I have been on a real dragon kick lately and while this wasn't the best it wasn't the worst either and I rather enjoyed it.

The Dragon's Cave is the first book in the series of medieval middle grade fantasy novels. If you like Eragon and How to Train your Dragon, then you'll love Rose-Marie Lyttle's incredible adventure for kids ages 9-14.
I could not put this book down until every page was read. The story has so much meaning for life. I loved Seamus and his adventure into the dragon cave. This is a great adventure story and also about morals too. Great storytelling, good characters, I do hope this is the start of a series

WOW! I started reading this and I didn't want to stop. I was a little confused at the beginning, (what does cross country have to do with dragons?!) but I loved how the lightning strike took Seamus to Aster. Aster was such a believable place, I felt like I was right there with Seamus. I was sad to leave it behind when I finished.

A very riveting read the storyline is absolutely stunning and I enjoyed reading every bit of it. I didn’t like the King is was a bit too cruel and greedy, Seamus and Andy were cool and I like princess Lacey. I distinctly like how Seamus was introduced to the fae realm Aster, the lightning strike was a stroke of genius, the author is a creative genius. Although the story is a short it is jammed packed with adventure of the magical kind, this is an awesome children book.

The Dragon's Cave is a great middle-grade book for all those that enjoy a fast- paced book full of magic, dragons, time travel and unexpected twists and turns! The medieval world was really interesting and the writing style was so easy and fast to read, I read the whole book in one go. It's a shame there isn't a paperback version, as the age group around 12+ probably doesn't have eReaders but otherwise I would wholly recommend this book.

This middle grade is definitely a book which adults can read too! Can't wait for the second book of the series!

~5/5~ (Posted on Goodreads on 4/7/17)
Nice, charming relatively short story about a guy that's placed in an olden day setting with dragons.

I would've liked for there to be more of an intro to the lightning-now-in-different-time setting, but it was fine all the same. To be honest, based on the writing and general plot from Seamus's current day cross country drama, I most likely would've enjoyed reading a book solely centered around the normal life of Seamus, despite the fact that I picked up this ARC because it incorporated dragons. Because of the opening the ending provided for the series, it seems like the rest of the plotline can only get even more interesting.

There's not much that stuck out to me in terms of flaws or plot holes, so I'm pleased to say that I really did enjoy this children's/middle-grade book, and I can't wait until Aster comes back!

Struck by lightning, twelve-year-old Seamus is thrust into medieval times in a parallel situation. Confused and physically unable to tell anyone that he is from another time, he struggles to adjust to the speech patterns and the new skills (archery, horse back riding) he is expected to know. He finds that he is part of a troop on a quest to conquer a dragon and steal the spoils, a quest which does not sit well with him, especially when he discovers that he is mysteriously and magically connected to the nature around him.
While the Dragon's Cave superimposes fantastic and magical creatures against a backdrop of realism, the fantasy elements are introduced in a seamless way that makes it easy for the readers to make the imaginative leap and follow the author on the story's path.
The Dragon's Cave is fast-paced and fun. The tension and action hardly let up. The theme of respect for nature and fellow human beings is consistent throughout the book. This is a common theme, the bad guys are destructive thugs, the good guys appear to be bad but are only so because they are protecting their realm; so the book is not particularly original on that front. However, it is an important theme that warrants regular reinforcement today. The book also addresses friendships and the challenges of maintaining long-standing friendships even as you change and mature.
The writing is clear and descriptions vivid. The author sets us up nicely for the sequel and readers will be intrigued, albeit more by the dragon and the characters that exist in that world than by Seamus and his friends.
Overall an enjoyable book.

This charming and captivating tale had me from the first chapter and although it’s absolutely perfect for middle school level kids even I as an adult loved it.

It was so gripping, suspenseful and exciting as you get to travel on this wonderful fantasy adventure. The story will hold your attention from the beginning through a satisfying conclusion. There’s plenty of actions, twists and turns and intriguing surprises to keep you entertained throughout the way.

Rose-Marie Lyttle has a way of writing these interesting and complex characters that engage the entire emotional spectrum. I loved how her characters felt realistic as they helped keep the pace of the story moving quickly besides there were Dragons! How can you not be excited over dragons??!!

Even better it’s only the first in a series so there will be plenty of more fun adventures to come!
