Holding your breath yet? The author does a great job moving quickly through whats happening, even as we learn things from the past that have consequences now.
I received this book from Netgalley, the author Jaime Raven, and publisher Avon from which I make my notes and therefore thank very much.

I couldn't wait to get started with this. I was so looking forward to reading it after enjoying The Madam and The Alibi,
The book starts off fantastically and really had me gripped, Introduced to South London detective Sarah Mason. Sarah is a single mother to 15 month old Molly she's working a tough job and she just about seems to scrape through with the help of childcare from her parents.
Sarah's life is torn apart when she received a message, her daughter has been kidnapped. Sarah is frantic and doesn't know what the hell she is supposed to do. Forced to step back and let her work colleagues investigate, her life is in turmoil.
Sarah needs to know why, who and how. What has she done wrong, and just who is it that as taken her daughter?
What follows is then an emotional roller coaster of a ride, How far would you go to save your child. Follow Sarah and her ex husband Adam on there nail biting journey.
It's a tense read, and very easy to follow and very easy to get lost inside the pages. Written in chapters for each person, Sarah, Adam and DCI Brennan, it was great following each one, and seeing things from different points of view.
I don't feel I've given to much away here as this all happens in the opening pages, we then follow on to find out how Sarah, her husband the team cope with the case and little Molly's abduction.
This was a very interesting read, gripping in parts had me needing to turn the pages as quick as I could as soon as I started it. I read this over a weekend, luckily I didn't have anything planned so I wasn't letting anyone down when I refused to move until I'd read it all. This book really did drag me in.
