This was just the cutest, most precious book I've read in a while.

Don't get me wrong, Crazy Little Thing Called Love isn't anything life-altering, and it sure isn't a book I'd go out of my way to recommend to others. But, it's super light-hearted and fun. It's exactly what I needed this past week while on vacation to the lake with my husband.

I loved all the main characters--I genuinely cared for their happiness and wanted a good ending for them. The storyline was also cute and different, but after talking to a few people about this book I've heard it's similar to 40 Days and 40 Nights, but I haven't seen it.

I give it a good, solid three stars--it was a fun escape.

3.5 stars

I would like to thank netgalley and HarperCollins UK for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This was well written and I loved Leila and Nick's relationship. The book did take a while to get going and morph from a romance to a sort of family/romance novel.

There are what seem to be random changes in pov dotted around the book. It becomes obvious towards the end why these different pov's are needed. It would have been better if the different pov's were added from the start and in an more orderly way.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love really was a let down. It was an easy read, entertaining in the least. However, there were things that definitely had me rolling my eyes. First off, the author really downplayed so many scenes that could've made this book. It jumped right past things I really would've liked to see written out. When Leila and Nick first meet, it jumps to a few months later to the day of their next meeting. When Leila and Nick had that big fight towards the end of the book, it skipped to after they already made up. We didn't get to see them making up, talking it out, explaining themselves. Anything. One minute they can't stand each other, then the next they're magically together and happy again. The skipping around just really annoyed me.

I really thought the romance was cute, and I really enjoyed reading about them. As cliche as it was, it's easy to read when you're in a book slump. I just wish it didn't skip over all the important turning points in their relationship.

Leila has the worst luck with relationships -- she's been cheated on, lied to, taken advantage of, and had plenty of first dates that would make anyone run for the monastery. So it's not much of a surprise when she announces to her family and friends that she's taking a year of celibacy, coined her "man-ban". They laugh good-naturedly and remind her that she has a terrible time following through on things, which only seems to strengthen her resolve. She even starts a blog about her relationship woes and her quest in finding herself, which leads to thousands of followers and a new side-hustle in hosting female empowerment seminars at her parents' Dartmouth resort. All is going well until she finally meets her soulmate, Nick -- who also just happens to be her new sister-in-law's brother. Sparks fly, chemistry ignites, and they can't seem to forget one another even though Leila clearly explains her predicament. What ensues is a secret affair that neither can wait to share with the world, if only the world would cooperate. When a family scandal breaks, it threatens to tear this secret relationship apart.

Thoughts: Leila and Nick are adorable and have great chemistry together, and it honestly surprised me that their respective families didn't notice it sooner. They are also very likable characters and would do anything for their families. The secondary characters are also likable, with the exception being Nick's sister, Lucy, Leila's new sister-in-law. But once you get to know her and her motives, she ends up being a bit more human. That said, while I enjoyed the story, there were aspects that kept me from giving it the coveted five stars. One, there is very little character development in Leila, which is surprising because the whole point of her taking a year-long "man ban" is to find herself. Instead, she finds a secret boyfriend. She does land a pretty awesome career booster, but she never would have gotten the pitch opportunity without connections with said secret boyfriend. There was more character development with the secondary characters, her's and Nick's family members, than Leila. That was a bit disappointing. Also disappointing was the fact that, (view spoiler) Readers were cheated on that one. Other than that, I really enjoyed the plot, especially all of the family drama, and how everything tied together. I would recommend this as a fun beach read.

A cute read!

This was a cute read. I found the differing points of views confusing at times, causing me to have re-read parts and to go back to previous sections to try to understand what was happening. Overall, this was a cute rom-com.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.

This is a fun read with some crazy laugh out loud moments.
Leila and her family each had such a fun and interesting backstory and it was fun to explore that.
Leila is fun and bubbly and kind of crazy but in a fun way.
It is for sure a chick lit book.
It had great woman power and major girl power.

This would be a great, beach read.

I'm not usually a massive enthusiast of women's literature but this story was great! Both fun and flirty, this romantic comedy was difficult to put down.

DNF.

I really tried to read this book, but I couldn't get into the story. The characters and story are very predictable. I might try rereading it one day, who knows?

Wonderful contemporary romance about finding yourself and finding love by swearing off men for a year.

Leila’s family is like a soap opera on steroids. Tasha having the most shocking husband character involved. How two families got entangled more than they cared to really just the surface portion of this novel.

Nick is the opposite of his sister Lucy in many ways. He is patient and laid back. However he wasn’t expecting what he found at the wedding. And it wasn’t expecting him.

This story is crazy and love is the in the midst of it all! This story is.not predictable and is full of wonderful humor and twists! Five 🌟 indeed!

I liked the idea of this book, but it took awhile for me to be involved with the story. The main reason was that I didn't always believe in parts of the storyline.Despite this, three quarters into the story, it came alive, and I started to believe in the characters and wanted them to find their happy endings. So on balance, this was an enjoyable read with believable characters but a less credible plot.
I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Leyla is unlucky in love. While hoping to surprise her current boyfriend, she travels to Mumbai where he is supposed to be for work. To her surprise he is not there, so Leyla travels again and finds him at a different hotel. too bad he wasn't alone. There was a very naked woman in his room. Leyla was shocked and hurt and vowed to give up men sex for an entire year, because well men were pigs anyway. She was better off alone.
Unfortunately for Leyla, her friend's brother, Nick, is making staying celibate very hard to do. One thing leads to another and well...you know how this story goes.
I have to say, I had a great time reading this story. Leyla like every woman who has been cheated on, start thinking of men in a not so glorious light. Who needs them anyway, right? I love that she wanted tot ake a year off, but we all know how that works out. We have all vowed at one time or another - no more men in the forseeable future! That only lasts for so long though and before you know it Mr McDreamy is right around the corner and we wonder why we even made a vow in the first place.
If you love Rom-Com like I do, pick up a copy of Crazy Little Thing Called Love and laugh along like I did. You don;t want to miss out on all the fun!
