Dear Publisher, Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book . At the present moment, I am unable to finish it, because it isn’t holding my interest. If I complete it at any time in the future, I will follow up with an email. I look forward to hearing about your future titles. Thanks again. Regards, Blogger

Absolutely loved the idea behind this story but the actual execution didn't quite live up to my standards simply because it was a little slow in places which lead me to lose interest and thus took a lot longer to finish than I had expected.

I could not get into this one.. The concept was interesting, if not a bit overused.. but I did not really felel for the writing and could not get into the MC.. So no I didn't finish it and did not like it very much.

This book takes place in the same universe as Apprentice, which followed the a Librarian apprentice through four years of school. I liked this one better, mainly because the plot was more engaging. There were still pacing issues, in which the middle part of the book felt an awful lot like filler.

Still, the world-building was fantastic, the plot (once it got moving again) was interesting. The main character seemed a bit flat, and was more of a plot device than a character with her own personality, but given that she is a secondary (tertiary?) book character, I can see that.

Other than the pacing issues, my main complaint was that I did not like when Harper was disappeared, as she was the most interesting and engaging character up to that point, and I nearly did not finish the book at that point. Introducing a character only to use them as an emotional plot device a short while later is a cheap move and one I really don't like in my books.

Interesting read. I might continue on in the series in the future, but I'm not dying to do so.

After the fist book in the series, I really wasn't too gung-ho about the second. And I was right. Again, I don't believe the author's story was bad. The main character wasn't overly flawed or stupid, but I don't think the author's writing style works for me. It's more about getting the general plot out there instead of really taking the time to develop it. For this reason, I DNFed 1/3rd of the way through.

That being said, if you enjoyed the first book, chances are you'll like the second.

I'll be honest the premise here was very intriguing. Where DO book characters go when they're story is "done"? This is why fanfic exists people.

The execution for this was the main problem. As soon as the plot gained any sort of momentum it took a left turn and lost me with new things. It would return to an idea...then take a sharp right.

I spent so much time backtracking it felt twice as long as it was. In the end I'm not sure I can recommend this since it requires a higher level of patience before the premise bears fruit.

I received this book from netgalley.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book, it was such an interesting concept and though it took a little getting into; I really liked it.

I feel like more could have been done with it though, it was particularly fun to think of different ways the author could have had some fun with the concept. For instance, are there famous book characters there? Like Romeo and Juliet? I mean, it would've been great if that had been a main character! So yes, an interesting concept, but I feel like it was quite a serious book and more humour/fun could have taken place which I like in a book.

The book was well written and the characters showed depth, which is ironic considering how little about themselves they really know.

I read the first teaser chapter at the end of the book but it didn't grab my attention in the same way - probably because I was hoping for more on the same characters.

Overall, an interesting world complete with an interesting plot. Not too much comic relief but definitely a good read.

I enjoyed this book, I thought it was a fresh and really exciting idea, I was left a bit disappointed though because I felt like there was so much room for world building endless potential yet it was the same scenes being at the library archive for too long. Though with the next book I'm willing to check out if it expands more into the world. it just seemed so cool at the start with magic and different styles of buildings all beside each other like a mismatched story world. I just want more of that. So will probably check out the second book and see how that goes.
