I'm a huge fan of Kerry Wilkinson (mostly the YA to be fair but I have dipped in and out of the Jessica Daniels series) - this one, of all of them, was the most addictive and I read it pretty much in one huge gulp of a sitting.

I do love a good twisty thriller it has to be said, this one was both twisted and clever, with some really terrific plotting that kept things beautifully unpredictable. I am a fan of Jessica as a main protagonist, she is just the right side of conflicted, realistically drawn to keep you on her side. Both the main plot for this novel and the ongoing character arcs were hugely compelling and when I got to the end I just wanted more.

Beautifully readable, The Missing Dead manages to tug on the heartstrings and also have you on the edge of your seat. Very good. I liked it muchly.

When Cameron and Eleanor Sexton return home, they find the babysitter missing and daughter asleep in her bed. Two more murders occur and DS Jessica Daniels is looking for the link that ties them all together. At work she pushes the line as she puts herself in danger to catch the bad guy but her personal issues showed a more vulnerable side to Jessica. The plot moved along at a good rate throwing in twists and turns that kept the suspense flowing. Jessica's team, work well together and support each other in personal lives as well. The Missing Dead can be read as a stand alone but I suggest you read the series as there is continual growth of the characters and is well worth the reads.

The sixth book in the Jessica Daniels series and another fantastic edge of your seat book!! A couple return from a night out to discover their babysitter missing but their baby is safely asleep in bed. Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniels is in charge of the case and sets about solving the mystery!!
An absolutely thrilling read that will keep you turning the pages and unable to put it down. I cant wait for the next one!! Thank you Netgalley.

My first book in this series. Thought this book was more about relationships than solving the crime., However the crime portion was an interesting read alrhough ended quite abruptly..Jessica is a no nonsense detective and I liked how she and Izxy work.ed. Wished we were told why Oliver had to die ... seemed like a senseless death. Thanks net gallery for a thrilling read.

A great suspense/romance. Well written with a plot with many twists and turns. I could not put the book down. I look forward to reading more of the authors books.

Since there is a very small chance the author may glimpse this review: Kerry Wilkinson, there's a little book reviewer in America who's quite upset with you right now. How could you end a book that way? My poor heart. That simply wasn't fair, sir.

This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite series. If you haven't read any Jessica Daniel books, I highly recommend them: but start from the beginning! It's worth it. She has grown so much in the six books I've read, and in already looking forward to the next. They're filled with complex and likeable characters and great cases.

Talk about a nightmare: a couple rushes home after their babysitter doesn't answer the phone when they call to check on their sleeping daughter. The door is left open. There's a cell phone on the floor. The sitter is gone. ...But their little girl is still safely stuck in bed. Relief floods through them, but where is Oliver?

Though Oliver is still missing, a contact informs Jessica that an obituary ran in the paper a few days before he disappeared. Seems like someone may want to tease the police or his poor family after planning his murder. Before long, his body is found dumped... but not in any of the usual places. He's in a woman's bathtub. She's never met Oliver before, so why was he dumped there?

DS Daniel and her team scramble to figure out connections after there's another murder in the same fashion as the first. I have to admit that I didn't see most of the twists coming. Great addition to the series.

I have not read any of the previous books in this series, but The Missing Dead functions well as a standalone. It kept my interest, but I'm not sure if I will pursue the series.

This book was great, I love the whole series and this one didn't disappoint. I like how the characters and their relationships with each other are growing and developing. This kept me gripped right the way through the book it really was difficult to put down. A solid 5 out of 5.

This is book 6 in the Jessica Daniel series. As with all series, it can be read as a standalone book, although it would obviously make more sense to read the other books in the series first.

Cameron and Eleanor Sexton return home to find their babysitter, Oliver is missing and their baby daughter sound asleep in her bed. Jessica is put on the case of the missing teenager, but finds there’s no reason for Oliver to have disappeared. She gets a phone call from her journalist friend, Garry, who has heard about the missing boy. He informs Jessica that an anonymous caller placed an obituary in the paper under the missing boy’s name. Things get even more sinister when Oliver’s body turns up in the bathroom of an old friend of Eleanor’s. It’s Jessica’s job to find out if there is a link and if there is, what is it?

This is a great series of books, although I have to admit this is probably my least favourite of the series so far. I felt the story began well, but for it slowed up and I initially found myself getting a bit bored with it. The other books I’ve read in the series have all started with a bang and carried on throughout the book, but the bang seemed missing in this one. It then picked up again half way through the book and we were then back on track with our usual standard of story!!

There was more of Jessica’s personal life in this book than what I think there has been in all of the others. Whilst I always liked Jessica for a ‘no nonsense’ attitude I felt that at times this slipped and she became someone I couldn’t see her being. I would have imagined suspicions of Adam having an affair would have sent Jessica in with all guns blazing not retreating into her shell and ignoring the issue. Perhaps this shows how vulnerable Jessica really is and the Jessica we know and love is all just a front. Personally I prefer the gutsy Jessica, but I have a feeling in following books we are going to see a lot more of the other Jessica!

Without giving too much of the story away, this case leads Jessica into ‘club land’ where she meets some not very nice characters. The actual police story itself is great, with a very clever twist working out what was going on, who the murderer was and how it all fitted together. On a personal side, Jessica’s story is left hanging with a cliff-hanger, so I can’t wait to get onto Book 7 to find out what happens to her!

Even though the other books have been better, this is still up there as part of a great series of police procedural crime books. Now, onto book 7……

When the boy is found dead, Jessica and her team kick into high gear to solve the murder, but just as they begin their work, a woman is killed in identical fashion. On the surface there appears to be to no link between the victims. Jessica knows if she is to bring a killer to justice, she needs to find that link, and fast, before anyone else ends up dead

Tense, thrilling, unputdownable. Jessica just gets better and better. A superb, mind bending plot of twists that had me guessing and desperately turning the pages. Another brilliant story from the incredible Kerry Wilkinson.I love this author and this series and cannot wait for the next.

A married couple go out for 'date night', leaving their young daughter in the care of a friend's teenage son. When they return home, the first thing they see is that the front door is open. The baby sitter is gone ... their daughter is safely tucked into bed. At first they are angry that Oliver would leave his charge alone. But when they called his parents, he had not returned home ...and he left his phone behind. What happened to Oliver?

Then a couple of strange things happen. A journalist finds an obituary that had been placed for the victim just a few days before he disappeared. And then a few days later, Oliver's body is found in the bathtub of a woman he didn't know.

And when she is killed in the exact same way as the teenager, Detective Daniel sees sleepless nights ahead.

She and her team need to find the connection before the next body falls.

This is another habit-forming series that just gets better and better. Jessica Daniel is a solid character and it's been a roller coaster ride following her from the very first book. She's tough, she's honest, but some of her hard edges are softening just a bit. Her team is A+ .. they always have her back, and she has theirs.

There is a nice blend of professional angst and personal problems that easily keeps the reader's attention. There are plenty of credible suspects to investigate. The action is fast-paced and the suspense is palpable.

This is a terrific series! I highly recommend starting with Book 1 and reading in order.

I didn't realise on requesting this book that I had previously read this under a different title. Kerry Wilkinson is one of my favourite crime authors and I love the Jessica Daniel series. I was disappointed that I hadn't found a new book in the series. I notice now that this was a US release. It was a brilliant read and highly recommended.
