Ive been waiting to read this since the cover reveal as it is just totally stunning. My goodness Rebecca Pugh has not let me down shes delivered another fantastic book!

A tale of two girls who used to be best friends at school, they told each other everything, did everything together, trusted each other until a big mistake tears them both apart.

Many years later and we see them receive invitations to their school reunion. They both turn up dreading seeing the other.

We learn that both girls have been through a lot in the last few years since they fell out and their lives arnt as happy or as perfect as they seem.

Both girls need to face up to what happened but us women know how hard it is for us to forgive and move on.

I read Right Here Waiting For You in just a matter of hours. From the very first chapter (which mind you is very surprising and funny its not what youd expect in the opening pages) well I was hooked after reading the first chapter!

It is hilariously good! 5*!

It has been far too long since I read a book by Rebecca Pugh and so I couldn't wait to get stuck into Right Here Waiting for You once it landed on my Kindle. I was excited to see how Rebecca may have matured as an author, and to see how her latest book compared with the others I had read. It took just the opening chapter to convince me I would enjoy this book. It opens with a scene that almost had me laughing out loud as we meet Magda, who finds herself in a situation more than one woman may be familiar with and I have to say it wasn't the opening scene I expected going into the book but it more than got my attention and made me read on.

Right Here Waiting for You is full of mystery as we follow our two main characters, Magda and Sophia. Both left school as best friends with their whole lives ahead of them, lives they promised would be lived side by side, with pregnancies planned to ensure that their children could grow up best friends, just like them. Fate however had other plans (well, not exactly fate but you'll have to read to find out more) and the two girls are now women, neither of them living the life they dreamed of, and both pondering on how the other is doing when they receive an invitation out of the blue inviting them to a school reunion, a prospect that fills them both with dread but also intrigue. Just what happened to drive these two friends apart, and what will happen when they attend the reunion?

Rebecca has created in Magda and Sophia two beautifully believable characters. Growing up surrounded by female friends I instantly connected with both of these characters, at times even being reminded of some of my own friends. Lots of us leave school full of hopes and dreams, and the belief that we will all remain friends forever, the sad fact is for the most part it's all smoke and mirrors, and for many people they struggle to maintain that friendship once school ends. The reader knows however that this friendship in particular ended because of something bad that one of the friends did, I did ultimately work out what that was before it was revealed but it in no way detracted from the story and was something else that was just all too believable.

If I had to choose a favourite character I think it would have to be Sophia because I felt it was admirable how she had lived her life in comparison to Magda. It's hard to go into detail and explain why fully, I just felt that as a single mum Sophia had contended with a lot more in her life and putting aside which of them might have been in the wrong, I'm used to reading about strong, independent women and Magda disappointed on that front for the majority of the book. Her idiotic husband should have been kicked to the kerb a long time ago and it was infuriating reading about how miserable she had allowed her life to become. That said, it did of course allow her to go on her own journey of self-discovery throughout the book and I did very much enjoy where her story went and loved the heart-warming scenes between her and her father when she returns to her childhood home.

Rebecca Pugh writes romance wonderfully. I always know going into her books that I will be treated to a love story, one that isn't going to be easy and one that takes the scenic route, treating us to plenty of drama and plenty of 'will they, won't they?' but that's always the allure of a story like this and the reason I love them so much is because I long for that happy ever after, and the glowing feeling you get from reading a book like this. Right Here Waiting for You is a fantastic story, one that I felt was a little short, but at the same time I don't think story or characterisation was sacrificed despite how short the book felt. It's rather thought-provoking in places, and goes to show the effects that mistakes, big and small can have on a person's life. Right Here Waiting for You is all about self-discovery, forgiveness, second chances, finding love and getting the most out of life. It's the perfect read for a lazy afternoon and it's a book I have no hesitation in recommending.
