Genuinely laugh-out-loud funny stories in here. Some of them made me cringe with second-hand embarrassment, but given the topic definitely unavoidable. I would have liked for the illustrations to be on the same page as the stories, rather than a separate page for each one, as it disrupted the pacing for me. Overall an enjoyable read.

I hate to say that this unique book is hilarious because it's literally filled with heartbreak - but it is! I see it as the perfect gift (along with a bottle of wine and massive chocolate bar) to a friend who's just been through a breakup - but only AFTER they've gotten over the worst of it! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

The stories in this graphic novel were both funny and varying degrees of cringe worthy. It could have done without the illustrations and instead included more stories, though.

A short book filled with hilarious stories on breakups which most people can relate to. Recommend to anyone looking for a good laugh.

Breaking up is the worst thing ever. For those who have gone through, or have seen someone else go through it, then you know this. There is a lot of screaming and crying, hurling of insults and objects which can cause damage. This is the case for most unless you are in that group of people who manage to have a calm-let- us- be- friends kind of breakup.

If that is the case then good for you. Personally I like to be a little dramatic.

As the title suggests, this book is inspired by different people's breakup stories. Each story is followed up by a (related) funny illustration by the author. I was sold on this book by the title but the author's dedication didn't hurt either.

<i>"To that one dude, for being such an inspirational dick."</i>

The stories in this book albeit interesting were a testament to how awful people can be to each other. I get it though, you don't want to be nice to this other person. If you were such a fan of theirs you wouldn't be leaving them. But the stories in this book? I agree with the author, breaking up may be hard, but we could always do better. Of course, it is easier said than done.

***I recommend this book because it will make you feel better about your breakup. If not, at least you'll have something to read over the weekend

As someone who adores humorous graphic novels, I was so excited to read this. It was cute and decent, would be good to read after a breakup (which I am not experiencing currently, so it was a bit hard to relate, but I'll come back to it I'm sure, sigh). Would be very cathartic to read after a breakup for sure, but it certainly didn't reinvent any wheels (or come close).

Got this book courtesy of NetGalley.

I'm not sure I'd say it's a book, more like long Bored Panda post. Never the less, it's a fun read, the illustrations are cute, and most of all - we can all relate to those savage break-up shit, right? Highly recommended!

A compilation of stories and artwork based off the real life breakups of a variety of different people, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do (But You Could Have Done Better) is a pretty fun read. All those stories that you used to read in that one section of the magazine have now been jotted down in the pages of a book. From those young middle school break ups to the ones as an adult that truly break your heart, this book does a pretty wonderful job of capturing them all.

Admittedly, I don’t really see Breaking Up Is Hard To Do as the sort of book I would really bother myself to buy, but rather as the sort of book that I’d page through in the bookstore appreciating each story and piece of art inside, and then set back on the shelf. It’s not a reread sort of book, though you can find yourself truly feeling for the people as some of their worst breakups are laid bare in front of your eyes. I did really enjoy reading this book, though I definitely expected there to be more artwork and less text.

Each story is told with a block of text on a page, followed by an illustration or two that captures the general gist of how the breakup went. It doesn’t really follow a graphic novel format or anything like that, which is fine and I think the artist manages to make the compilation work well with her work. I had initially expected it to follow a more graphic novel format, though, having imagined that more of the story would be available in art form. This, of course, would have been much more difficult to portray.

I definitely think this book is worth reading, though probably not really one to reread.

Quick read! This book wasn't exactly what I was expecting.

That to says the stories listed were entertaining, some brutal, but overall it was the illustrations that were my favorite part. Might be something fun to get a friend going through a bad breakup.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do... But You Could've Done Better by Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell is a must-have book. We have all been there, on either side of the breakup, we are either the brokenhearted or the cause of the broken heart. This book shares some messed up, hilarious, leave you speechless type of break up stories. Real stories, as in people actually are telling you the ways they've been broken up with.
You don't even have to be going through a break-up to enjoy this book. I loved it and laughed from beginning to end. It helps you remember that laughter can cure all, even a broken heart.

A few of the stories were interesting, but I found most of them to read like I was reading through a clickbait article online, unfortunately. Although I very much appreciate the sentiment behind the idea, and love the accompanying illustrations.

3.5/5
This book is witty, honest, and sharp. The illustrations paint a hilarious image of just how awful people can be. The humor is light and doesn’t take itself too seriously. the submissions for this book really revealed the lows some people will go to. Overall, I enjoyed reading this collection of comics, and would definitely turn to it in the case of a breakup.

This book had a cute quirk to it. Well, as cute as you can get when you’re a kinda sloppily drawn book about break-ups. This book reminds me way too much of the old FML website and all those Bustle and Buzzfeed articles about people and their tragic stories. So in this day and age, this book is remarkably unoriginal. But did I still have a fun time reading this and laughing/cringing at other people’s expense? Yes. Yes I did.

Breakups are rough. There's the crying, the ice cream, the wondering how you could possibly have nearly married someone who thought it was reasonable to cheat with a cocktail waitress because she bailed him out of jail for a DUI (yep that story is in here).

From the totally understandable reasons for breaking up with someone ("I wanted to spend more time with my dog") to the totally outrageous reasons for being dumped ("Jesus came to him in a vision and told him I was a whore"), the stories here are funny, sad, and sometimes really, really, really weird.

The illustrations themselves aren't really all that impressive but it's still an interesting, quick read if you want a little laugh, especially if you need a little pick-me-up to know that you're not alone and that someone else has also dated someone who threw a temper tantrum because they dared to go to the gym, only to come home to find their significant other had packed their things and moved out (yep, that one actually happened to me folks...good riddance!).

This was a very fast read for me. As someone who has been dumped, I enjoyed other peoples stories of pain. Some of the stories were funny, but some were downright mean.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has dating troubles or just a enjoys reading.

I enjoyed this short easy read. The artwork and pictures really gave the stories more character and there were a few times that I laughed out loud. You can not go into this book thinking that you will get a satisfying read. I know that it is a compilation of breakup stories, but I do wish there had been more/longer stories to read.

This collection of break-up stories was both funny and sad at the same time. Just more proof that some people are giant piles of burning garbage. I did enjoy the artist's interpretations of the stories though some of the drawing were a little kitschy.

This was 150 pages of funny break up stories, with illustrations at the end or middle of each story.

Some of them I liked, some of them not really, but overall it was a good book.

This book is completely pointless. The "author" took a collection of other peoples stories and put them together, added some stupid doodles and calls it a book.

While the stories themselves are quite funny, the cartoons are terrible and unnecessary, much like the "author". Its beyond me how she managed to get this published.

Really cute book of stories & cartoons regarding breakups.... relatable & cathartic! I really liked the artwork & will look up more of Campbell's work! A short, fun, quickly read book....this will make you feel good, & put a smile on your face! Yep, highly recommend it!
