A great book for specialist and non-specialists of social media with great tips and strategies for social media management.

Frances Cabello outlines in 140 pages the details on setting a profile, develop a healthy network and gain a digital presence in order to promote books. As she uses different authors, strategies and tools to compare and recommend different possibilities, Cabello takes her readers on a simple, comprehensive journey through the best social media skills needed to have literary digital success.

The style of writing is simple, fluid and easy to follow. Together with the great organisation of the topics, Cabello created the perfect guide to navigate through social media.

The digital channels outlined in the book are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, blogs and offline marketing. All the instructions are presented with screenshots and tips that are easy to understand. The level of knowledge develops through the chapters, going from creating profiles on the digital channels to which types of post are more effective and analysis of posts, followers and types of audience. Additionally, the author chooses dedication in pointing out add-ins, programs that give a boost to the reader’s knowledge.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for new strategies and simple tricks to boost their digital traffic and for writers looking for tips on how to sell their books more efficiently.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher ACT Communications and the author for allowing me to read and review a digital copy of this book.

I can see me coming back to this when (!) I have a book to promote. I'm perhaps just a little too early in the process to take too much from this guide now, although I can see that there is a ton of useful advice. I think a lot of the 'don't do this' elements are even more useful: over-promoting yourself, retweeting compliments, etc etc. Definitely liked that there was a section for each of the big social media platforms, so you could pick one to really focus on, or venture into something new with a guiding hand.

So many of these ebooks are just fluff, but Frances Caballo really puts some useful tips in her book.
The fact that it's (currently) just 99 cents is a bargain and makes it easily 5 stars.
For beginners, it's invaluable.
I'm an expert, but I still appreciated her tips. Sometimes I got annoyed by how basic she got, but I skimmed those sections.
There's a lot of content for the money.

This book is a very useful tool for writers looking to extend and reach their audiences. It has systematic detailed information about how to set up accounts and create a professional online profile and author branding. Recommended to anyone curious about why social media is still such a big thing for everyone, particularly for writers.

While I personally was overwhelmed by the amount of self-publicity this book encompasses, I have to admit that my favorite authors, particularly YA authors, do use various social media platforms successfully and that ability--and their interactions with fans through these sites--certainly works in their favor.

If you are an author and self publishing or working your way up to the best selling author - I suggest you must try ideas from this book. It can also be useful for an agent or even publisher. I read it for curiosity and something i might want to try myself in near future. Loved this book.

A useful book though much is common knowledge. This is great for those unfamiliar with social media but maybe not as useful for the already social media savvy.

For me, I felt as if this book was too basic in terms of developing and using social media. How to set up social media profiles is likely needed by some; however, this was not marketed as a "use this in the beginning" or "this should be a step one" book. It was Social Media for writers. As a writer for over three years and active social media user, I felt as if it missed the mark for me. I would recommend it to those just starting out and needing to start at step one.

I would not limit this book to the audience of only writers, it's a great resource for anyone that wants to take full advantage of the online platforms available. Social media is constantly evolving, this 2017 updated reference piece is extremely valuable and includes the major social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Goodreads, Pinterest, and Instagram are prominently featured. Ms. Caballo writes in an easy, conversational style, and the advice contained in this book is clear and easy to apply. It's a great reference piece to have in your toolkit!

Although I'm not a writer, I am someone in the midst of starting a new small business so I was interested in this book which helps writers of all kinds better utilize and manage social media. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book was a really good overview of the various social media platforms and offered very concrete and interesting advice and tutorials. I came away with a number of things that were new to me, particularly around the options that I don't use as actively as others. There is great advice, tips and tricks as well as specific tutorials all packed into this book! It covers managing Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Goodreads and more! It'd definitely a beginner's guide to social media and it packs a punch! If you're already actively using these platforms to help manage your business or career, some of it may be repetitive. But, if this is a whole new world to you, this is a fantastic resource full of great information!

Though this book is called Social Media Just for Writers, it is not just for writers. This book has incredible information that anyone who wants to use social media to promote their product or business should read this book. Some information is common sense, but most of it, I had never thought of. The Author Frances Caballo also has a website that has current marketing trends and tips that is updated often.

Social Media Just for Writers is a beginner's book for those who are wanting to know more about social media. It's just the basics. There was very little for one who has been using social media for so many years now.

However, it didn't hurt to just have a look at some of the information. We tend to forget details, as they overwhelm us. So, it was good to have a look at them. There were some bits that we didn't know about.

Social Media Just for Writers is better geared for authors, rather than bloggers or other content creators. Here again, this doesn't mean that it's useless. It's not. For example, there was a mention of the slight importance of joining a writer's community (via Triberr).

We've joined Triberr. But, we still haven't figured out how to dig in there and really use it to our betterment. Joining and taking part in such communities involves a lot of details. You need to know the norms and nuances, so that you don't tick someone off and ruin any good thing that you could of had.

The bases are covered. One should not assume that one knows it all. One should have a look for themselves. Just sayin'.
