Meredith is made to believe that she could be the reincarnation of Cara, who supposedly died 30 years ago!
She must dive deep into the past to know what happened to her mom Becca and the connection that might exist between them.
Multiple twists throughout the book kept me engaged, thanks to netgalley, bookouture and the author Jess Ryder for approving the ARC in exchange for unbiased review.

This was more of a ride in the mind of characters than an actual thriller, but overall, a good debut. I will definitely read more by Jess Ryder. I love how the story unfolded. I still talk about this one.

I didn't really enjoy this book too much. The writing was amateurish with pages and pages of fluff not needed for the plot. The story was slow and boring and none of the characters were likable. I thought the ending was stupid and extremely unrealistic.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Jess Ryder for a copy of "Lie to Me" in exchange of an honest review.

I thought this book was interesting, and it had a good pace, but the ending was so abrupt! It drives me crazy when authors do that. Overall a decent book until the ending.

LIE TO ME was not the one for me. I did not find the premise at all believable and it ended abruptly, with no real resolution. I hate that.

Lie to Me tells the story of Meredith, a young woman, who discovers a mysterious videotape of her and her mother (now missing) from when she was a young child. The video shows disturbing behavior from her mother who had been plagued with mental health issues. Based on what Meredith sees in the video, she starts investigating a murder from years ago attempting to figure out how her mothers past is connected to the crime.

This one definitely kept me guessing which is the best part of a mystery. I also loved how it each chapter was told from a different characters point of view and the interwoven time periods.

This was a mystery about Meredith, a woman who is curious about her mother’s disappearance and how it connects to a videotape she finds that has clues to an old murder case.

I found the story interesting but kind of bland. Nothing exciting really happened. There was one twist that I didn’t see coming but the other ones were pretty predictable. The story jumps back and forth between the present and the past, before the murder takes place. I liked that but you never actually get to witness the murder take place, which is a missed opportunity.

All in all, I’d still recommend this book to anyone interested in a mystery because it still has its moments.

I didn't intend to review this book after reading it awhile ago, because I've never believed in writing a bad review for something that was generously given to me without me having to pay for it. But I don't know how to ask Net Galley what they prefer. Checking other reviews and seeing that I'm not alone in my feelings, I'm posting this, anyway. The story didn't captivate me, nor did the writing. I usually am reading three different books at a time, and the others were so much more interesting that I'd have a hard time returning to this one. The cliff-hanger at the end didn't help me like it more, either.

LIE TO ME is a debut psychological thriller by author Jess Ryder, a story of lies, secrets and betrayal.

overall an okay read. This book for me started with a hiss and a roar and I was quite excited to read it, I did find some of the situations Meredith found herself in unconvincing and I found myself eye rolling at parts. There were definitley twists scattered througout but not enough to keep the momentum that the book started with going.

This was British author, Jess Ryder's first novel. Meredith ends up watching a short home video of her schizophrenic mother, Becca, who she hasn't seen in years. This video ends up changing her entire life.

This was a very good read, hard to put down. An excellent thriller novel. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book Jess Ryder comes up with!

I would recommend this book!

This is a steadily paced thriller that's more about family secrets than any twists or turns people keep expecting these days in a read. The past and present views from Meri and Cara was a little confusing at first because I just couldn't see the connection... and then it all came together!

A gripping read that is more character based than crime based... and done well in that department. Digging into the deep recesses of the mind and how while we all have secrets... some of them come to the surface and make a huge and dark impact on everyone around you.

Definitely looking forward to more from this author.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this entertaining debut read by Ms Ryder.
Meredith comes across an old VHS tape, and her father's reaction to her discovery piqued her interest (as it would mind). On the tape her mother mentions a friend, and a possible murder. Obviously Meredith can't let it be, and becomes very involved in finding out the truth. Very very good read! Recommended.

This book was just Okay for me. I didn't feel overly engaged in it.

While Meredith is helping her Dad to clear out his attic she discovers a box of her old baby things but more intriguingly a VHS tape with her name on it , despite her Dad going totally off the deep end and asking her to throw it on the fire she of course watches it , on it her mother missing for 30 years and a young Meredith . From this moment I was intrigued and couldn't put this down , I raced through looking for the answers . How is Meredith somehow linked to a 30 year old murder , where s her mother . I liked how the story played out and how it was told from the 3 points of view , Meredith , Cara and Jay this was all done very seamlessly and the story flowed well . A brilliant debut and I will look forward to the next . Thank you for the opportunity to read this.
