"Chasing Secrets" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. This is the fourth book in a series. You don't need to read the previous books to understand this one, and this story didn't spoil the previous novels. It didn't pay to stand too close to Haley as her enemies didn't care who got hurt in their attempts to kill her. The suspense was created by the repeated attempts to kill Haley, the uncertainty about who's trying to kill her, and some medical emergencies.

I liked the main characters as they where kind, thoughtful people who cared for others in addition to being good at their jobs. I enjoyed how Steven supported Haley and showed his friendship and caring (and all before they kissed! So many authors have people kissing before they even know each other). I found the ending a bit...extravagant and containing some unnecessary complications, but I suppose "bigger is better" in suspense. And it was exciting.

The Christian theme was about forgiving those who have hurt or wronged you. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.

Another action-packed story in this exciting series! Book four features Haley, a member of the bodyguard team with a mysterious past, and Steven, a new detective in town who has returned to help out his ailing father. A 25 year old cold case and a recent unsolved murder in town brings these two together, plus a dangerous stalker is on the hunt with Haley as his target.

Plenty of action, building in suspense, and laced with a bit of romance, this book kept me up late at night. It reads fine as a stand alone, with some tiny recaps from the other stories to fill in. Haley is a courageous character, working at the teen center to help share hope and God's love with troubled youth, hoping to "use her own past to help those in the present." She is a good example to Steven and encouragement to let go of his own bitterness and forgive. They are both committed to serve and do justice, and shine as they reach out to a family in need. Faith, hope, and a few romantic moments add an extra layer of tenderness to this tale, softening the darkness from the violent and sinister elements.

Recommend to fans of mysteries and crime dramas, with some faith and romance. 4.5 stars

CHASING SECRETS by Lynette Eason book # 4 in Elite Guardian series. A cold case, in Ireland ,that O'Brien requested to work on, Aileen was his friend. He was suppose to been on bus, home with the flu. Now 25 years later a picture is shown to Ian, who has been in seclusion all this time. Taken of the bus group, Aileen and nanny not there. The killers never found was it mafia, family feud or what. This story is of Hayley, DNA shows she is also Allison, Ian's granddaughter. She is a body guard, friend to Quinn's wife, and meeting his new partner Steven. When she finds out why someone is watching her, will she believe them, or afraid, that the nightmares were real. A good plot, a lot of action, mystery to figure out what was behind this. Enjoyable series, as all of Lynette Eason books are. Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

I am reviewing a copy of Chasing Secrets through Revell and Netgalley:

The book opens up in 1991 Rock Moran Castle, Count Mayo Aileen Burke had stayed home from school due to a sore throat, but she was supposed to be going on a field trip to the Zoo, her Nanny had finally gotten her calmed down when gunshots rung out.

Aileen was killed that day twenty five years ago, or so they believe but could she and her Nanny have escaped? A picture may just be the proof her Grandfather needs.

A DNA test soon proves Ian's Granddaughter is still alive, and living in the United States.

Haley is build a life for herself in the States wanting to leave Ireland and its horrible memories behind.

Haley is far from out of danger though, those who wanted her dead as a child realizes she's still alive.

Will they succeed this time in eliminating Haley, or will they get caught?

Find out in Chasing Secrets!

Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!!

Lynette Eason knows exactly what the readers of romantic suspense want. If they are anything like me, then they want non-stop action with someone's life in danger. I have devoured Always Watching, Without Warning, and Moving Target, so I can't wait to see what Eason had in store for me in Chasing Secrets. I recommend Eason's books all the time to fellow readers who claim to want tons of suspense with a hint of romance. Eason has not disappointed me yet.
As an accomplished writer, I'm sure that Eason will know how to write into deep point of view without distracting me from the story. The setting comes to life and keeps me anchored in the story without any question or pulling out to watch Eason explain things for me. I empathized with the characters as they struggled with their identity and moving on from the past. The character of Haley is a dynamic character who places children first in her life. She loves them and wants to help improve their lives, which is shown in the center she runs and how much time she invests in their individual lives. I enjoyed watching Haley's transformation story as she went through the story. As for Steven, he is a wonderful parallel to Haley and compliments her and her need to overcome the mysteries of her past. Steven also changes by learning to forgive and letting go of some of his past anger issues.
The plot is original and unpredictable. Eason is a master at allowing me to not to figure out who the villain is before the end of the novel. When she introduced the bad guy, I was shocked. It was not who I thought it was. Good job, Eason! I loved being proven wrong . . . or right when reading a suspense.
The spiritual element of forgiveness and letting go off the past affected by main characters, and I'm glad that Eason allowed this change to happen naturally, not force it on the characters. I don't believe some readers will be turned off by the spiritually of the story; it was not the driving force of the plot, just there to deepened the characters.
Overall, Lynette Eason's Chasing Secrets is a fabulous conclusion to her Elite Guardians' series, and I enjoyed spending time with all four heroines and loved watching them change and mature as the series deepened. I highly recommend Chasing Secrets for fans of Lynette Eason's other books or romantic suspense in general. A great read!
I received a complimentary copy of Chasing Secrets by Lynette Eason from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

Good plot and pacing. Was a trifle bit confused whenever there was a drastic change in the story (going from Aileen/Haley's POV to the assassin's) as there were no breaks in text to indicate that there's a different narrative, but I'm confident that will be resolved in the paper format.

Haley has always had nightmares of another life that seem so real. Now, Twenty-five years later, Haley is finding out that those nightmares are real. Someone killed her family all those years ago and now they have found Haley and are determined to get rid of her as well. Haley must call on the full agency of her co-workers in the Elite Guardians to protect herself and those she has become close to in order to help her delve into a past that has haunted her for years.

From the moment Steven meets Haley he is captivated. Especially by her Irish brogue that comes out now and then! Steven marvels at Haley's strength and positive attitude when life has been so hard. Steven's brother was killed years before, so he is no stranger to heartache. Steven doesn't know why, but he is drawn to protect Haley as one attempt after another is made on her life.

I enjoyed this last book of the Elite Guardian series. Haley grew up on the streets, but yet she is not tainted by that upbringing. I loved the suspense throughout the book. The action kept the book moving along and the relationships developed at a quick pace. I love a strong female character and Haley was a perfect fit for the Elite Guardians. If you haven't read this series I highly recommend it!

Notes: This review will post on my blog on August 1, 2017. It will also post on Goodreads, Amazon and facebook on that date.

Chasing Secrets

Gripping

I had goosebumps all over my body as I read this. Action-packed, suspenseful, fast-paced, gripping. A wonderful mystery. Brings to mind movies such as James Bond where the opening scene is everybody getting shot and then they try to figure out who did it, why, and what happened to the missing people. Fantastic writing. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down.
-'“The people who tried to kill you and yer family were never caught. You think they’re still out there?”
“I don’t know about that, but there’s no doubt in my mind we were all supposed to die that day.”
Duncan nodded.
“Every last one o’ you.”
“Every last one.”-
This story is set in Ireland and it takes place in modern times (begins in 1991 with a retrospect and it mostly takes place currently).
This is the first book by this author that I have read. It was mesmerizing. I would definitely read more by this author.

Chasing Secrets is the fourth exciting romantic suspense book in the Elite Guardians series written by author Lynette Eason. Love Haley and Steven's story. Thanks to NetGalley and Revell Publishing for the advance copy.

Lynette Eason continues her high-octane Elite Guardian series with Chasing Secrets. Book 4 focuses on Haley Callaghan. The set-up is intriguing. The story begins in Ireland as we bear witness to an almost unspeakable tragedy involving a young girl whose family is brutally murdered. She manages to escape with her nanny, but not before seeing her father’s dead body, an image that will become seared in her memory. The next chapter introduces us to the young girl’s grandfather who is presented with evidence that his granddaughter, believed to have been killed in a bus explosion, might have survived. The plot thickens—we discover that the young girl we met earlier was supposed to have been on that bus but she wasn’t. She was home with her nanny. The two violent events—the murders at the family’s castle and the bus explosion—are related. Nobody in the family was meant to survive. But the little girl did and she’s now Haley Callaghan, a bodyguard living in South Carolina.

When Haley is first introduced, she’s worried that she is being followed. There’s great suspense upfront since we don’t know what the person following her is up to. I also liked how Eason fills out Haley’s personality, especially her work with children. As each book in the series focuses on a different bodyguard, I sometimes worry about keeping the characters straight. But here my worry is unfounded since the author fleshes out the characters and provides sufficient details about both their inner and outer lives. Haley and Steven display admirable characteristics—heroic selflessness and love for others—and they seem well-suited for each other.

If you’ve read the other books in the series, you’ll see that the beginning of this one has a slightly different feel to it with the setting in a castle and the characters speaking with an Irish brogue. But just as I was getting impatient to meet Haley in present-day, the story switched to her perspective and I was able to settle in to enjoy the rest of the story.

The author is very good at action sequences and maintaining suspense. As the story develops, I loved following along with Haley and Steven as they try to solve the mystery of Haley’s past, which is multi-layered and complex. Around every turn, they face new dangers and the stakes are raised, especially when the children are involved. This is a recipe for a great suspense book and Eason executes it very well. Throw in a dash—well, more than a dash—of romance between swoon-worthy Steven and lovable Haley and we have a fantastic romantic suspense novel.

Fans of Eason’s previous novels as well as readers who enjoy Irene Hannon and Dee Henderson should pick this one up. You don’t need to have read the other Elite Guardian books first. But I’m guessing if you like Chasing Secrets, then you’ll quickly add them to your to-be-read list.
