What a fun and sexy read! This story had some laugh out loud moments while Bane and Ruby get to know each other. The story was hot and sexy with a relationship that went from simmering to hot. I loved watching these two explore their relationship and then take things to the next level. The writing was funny and humorous and the story was good. I loved Ruby's relationship with her best friend, too. I'm excited to see Amie's story play out next. This was a good read.

This is one of the few slow burns that I really loved. I was so wrapped up in Bane and Ruby's overseas video chats and getting to know each other that everything just flowed. It all felt right, nothing felt drawn out or rushed. The sexual tension was so good and once things did heat up, it was downright explosive.

Then there was that mischievous ferret who made for tons of fun! Made me start wondering if having a ferret for a pet is legal where I live. Hmm....

This is the first romance I have read in quite a while and I really enjoyed it. All the characters were well developed and interesting. The humor and the verbal sparring back and forth between the two main characters made this a fun and exciting read. I received this ebook from NetGalley for an honest review.

DNF. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and review this book!! Unfortunately this one just did not work out for me. i found myself having a hard time getting invested in the storyline and characters, and a lot of the humor felt forced to me and it was a turn off for my reading experience. Again thank you for the chance to review!!

Very cute, but a little predictable. I felt like the main character explained over and over why she didn't want to accept $$ and help from her dad and others. It got a little old. Still, a quick and fun read with likable characters.

Bancroft “Bane” Mills was a whole different level of hotness and I’d lick the hell out of him….erm…LIKE. LIKE. I mean like the hell out of him. OK. No. I didn’t. But whatever. Moving on.
Every time I pick up a book with a ridiculously hot cover, I’m always extra nervous. Is the story going to live up to the cover? Is it going to overwhelmed by too much sex with a hot half nekkid dude on the cover. Yes, I just asked that. Quit giving me the stink eye. Even us perverts have standards. For the most part. Anyway. Moving on again.
I’m happy to report that the story was even better than the cover, and that cover is pretty freaking spectacular. It’s full of zingers, hilarious banter, slow burn romance, adorable pets, and awesome chemistry.
Did you kiss him back?”
I shrug.
“You didn’t even know who he was!”
“I was caught off guard. He’s a good kisser. And have you seen him? That man could revive a corpse with his hotness.”
“Sometimes you’re very creepy, you know that?”
Ruby is determined to make her dream of starring on broadway happen. But being a triple threat and the daughter to the man running a pharmaceutical empire hasn’t given her a boost. She walked away from everything to chase her dreams, even her father’s financial support. Everything is riding on her making the audition the next day…until a sexy, drunken and sick stranger proceeds to kiss her and sneeze on her, effectively infecting her with the flu from hell.
When Ruby realizes that the sexy stranger is none other than her best friend’s finance’s cousin, uber rich, ex Rugby superstar Bancroft Mills, she’s not exactly thrilled. But she’s also now homeless with no roles in prospect and no job, and Bane happens to have her solution in his very sexy hands; move into his apartment to take care of his pets while he’s away on a business trip. Sounds simple, right? Until their shacking up leads into an unlikely friendship with a heavy underlying of sexual chemistry that’s so thick, it’s practically suffocating. Add into the mix Tiny the tarantula and an adorable ferret, an it’s a recipe for a laugh out loud romance.
I love a good slow burn and the one here was perfection. Ruby and Bane’s relationship goes from texts to FaceTime to something much, much more…
Bancroft shirtless is a vision. Bancroft naked is damn well fucking phenomenal. “Oh God, that is huge!” I say when I finally reach the visual destination of Erectiontopia.

With just the perfect amount of steam, Shacking Up was a laugh out loud, feel good romance sure to put a goofy smile on your face and a swoon in your heart. Helena Hunting effortlessly mixes humor with undeniable chemistry and endearing characters to create one delicious story that enjoyed from cover to cover.

Shacking Up turned out to be a hilarious and pleasant surprise for me. Helena Hunting's hockey series did not work for me one bit. I found the author's brand of humor to be juvenile and annoying, so I had some reservations going into Shacking Up. This was definitely a better read for me than that series, and I actually found myself laughing out loud a couple of times.

The hero and the heroine meet in the most unusual of circumstances when he sneezes in her face, sharing his gross sick germs, leading her to failing at an audition and homeless. I know right? What a start to a love story! All is good though, because Bane, our hero, needs a pet sitter while he's away on business for ... wait for it ... his tarantula and his ferret. Who are these people? LOL! Enter Ruby! Most of Bane and Ruby's relationship develops over long-distance while Bane is away.

The witty banter between the two, the friendship they grew with each other, and all the flirting had me shipping these two - and let's not forget the crazy hot chemistry here. I'll admit when Bane does finally return from his trip, the book lost a bit of its appeal to me because I missed the two of them actually talking to each other, but the book was still fun. I liked them as a couple, and I liked them equally as individuals. Ruby was a rich man's daughter who didn't want to follow in her father's footsteps and instead wanted to a career in theater, and she works hard to achieve her dreams. Bane is also forced by his family to work in the family business, with his father controlling what he does. By the end of the book, he does find a way to stand up to his father, but still continue working for the company doing something he loves. He has the protective alpha thing going on for him, but he is always respect of his love interest, and doesn't try to act grossly possessive. I loved the inclusion of Francesca, his pet ferrett, in Shacking Up too - what a cutie! The secondary cast was pretty great too - I liked Ruby's best friend, Amy, a lot though why she is engaged to her douchebag fiance is beyond me. Good news though, she's getting her own book too, so yay!

All in all, Shacking Up was a fun book, and I had a good time reading it. It's got humor, swoons and sexy times - what more can you ask of a romantic comedy?

I was completely hooked from the moment I read Ruby and Bancroft’s scorching chance encounter. You will too once you see just how Helena Hunting depicts the remarkable sexual chemistry between these two.

Shacking Up is about a professionally trained performer named Ruby Scott who is struggling to make ends meet. Money was never an issue for her up until her very own father cut her off. About to become homeless, she and her best friend Amie come up with this elaborate plan to find short term housing.

Bancroft is a retired soccer player who is learning the ropes in the family hotel business. Having to travel overseas for a long period of time he is in a bind too and Ruby is the perfect person to solve his problems.

Their arrangement was supposed to be temporary but as it comes to an end both gravitate towards something more. At first, it was difficult to see how these two would fit but as the story progressed I realized that they had so much more in common that I originally thought.

I couldn’t have asked for a better pairing between these two – in or out of the bedroom. Helena Hunting never fails to entertain with her fun and playful stories! Shacking Up had me laughing out loud one minute and swooning the next.

Don’t hesitate… one-click this book and fall in love with this great couple.

Ruby is trying to make it on her own. She grew up in Rhode Island with a rich father who's in the pharmaceutical business, but when she tells him she's not interested in following the family business he cuts her off. Ruby moves to New York to pursue her dream in theater. Ruby is struggling to make ends meet. Ruby refuses to ask her father for help or return Rhode Island.

Ruby attends her friend Amiee's engagement party and while she's in the bathroom she's kissed by a stranger. Hey who could blame her?  Brancroft is super hot! And you can always blame it on the alcohol. Brancroft is clouded by cold meds when he realizes he's made a mistake.

Ruby is on the brink of becoming homeless Amiee comes up with a plan to help. This plan has Ruby thinking she's making a big mistake but what other choice does she have.

This is an insta love, filled with lust and sparks that really fly with these two characters!  Ruby and Bancroft's witty dialogue had me laughing so hard. The video chatting and texts were unbelievable! Some sweet and some sexy!  Brancroft is a smart sexy business with a sentive side. When they become roommates what possibly could happen?  If you're looking for a light, funny read I suggest you give this a try.

I was shacked up with Helena Hunting's latest sensation and I never want to let go!!! Seriously!!! So DRUNK on this romance, I could not devour Shacking Up fast enough! Shacking Up is laugh-out-loud, sweet, sizzling PERFECTION. Every bit of this book is ROMANCE GOLD.

Bane is ALL ALPHA, so smokin' hot and sweet!!! This melt-worthy man OWNS ME for life. Ruby is a firecracker who channels her inner Violet and made me laugh a lot! I adored her!!! The chemistry that bled with angst along with humor and heart between Bane and Ruby was PALPABLE! These two were created for each other. I loved them both so much!

The humor made me LAUGH OUT LOUD:

His now lopsided grin is making my panties reevaluate their importance in my life.

The heat fused with fire DROVE ME WILD:

"Hasn't anyone told you it's not polite to ogle?"

His gaze lifts to mine and he leans in close, voice dropping to a whisper as if he's about to tell me a secret.

"I'm not always polite."

The fireworks that go boom, so intense, IGNITED me:

His grip tightens as he tilts my head black and then his mouth is on mine."

The pent-up passion PENETRATED me all over as it made me SMOLDER and SWOON:

"You're driving me insane. I want---"

Bancroft's breath leaves him on a hard pant.

"You want what?"

"You."

His voice drops to a gravelly whisper.

"I want you."

Shacking Up is a SLOW BURN of a book that BUZZES with fire and feels. IMMENSELY INTOXICATING!!! Sprinkled with sweet sugar, rolled in sass, and oozing with steam, Shacking Up is PURE PLEASURE. I WANTED every bit of this book that is so INCREDIBLY GOOD.

Packed with humor, heat, and heart, Shacking Up is a rom-com that checks off all of the boxes, delivering one hella good time. I LOVED this love story so HARD!!! Shacking Up is UNPUTDOWNABLE and UNSTOPPABLE. I need to shack up with Bane and more of this heart-stopping sexy and sweet story NOW!!!

💋💋💋💋💋shacked up slow-burning kisses

I’ve read a couple of Helena’s books in the past and have loved them! This being no different. I love that there was still that humor that Helena is known for in this book because I was worried going in, the humor wouldn’t be there. I was wrong; because there were so many times I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Or.. wanting to throw my Kindle and burn it because Bancroft has a FREAKING TARANTULA as a PET. Nope. Just nope. I praise Ruby because if it were me, the mention of even the tiniest spider has me running in the opposite direction for my life.

I also love the male characters Helena brings to life; they are always panty dropping material and Bancroft is definitely no exception to that.

This was definitely a slow burn type of book; but I promise it was worth it in the end. Just wait for Bancroft… I mean, that’s all you need right?! No further explanation!? LOOK AT THAT COVER!!!

I was also excited to see that this will not be the only book in this world; there will be a sequel that will follow (not sure on characters yet). I cannot wait to read the sequel whenever it releases!

Wow!! This is my first read by Helena Hunting and I absolutely loved it!! Talk about slow burn- 6 weeks of it!! I thought Ruby and Bane might combust from sexual frustration! I love how Ruby and Bane's relationship budded as they got to know each other over daily chats and video calls. And, wow, talk about HOT once they finally give in to their desires!! This book had me laughing out loud all the way to the end!! You don't want miss this fun, sexy read!! I can't wait until Hooking Up comes out!!

Ruby has been cut off from her family, choosing to pursue a career in theatre rather than joining the family business. Behind on rent, she is facing eviction, hoping that her next audition will be the big break she needs to pay the bills. But when a stranger (a sick one at that) kisses her, mistaking her for someone else, she ends up sick as well and bombs the audition. Her best friend comes up with a solution; move in temporarily to a friend’s home to take care of his pets as he travels for his family business, hotels across the world. When Ruby turns up at Bancroft’s condo, she realizes that he is the one that got her sick to begin with. The relationship starts out rocky, but the sexual tension between the two is thick. Pursuing any type of relationship puts her housing situation at risk, but what if their relationship turns out to be something bigger? Better?

Shacking Up was a fun, sizzling, romcom. The characters were a lot of fun and I couldn’t help but pull for Ruby. I loved that she was a strong character and was willing to stand up for her convictions. Bancroft was definitely swoony, and the chemistry between the two was palpable. The story is told from both characters’ points of view. I was hooked from the first page and it was a fun, easy read with laugh out loud moments. I’ve read a few of this author’s books and I seem to have a love/not quite hate relationship with them, sometimes the bawdy humor is a little over the top, but I loved it in this story. It fit Ruby and Bancroft’s relationship, and fueled the banter between the two. The story was a little angsty, which led to a bit of predictability, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.

Fans of Hunting will love this as well as fans of romcoms. This is the perfect light read for the upcoming beach and pool time of summer vacation!

Ruby, the heroine, is quirky, independent, an off-off-Broadway actress who's trying to make it apart from her wealthy family, but is desperately low on cash, out of job opportunities, and a few days away from homelessness. The hero, Bancroft (aka Bane) is a handsome, rich, successful, stunningly sexy alpha male who's captivated the moment he encounters Ruby at a friend's high-society engagement party. Their meeting is sexy, but also hilarious and incredibly awkward, setting the stage for their unlikely partnership as the story moves forward.
Where there's smoke, there's fire, and there's plenty of steamy heat in Shacking Up. The chemistry between Ruby and Bane is positively off-the-charts. This is the first book of Helena Hunting's that I have read but it definitely won't be the last, that's for sure!
