Interesting concept for a story. I have not read book one, but I'm certainly can't wait for book three to come out!

The flight of the feathered serpent is book 3 of a book series written by Dana Alexander called the three keys book. This book was a good book to begin with. What attracted it to me was the fact that the cover art was very attractive. It had the fantastical elements right there on the cover. The premise also looked quite attractive. The story is a sort of a quest of the " feathered serpent ". As the book advances, a lot of potholes and faulty lines come through. My expectations while going into the book were not met. The main protagonist is Sara who is " The light carrier " - a warrior in this quest. She is supposed to be the " saviour".
Overall the book was good for a one time read. It was thrilling in certain parts but some parts left a lot unsaid. There were some repetitions and a lot of beating around the bush. Things didn't seem really tied up and there was nothing to keep you at the edge of your seat. It definitely ended in a cliffhanger and left off wanting to know what happens next.
To summarize briefly; Sara is on a quest to obtain 3 keys. Once she obtains them; she can save humanity from destruction. Apparently, humanity is under the power of a dark lord. There is an oppositional Alliance higher group who have appointed Sara to obtain the " keys". There is a love interest here as well as shades of treachery and betrayal. Sara is the head of a team who in turn protect her. In this particular Book, the first key has been obtained and the quest is on for the second key. As Sara obtains the second key; the book ends with an unexpected end and Sara meets an old friend / enemy.
There are a lot of magical elements, power play and fantasy themes all throughout. There is an encounter with the " mythical" serpent which windows its powers on Sara. I looked forward to the serpent featuring prominently in this book but there were only one or two instances. The language and flow of the book was good. However the overall plot felt weak and predictable. The characters needed more development and seemed incomplete. But I think I need to state that these problems were acceptable as I'm reading one of the books in between the series instead of reading the part 1 of the book.
Therefore I gave a rating of 3/5 stars for this book.

In this third book Sara Forrester must travel to the Yucatan to get the second key.

The love story between Sara and Kevin continues to be at the forefront although it's suppossed to be on the back burner since Sara has to concentrate on acquiring the keys.

I would have wanted to give this book 5 stars, but couldn't; there were just too many instances where I would have preferred less "tell" and I was often confused about where to draw the line between thoughts the other(s) could read and thoughts that just happened in Sara's mind.
