This book was a quick read but it was fun. It was great to see how these decades old relationships played out and how the three main characters changed since their college days. I enjoyed it

Murnane always writes relatable, engaging characters. This book is no exception. As always, I'm eager for more from Murnane.

It has been a year since the three friends were on vacation in the Caribbean. Daphne has taken time off to try and publish her first book based on their adventures but seems to be in the rejection rut. Skylar calls her up and invites her and KC to come to New York to celebrate her engagement. Besides being surprised, Daphne wants to be there for her friend but can’t help thinking about how her book is failing. While in New York and after seeing how successful Skylar is Daphne starts thinking that her life could have been better if she had made different choices. But not everything is great for these three women. They all have their burdens and this weekend is going to be about so much more than just an engagement.

After having read Wait for the Rain I was excited to see what the three women had gotten themselves into. Each has found their own happiness and has their own issues but when Skylar shares her engagement the other two are very happy for her. But once Daphne sees how successful Skylar is jealousy rears its angry head. Each woman has their own problems that are going to come to the surface this weekend. But they are all strong and there for each other. Together they can overcome whatever difficulties they are facing.

This is a great story and I love all the emotions you will go through reading it. I can related to Daphne feeling like a failure then being jealous of Skylar. Not one of her finest moments but the pain had to come out before they could help her heal. But that goes for all three women. I have to say I think Sloane stole the show with her dating stories. If it could go wrong in dating I swear it would for her.

This is a follow up book from Wait for the Rain but it could be read as a standalone book. If you like the drama and the strength behind a great group of friends you will like this book.

I received Bridges from the author for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

Bridges - A Daphne White Novel is a delightful story of three women in their early forties who have been best friends since college. The story takes place over four or five days in New York as they come together to celebrate the engagement of Skylar.

While Skylar has obviously done very well, she is also kind and generous and wants to give her two friends a great time. And they do, and while they travel around New York, letting us in on some of the great aspects of this city, they renew their friendship and deepen it.

This is an excellent exploration of the friendship of women at its best. They are there for one another, genuinely care for one another, and sometimes... get it wrong. One aspect that I really loved was the feelings that arose especially for Daphne, when she compared herself to Skylar and found herself wanting and filled with self doubt. What she does with that self doubt was so real, and what many of us most likely do. What struck me though was the honest communication between them that ensured that the friendship would endure.

All three women are likeable yet I probably liked Daphne the most and that may be due to the fact it is more from Daphne's point of view. I felt she was so genuine and learned so much about herself and the need to persevere and not give up hope in her desire to have a novel published. However I was thrilled for K.C. and her news and really Skylar was wonderful too and I loved how she reaches out to her soon to be step daughter Sloane. That relationship pointed out that we can never judge what is going on for a person, unless of course they tell us!

This was my first Maria Murnane book. I did not read the first book in the series but also did not feel as if I missed out on something. This book reads well as a stand alone. This is a story about the friendship between three best friends and how they support each other. I loved reading about Skylar, Daphne and KC and wished I had best friends like these. A longstanding friendship like this is something special to be treasured, I loved Maria's writing style and her description of the High Line made me go and look it up on Google. I did not know that this even existed.

This is a great book if you want to relax and enjoy a fantasy trip to New York.
Thank you to Amazon Publishing via Netgalley for the copy.

Maria is another author whom I love for my women's fiction fix. Her writing is so poetic and witty, I will always read her books.

I had been waiting a long time for Maria to publish a new book. It had been so long, I was afraid she stopped writing. But alas, she wasn't done quite yet.

If you have read Wait for the Rain, then you already will know who Daphne and the gang are. If you haven't make sure to put it on your TBR because you are missing out! The relationship between these women is everlasting, real and fun. I enjoyed following this life-long group of women during Skylar's bachelorette weekend.

Yet again, Maria has written a beautiful and whimsical story that I didn't want to end.

Bridges was a wonderful story about three women, friends since their college days, who reunited for a weekend in NYC. Since I live in NYC, the setting was especially appealing to me. As Skylar took her friends to many tourists locations, I felt like I was right there along with them. As a New Yorker, I can understand why Skylar would not want to take the trains. However, as tourists, Daphne and KC wanted to experience the realness of NY travel. This was just one example of how the author made the storytelling realistic to the reader, aside from the expensiveness of their Manhattan adventures.
The conflicts throughout the story were true to life, and the author did a wonderful job resolving them through witty and emotional dialogue. The secondary characters, Krissa and Sloane, also made this story relatable especially with their dating horror stories and college social problems, respectively.
This was a great book with many laugh out loud moments!

Bridges: A Daphne White Novel by Maria Murnane is a story of old friends coming together, but also a story of how we all change as life goes along. Daphne and K.C. travel to NYC to celebrate the engagement of their college friend Skyler. The three women are now fortyish and at a time of change in their lives. Not only is career woman Skyler getting married, exercise fanatic K.C. Is expecting her first child and Daphne's daughter is looking at colleges while Daphne seeks to find fulfillment as an author. Change can be good seems to be the theme and it is one I can appreciate, as I too am trying new things.

Very light and easy to read book about the friendship between three women. This book made me think of the sister-ship I have with my close friends and I could see ourselves in some of the situations the author portrayed in this book. It is a look at how we hold things in from our friends, when if we shared them, the road would be much easier. This is my first time reading this author, but I will definitely be reading more. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest revivew.

Let me start this review with an apology to the author. I read this book days before the actual release so I could a review out and then life happened and now here we are, 4 days post release day with no review. Maria Murnane is an awesome woman who I have had the pleasure of talking with through a series of emails and I feel terrible that it has taken me this long to get to the review. But better late than never I say. On to the review!

Bridges takes place about a year after we leave Daphne and her friends in Wait for Rain. I was glad to catch up with these women because I wanted to know more. I finished Bridges feeling the same way. I was disappointed in Daphne's progress or I should say lack of progress and hope to see another book with her kicking ass like I know she wants to.

I liked seeing a different side of Skylar and the twist with KC was fun. This book reminded me of my long ago desire to live in NYC for a year and I now need to go. I found myself jealous of the characters for being there and especially jealous because they got to go see Hamilton. (Seriously though, someone hook a sister up with some tickets).

I liked the book, I just wanted a little more happiness for Daphne and I felt like the ending was a set up for another book so come on Maria, give me the goods!!

I received this book from the author and the publisher through NetGalley.

We are blessed to see Daphne and her friends Skylar and KC reunite in NYC for a weekend of fun! Skylar has invited them all to join her but suprises them by letting them know she has just got engaged! The woman who has always sworn off commitment has finally met her match and is getting married. Daphne has followed her dreams and wrote a novel and is currently shopping it around for publication, and KC has some amazing news…she just found out she is pregnant.

The three of them are moving on to important phases in their lives and each of them are terrified as to what the futures holds in store for them. Daphne’s love life is so so she has been “dating” the age appropriate guy she met on the islands but it’s long distance and she doesn’t feel like she’s fully into it. What I loved most in this read is the growth of the characters, it shows us no matter our age we are always growing and learning throughout life. However, the friendships have always been the star of the books. I love how much they love each other and that they are always there for each other no matter what, that’s true friendship people!

Maria Murnane gives us another winner with this one. While this has the same characters as Wait for the Rain both can be read as stand alone's, but I highly encourage to read both, trust me you won't be disappointed!

Friendship is what it is all about in Bridges. Daphne, Skylar, and KC are truly the three musketeers. The bond they share lasts a lifetime. A fun new addition is Skylar's friend, Krissa. She was so entertaining; especially with her dating horror stories. She is the poster woman for online dating sites gone wrong. Yet, Krissa is a good sport. She could laugh about herself.

The three musketeers brought the laughs, and love even more in this book. The more I hang out with the three ladies, the more I want to be part of their group. In this book, I felt like I really got to know each of the women better.

Hearing Skylar's new about her engagement, I took was shock as I did not think any guy could settle Skylar down but meeting her fiancé, I understood how her did it. These books are like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants but for women. As KC would say "I LOVE THIS BOOK"! It is a must, must recommended read that will have you laughing. After you have finished this book, you will have felt like you were hanging out with your best girlfriends!

Having previously read Maria Murnane's books, (namely the Waverly Bryson series), I was anxious to read Bridges. The story centers around three college friends; Skylar, KC, and Daphne. The friends are meeting up in New York City for a bachelorette weekend for Skylar. As the story begins, it becomes obvious that the friends are in wildly different points in their life. Skylar is living the high life: rich, attractive, successful. KC is happily married, and employed in California. Daphne is a divorced single mom, underemployed in a field she never chose. However, look beyond the surface, and things are never quite as they seem.
I love the author's ability to write dialogue. It was easy to be a "fly on the wall' and imagine myself as one of the friends, listening to some good girls gossip. The plot developed quickly and effortlessly. Although the writing was not overly complex in nature, it was still a very enjoyable read, and I look forward to more books from this author.

I'm a sucker for friend books and what makes this one even better is they are all around my age with real problems. They help each other sort through them and come out being stronger because of it. I love Maria's work and this one is no different.

Bridges is the second story in the Daphne White series. This time we find Daphne on a trip to visit Skylar in New York and The Three Musketeers are together again. The three best friends have another fun adventure together, and there’s tons of love and laughter to be had along the way.

There’s more to these ladies than what appears on the surface, and they each have major changes and sources of anxiety to overcome at this point in their lives. Daphne battles the fear of not being good enough, not being the person she wanted to be or thought she would be when she began as a driven young woman. Skylar and KC both have major changes happening in their lives, situations that they never thought they would find themselves in, but ultimately they have the potential to be good changes.

Age is just a number and these gals in their early forties are prime examples to drive home that sentiment. Bridges was a wonderful second book in the series and I can’t wait to see where life takes these gals next.

Please note that I received this book from the author via NetGalley in return for a honest review.

I previously read the first book in this series, Wait for the Rain, and really enjoyed it, you can see my review here for Wait for the Rain at Goodreads. So I was happy to see that Maria Murnane had a follow up with Daphne, Skylar, and KC. The only reason why I gave this four stars and not five was that I wish that Murnane had explored going with another POV with this one like Skylar. I would have really enjoyed that. And I thought the ending with things working out for Daphne would have been better if Murnane had actually kept up with the theme of how hard it is to break into being a published writer.

In "Bridges" it's been about a year since our 3 Musketeers got together and had a vacation in the Caribbean. After the three women have a video conference call and Skylar lets them know that she is engaged and she wants to fly them to NYC in order to celebrate with her. Daphne is happy to celebrate Skylar's good news, but hoped that she would have good news of her own to share. She took a year and started to write her own novel, based on her adventures with her friends in the Caribbean as well as the relationship she found after her divorce. Unfortunately, Daphne is getting a lot of rejection letters and is worried that maybe her dream of being a published author will never be realized. And she doesn't know if she is going to be able to fake being happy surrounded by her two friends who are the moon about different things in their lives at this point.

I have to say that once again Maria Murnane nails female friendships. I really enjoyed how she showcased them in this book and her Waverly Bryson series. A lot of the conversations and ability to read your friend when something is off reminds me of my togethers with my two best friends. I also felt for Daphne while reading this book. Feeling stuck after a divorce, and in a so-so relationship with a guy with her daughter about to go to college leaves Daphne at a crossroads. With her best friend seeming to hit pay dirt and finding the one and living the high life in New York would be a lot to take in and be happy for at the same time. What I liked most about Daphne in this one, is that she comes to a couple of different realizations about herself and also about letting go of things with regards to her daughter.

I have to say that I love Skylar the most in this group. Maybe because I am dancing towards 40 and at this point I have not met one guy who has made me even think about forever. I loved that hard nosed Skylar who had a dating rotation fell hard and fast for what appears to be a really great guy. And I got serious house envy reading about how her home was set-up. I can get why Daphne was jealous.

KC is still the uber cheerleader who loses her shine a bit in this one. No spoilers, but there's a reason.

We also get introduced to a best friend (in NYC) of Skylar's that I would love to read more about. Her dating adventures had me laughing out loud. Maybe because I have a few stories as well and I think that this fictional character has gone out with real life guys i have went out with too.

We also get some reappearances of secondary characters in this one that Daphne knows. Once again no spoilers. I will say that I was happy with how things resolved though.

The writing was really good. I have to say that it was just nice to read about a group of women being themselves with each other. You can see why these three women have been friends since college. And I am very excited to see if there will be another story starring them in the near future.

The flow was really good. This was a pretty short book for me, so I was able to finish it in under about 3 hours all together.

The setting of New York really comes alive. We have Hamilton references, discussion of the High Line in New York (it's really fun to do if you have a chance) Shake Shack which had me hungry, and just a dozen or so more references that shows that the author has been in the city and has explored these places. It really makes the book come alive. Due to this, i emailed one of my friends and now we are trying to set up a trip sometime this year to go to NYC and catch a show. Not Hamilton, I do not have Hamilton money, unlike Skylar.

The ending was great, though as I said above, I think it would have been better without the neatly wrapped ending. Not every book has to be wrapped up in a bow at the end. Or at least I prefer it when they are not.

LOVE! Love! Love! I was all set to read a few chapters before bed and an hour and a half later-it's finished! This book made me miss New York City(a city that I've had the luxury of visiting twice), Sex and the City, and my three best friends. Over the course of a weekend in NYC, three college friends, now in their 40's,come together to celebrate and support each other in life's ups and downs.

Bridges is sequel to "Wait for the Rain" but certainly can be read as a stand alone. I just loved how this book was about women supporting each other. No cattiness whatsoever!
