This is a very sad tale of what happened to a lady and family. Domestic abuse is a very taboo subject that needs more airing and stopping. Sadly there are many ways of abuse, emotional, verbal, sexual and physical. Sometimes it is hidden from others and many don't like to believe as this book shows. A very sad story of truth, well done to the author for writing about it.

If you have ever wondered why someone stays in an abusive relationship then this book is one to read. It gives an insight into exactly that. This book can stir up many emotions.
The one thing I did have trouble with was the way it was written. It was quite jumpy and more memoir than story. Just my opinion.

This was a hard read for me but I got through it. It was so close to my first marriage. I advise others to beware.

This book covered some pertinent issues to intimate partner violence, often missed in mainstream literature. I hope readers make use of her insights, especially regarding victim blaming.

Having a friend in an abusive relationship, I often wondered "WHY"? Why does she stay? Why won't she leave? This book answered those questions for me. I never looked at it the way that things were presented in this book. It was an eye-opener. At times, it made me mad, angry, etc, but I kept on reading, but I must admit it was not due to the writing, but the situations. That question popped up again, "WHY"? To the author, thank you. Thank you for giving me a way to look at domestic abuse in another way. No, I still do not feel it is right, but I can look at things a bit differently now and understand the WHY question better than before. I commend the author for sharing that part of her life with us, the book reader. Blessings to you and continued success. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this great book in return for my honest review.
