I read (and enjoyed) the first book in this series, Sleeping Giants, last year and was super excited that there was a sequel. When I saw that Netgalley was offering the sequel as a 'Read Now' book, I practically squealed and got it right away.

This book was similar to the first one, in that it was really entertaining and a quick read. If both of the books were a movie, I'd expect the first book to be the first hour and a half, and this one to be the last half hour where *all the things!* happen.

This book/series is not hard sci-fi by any measure, but as I said above, it's super entertaining and it's aliens and robots so I couldn't resist.

Ignore the comparisons to things like "The Martian" and "World War Z"—to be honest, I hate over-the-top nonsense marketing like that. I don't think this book (or series) is anywhere near as epic as either of them but it will definitely keep your attention. Plus, if you enjoyed the first book I think you'll enjoy this. (I also think you need to read the first book to enjoy this anyway.)

It looks like there's definitely a third in this series based on how the story ends (leaves you hanging, more like). I'll definitely be checking that out when it's released too.

More action packed and intriguing than the first book of the series, Waking Gods picks up with yet another historic event that could prove fatal for the human race. An incredible story, vastly plotted and executed perfectly through interviews/conversations. I can't wait for the next addition!
