Did not finish. It was very hard to get back into the story more than a year after I'd read the first book in the series, and it was not at all interesting.

This does the same as the other book they wore. Tears your emotions out of you like a full bucket of water that has been kicked over in the rain. So many twists and turns, ups and downs.. the emotional tide on these books are something you have to experience yourself and how you relate to the story around you. Yes would recommend this story.

Wow! Kerry Lonsdale amazed me with the second installment. I was nervous going in, because the first installment wow-ed me. And let me tell you , this book did not disappoint in anyway. I felt the continuation was a perfect flow to the first book ( there were flashbacks that were written perfectly, not overdone) , and because of the smooth transition , you did not feel like you lost time. Character development gained in my opinion, and you got to know the main characters even more than you would of imagined. I am looking forward to the third installment, so glad I found this authoress, her stories are remarkable.

Everything We Left Behind is the second book in this series and this time round we get to follow James in more detail as the protagonist. I read and enjoyed the first book, and was looking forward to this second chapter in the story. I was curious about James and Carlos and how their lives would switch from one to the other. It was interesting finding out more about the characters and the different points of view they had about things that happened in the first book.

I suggest reading the first book before diving into this one as this follows on the story from that one. Whilst you could read this without having read the first, this is much better if you have that background knowledge.

The thing I found with this book was that whilst I enjoyed it, and didn't have any problems picking it back up after a break, I didn't have any problem putting it down either.

Do not read this book without reading the 1st book in the series. If you do it will be confusing. This book picks up 5 years later from the first book. James comes out of a dissociative fugue state to discover six and a half years have pasted and he has two sons he doesn't remember. He has lost Aimee the love of his life and what he has left as his time as Carlos are the journals he left behind explaining everything. James will need to figure out what happened to him when he went after Phill and who can he trust.

To be honest this was a harder read for me than the first book. It is just me because I wanted the book to go faster. The author was building up the story and I just wanted her to skip certain things and move on to the main issue and what occurred. Not a bad story and a quick read. I felt bad for Aimee but understood her life needed to move on. It was a story based on accepting what occurred and forgiving yourself and others for things that occurred. If you read the 1st book you are going to want to know what happened so pick up the book and give it a try. You might like it better than I did.

Everything We Left Behind is the highly anticipated novel that follows Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale.
Told from one man's two perspectives as he struggles to discover the truth of his own identity. This sequel unravels the mysteries, fears and heartaches James/Carlos has endured for many years.
Weaving between past and present, the story reveals a man who is determined to protect his family while uncovering the secrets of his own heart.
I enjoyed each and every chapter from beginning to end.
Ms. Lonsdale gives us a unique storyline and a mystery full of twists and turns.
Loved it!

This was a really good story, Kerry Lonsdale writes beautifully. However, I often found it a little confusing going back and forwards between Carlos and James. The story was very in depth and there is a lot happening because of the dissociative fugue Carlos has found himself in since the accident on the boat.

There were so many secrets being kept, especially from Carlos's sons and the role James's Mother played.

I really did enjoy this book but found I had to concentrate a lot to keep up with the character changes.

Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Everything We Left Behind is the second book in the Everything series from Kerry Lonsdale; follow up to Everything We Keep.

I’ll start by saying that these books really need to be read as a series. I found this one a little confusing at times despite having read the first so anyone reading this without first reading Everything We Keep will end up lost!

The first book is Aimee’s story and explains exactly what happened to James in Mexico and the years that follow. This one tells us James’/Carlos’ story. Told from both perspectives, James’ in the present day and Carlos’ starting 5 years ago and moving through to the present day, the book gradually opens up the mystery of James’ fugue and Carlos’ time in Mexico.

The book is interesting but at times a bit confusing. I kept forgetting which “character” knew what! Not a lot happens through the main part of this book which makes it a bit of a slog trying to keep up with the constant character change and flicking from past to present day. Saying that however, the book is still a good read and enjoyable. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first in the series but that’s not to say it’s not good. I enjoyed reading about Carlos’ life and his relationship with Natalya. James’ story was a little harder to follow with him trying to recover memories whilst learning about the last 6 years of his life spent as Carlos.

Overall, this is another good one from Kerry Lonsdale and sets it up for the 3rd book in the series; Everything We Give. I’ll definitely be reading this one too!
Make sure you’ve read the first in the series before you dive into this one!

Thank you to Kerry Lonsdale, NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the second book in this series. I didn’t like it as much as the first. I’m looking forward to reading the final book in the trilogy.

In volume 2 of the Everything series, EVERYTHING WE LEFT BEHIND, Lonsdale has the perspective switch to a male point of view. With time bouncing between past and present, the reader must pay close attention. Although this book is very different from volume 1, it’s just as exciting and emotional. This is a great emotional read.

Not as engaging or as interesting as the first book, but still a good sequel. I found the characters all very relatable and the plot was pretty decent. I will hopefully be able to get my hands on the next book in the series.

Oh Kerry, first of all thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read the ARC for this book. I love how all three stories in this series connect and yet are completely unique and special. This book was a complete emotional rollercoaster. I was incredibly impressed with the research and narrative with the intricate story line of Ian's. This is an amazing read and I could not wait to get home and finish it today! I highly recommend this series and this book. I am also proud to be a Tiki.

Everything We Left Behind was a delightful sequel to Everything We Keep (which you must read before tackling the former). It did a great job of filling in gaps from the first book and heightening the intrigue. If I’m to be honest, I must admit that I found myself lost jumping back and forth in time, but it did make sense in the end, so please don’t give up on it.

If you’ve read the first book, you know that the characters are childhood sweethearts who on the eve of their wedding experience a painful separation which changes their lives forever. This second book examines the separation further and explains how they’ve managed to go on with their lives.

The author does a great job of feeding those of us who’ve grown attached to the main characters and leaves us eagerly awaiting the third and final book in the series.

General Fiction (Adult), Women’s Fiction, Relationships, Family Dynamics

Carlos and James have something in common. They share the same body but not the same memories. James is suffering from a psychological fugue. In this state, James disappears and Carlos emerges. He lives in Mexico with his two sons.

When his former fiancé, Aimee arrives asking questions, Carlos must be told the truth. He doesn’t ‘t believe any of it. He confronts the woman he believes is his sister. She confesses to him and he is enraged and he has been used as a pawn. He researches fugue and begins to worry about the future. If he comes out of the fugue, he would lose the memories of his sons and his life in Mexico. To help James, Carlos begins to keep a journal of everything along with pictures and newspapers.

This is the second book in the Everything Series. The book is well written and the characters are very developed. It is written in first person point of view with changes in voice depending on whose story is being told. The author’s research on psychological fugue is very good and makes the subject understandable.

I enjoyed reading this because it made me question what I would do if I woke up one day and found myself inhabiting another life! The boys' response to how their dad had changed was particularly credible. The only anticlimax for me was when Phil finally came back into the picture - I was expecting a more malevolent character, although it made for a happier ending all round.

Kerry Lonsdale is a brilliant writer who continues to amp up her own ability. In her 3rd book, the second in this series, Lonsdale dives deep into the life of a man in a fugue state, both as he was in that state and as he is in trying to reconcile a past six years where he was both alive and dead. Characters who I'd previously despised were made complete through revelations of their own, and this world that Lonsdale created continues to unfold with rich layers that both propel the plot and deepen character arcs. I loved it, will absolutely follow this story along as it continues.

Kerry Lonsdale has a way of tugging at the heartstrings in such a way that I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with this book and the continuing journey of James.

Spoiler? I was totally still rooting for James and Amy, but as the story progressed, I fell in love with the relationship between James (Carlos) and Natalya. The struggle to get there was so achingly painful, though, and much like the first book, the more action oriented parts were great. I loved seeing a different side of the story from his new perspective, and seeing his original self adapt and grow to love his new life.

After reading Everything We Keep, I dove right into this book. I wasn't sure how the same intensity would be kept up but I was certainly pleased with this book as well. The plot twists were there and kept me guessing on a few things right to the end. I am so impressed with Kerry Lonsdale, an author to follow for sure.
