I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me.

Callie McClain was back in Montana to take care of his ailing father. Now wild fire is raging around wild wolf sanctuary but his father won’t budge to leave his home unless all the wolves are in his truck. Callie is trying her best to get the wolves in her truck but not all of them will be persuaded. Only couple of result left of her when she sees couple firefighters trying to help her out. Far as she was concerned they are are god send. Now his father is finally in the truck, she is racing down the mountain road to get his father to the hospital. She remembered one of the firefighter telling her to head down fastest she could to avoid being trapped in wall fire. When she finally reaches the bottom, as the mysterious firefighter promised his father is escorted by ambulance. She wanted thank him but she has to make sure all the wolves are taken care of before she does anything.
Tyler Dodson has been pushing himself to the brink after rescuing beautiful damsel at the top of the mountain. Now he is in the hospital bed recuperating after smoke inhalation. He thought he was dreaming when someone came into his room and stared into his eyes.
When Callie went back to the hospital to check on her father, she found the same firefighter who rescued her. She wanted to thank him before she loose him again.
Now they are crossing path while fire is raging around them. She is taking care of animals and he is still working as smoke jumper. They are attracted to each other but they know their time is limited since she is going back to her home in Monterey and he is going back to Glacier Creek.
Now, they have to decide if it will be fling or long term. Tyler never felt about a woman this way before and Callie’s home doesn’t feel like home to her any more. What will the do??

It was great read for summer.. Sexy firefighter and vet looking for love. I can’t wait to read about others..

"Heat" by Karen Foley is a book that has a bit of adventure, danger, love and "heat". Tyler and Callie meet under the hottest of circumstances - in the middle of a forest fire. Ms. Foley does an excellent job of describing the perils of wildfires. I felt I was right there with them and at times, found I was catching my breath waiting to see what would happen. Tyler, a sexy smokejumper, is attracted to Callie but fights the attraction. Callie, also attracted, feels it can go nowhere since she lives in California and he in Montana. The time they spend together I found to be warm and endearing. I enjoyed the aspect of the wolf sanctuary too. Ms. Foley has certainly written and enjoyable tale that held my interest and I look forward to reading more. Note - this is book four of the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone as I have not read the previous books and found I could follow along easily. (received copy for honest review)

Callie , A vet, returned to take care of family however when a wildfire endangers her life, she meets Tyler, the smokejumper sent in to save them. Again love the community and the progression of these characters as they deal with the job and changes to follow their hearts.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Really great book and my first by Foley but it won't be my last.

Calle, the wolf girl, and Tyler the firefighter, make a good couple. Overall I did like the book, and wanted to read through to the end. The struggle I had a bit was the writing, as I tended to hear the author's voice instead of the characters at times. Also, seemed to be a lot of details discussing the history from previous books, that I didn't feel was needed. This was the first book that I read in the series, although it is number 4, and the details meant little to me. Would recommend this story, as it makes a fun quick read. Good read for the beach or a rainy afternoon.

Heart stopping action from the onset, with more building throughout the story. The alpha smokejumper is hot, the heroine strong and independent, but together they ignite the pages. There is plenty to keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages. I was certainly engaged from beginning to end. Since this is the first story I've read in the Firefighters of Montana series, and if all the characters are nearly as captivating as Tyler and Callie, I need to begin at the beginning of the series and catch up on what I've missed.

This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Heat by Karen Foley is book 4 in the Firefighters of Montana Series. I have been reading this series backwards, which makes for saying the book reads well as a stand-alone. This story has quite a bit of fire fighting in it that caused my heart jump in my throat a time or two. It was realistic causing me to think to see how fast lives could be lost while going against a wildfire. The author called the fire a dragon at one point which I could clearly imagine. The romance was no less true, maybe more so when life becomes so very precious.

This story just flowed and while Tyler and Callie seemed to fall for each other rather quickly, I still found it completely believable. These are two of the most likable book characters that one could meet, so of course, I was pulling for them to find a way to make it work. They both had issues with their fathers that were on the way to being resolved which added to the story. The only part that was too quick for me was the ending that felt rushed. It was how I wanted it to end, but as a reader I would just have liked to see it expanded more.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

In Heat, Karen Foley has written a a sweet short story with a nice touch of sexy thrown in for good measure. Book 4 in the Firefighters of Montana series, Heat delivers readers right into the wildfire zone with the smokejumpers who are the centrepiece of the series. is short, sweet and just a touch sexy.
In telling the story of Tyler and Callie Karen Foley provides a glimpse of just what it is that smokejumpers do. There's the appeal of all that manly muscle, but seriously, these guys are amazing!
This story works equally well a a stand alone or as part of the series. I zipped through it. Perfect weekend reading.
