Its fun to have the inside scoop on stuff that is really interesting. I have always been fascinated by flight and the combination of pilots and thrillers is great.
Standard rich guy bad men, innocent, yet clever victims who save the day in the end are fun characters.
Using the pilots. planes and airlines themselves as pawn in international intrigue probably happens more than we would want to know, this is a very educational read. The author is really knowledgable and this comes through throughout the story. Sometimes the stuff about flying was more interesting than the chase.

Of course, one of pilot ends up being the true brains of the complicated investigation, something I hadn't seen before. He is a totally likable guy, so it was fine to see him migrate to that role. I suspect there are all sorts of cover ups and cynical manipulations in the airlines now, so we need to make Hart Liddy loose.

Kudos to Les Abend for a great first book! Early in the book a body is found in a boat, a passenger plane has an emergency landing in Bermuda with two fatalities, the airline pilot's two daughters are kidnapped, and this is just the beginning. This was fast-paced and kept my interest throughout as the plot unfolded turning over new mysteries one after the other. It took local law enforcement, the NTSB, and the FBI to connect the dots and get to the root of the various occurrences and find the truth. Not sure of the legality, but the ending was satisfying to me.

Many thanks to WildBlue Press through NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
