This book was very fun to see all the horrible ways people end a relationship. some were tragic and others were too funny not to laugh.

Note: I received this book from the author/publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A really cool concept but ultimately a little lackluster for me. I loved the illustrations and the cozy feel of the book. It probably would be more helpful or resonate more if I was going through a breakup but for me, it didn't hit that emotional level. None of the stories really made me laugh out loud or feel anything more than "ooof, that sucks". So on the whole, a really neat concept and some super lovely art but the stories fall flat.

This is a collection of short stories about peoples break-ups. I found it funny, and also very relatable! I did like the illustrations. It is a great book to grab when you want to read something not very deep but fun!

I usually like reading books similar to Breaking Up is Hard to Do... But You Could've Done Better, basically books of lists or collections of short vignettes. That's what drew me to this title along with the fact that nearly everyone has been through a break-up whether on the receiving or the delivering end. There was a nice collection of various individuals who had been through a break-up at some point in their life from former high school sweethearts to grade-school puppy love that wasn't to be.

Some of the individuals that did the breaking up also acknowledged when they were hurting their former significant other, and while I respect that, I'm sure there was a better way to go about it. Then again, that's part of the title, too, so fairly accurate. I was kind of hoping there was more graphic novel to the collection, especially since I found it listed under that genre. There were some illustrations that went along well with their respective vignette, but I just wanted more.

Overall, this was an good collection.

It reads more as an autobiography than it reads like a humorous comic about breakups. I would have liked to see more advice and tips.

Want to lose your faith in humanity? Look no further... Breaking Up is Hard to Do... But You Could've Done Better by Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell is the perfect way to make you say "I'll never get into a relationship again." Breaking Up is Hard to Do is a compilation of crazy breakup stories. Once you finish this book you will be so glad you never had any of these experiences (or if you did, I pity you). Definitely recommended for anyone who is recently single.

Breaking up Is hard to do, but reading these funny stories will make you feel slightly better about your own bad experiences. From the over dramatic nonsense of grade school to some truly downright horrible adult moments (unknowingly planning a birthday party for your SO with the person they’re cheating on you with), it’s a quick fun read with fun illustrations to compliment the stories.

Some of these stories will make you smile, giggle and generally shock you. I really enjoyed reading this and cannot wait to have a physical copy in my hands.

A quick graphic novel on terrible breakups people have had or have done told with comical pictures to go alongside the stories.

It's almost a weird insight on how horrible people can be, but at the same time the way that we (or the storytellers) have handled the breakups make it seem not so bad. In one, a girl is told her boyfriend no longer finds her attractive and wants the lingerie he gave her back - in which is appalling but at the same time was somehow made funny ??? You have to almost ask yourself "Who does this!?" but then you think back on your life and realize that, yeah, this is relatable.

I almost wish it were longer but short and sweet is completely acceptable in this case. Enjoyed!

Librarian: I might consider this one. I’ve found that kids invariably love collections of silly/obnoxious stories/facts. I’ll have to check if we have any on relationships.
Reader: A few minutes on the internet will produce hundreds (thousands) of articles exactly like this book. As such I wouldn’t buy a copy of it for myself. It is however still a fun sort of read, and clearly people do like it, or there wouldn’t be so many articles.

Thanks to NetGalley & Animal Media Group for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to like this, as the synopsis sounded right up my alley - stories of sad, crazy, hilarious break-ups accompanied by quirky doodle art? Sign me up! I expected to cringe, to laugh, to gasp, to sigh, to slap my hand over my mouth at the audacity of the break-up shenanigans that the book promised.

Unfortunately, what I got instead was total and utter disappointment.

The stories were cringe-y, but not due to how lol-worthy they were. A majority of the stories were completely pointless, and half of them I thought would continue on the next page because they seemed half-finished. Several stories featured extremely misogynistic language, including slut shaming and insulting physical appearances.

The book reads like a terrible Reddit post that would only receive downvotes. Several times throughout the brief 15-20 minutes it took me to get through this, I wondered if they just skipped the editing stage altogether.

I would not recommend this to anyone, for any reason.

This is a cute and quick read, and the kind of book that will probably work well as pick-me-up for anyone who has just endured a bad split with a partner. In times like those, it's handy to have a light reminder that you're anything but alone.

Breaking up isn't just hard, it's also awkward, sometimes ridiculously funny, melancholic, and mostly always The Right Thing To Do. This was such a nice blend of funny and bittersweet! I definitely wish I could have read this when it so definitely applied to me. If you're going through a hard break up, or even just a bumpy road in your relationship, READ THIS.

The formatting of the collection didn't work too well with the kindle app on my phone. The stories were spaced weird and some ran together making it hard to determine where a new story started..

This was really funny and showed how terrible people can be.

Sorry, this book is just not for me. Dare I say.... it could've done better. Amidst positive reviews for this one, I didn't feel the cutesy and funny vibes that everyone must have felt for this. The font was hard to read but the artworks were okay and kinda cute. There were a couple of stories where the art/drawing spoiled me of what was to come next because I saw it before I could even finish reading the paragraph (read: the girl whose boyfriend drove with her family to Canada). Reading this felt like reading a page off of a teenage magazine and maybe even pages of Cosmo featuring embarrassing stories. I could tell some reviewers liked this but this is just not my cup of tea.

Hilarious, you may read something similar to a break you’ve been through or maybe one of a friend. Some are the funniest you may ever read. Fun read!!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review

This book started out so strong! I mean the dedication in the first page says: To that one dude, for being such an inspirational dick. And honestly I'm that kind of a horrible person that I tend to laugh for other people's struggles. Damn, I even laugh for my own struggles. I know, that's awful and I'm spiteful. But there I was, thinking that this book is the book that would make me laugh, it says it's supposed to be hilarious.

But that was not the case. While I was reading this book I was furrowing my brows and grinning. Most of those stories had people who seemed to be more crazy than dicks! Here's one example:
I needed to break up with my girlfriend. It was time: we were young, and it was just not going to last.
She kneed me in the balls. I fell to the ground. She stormed into her house. I got up and climbed into my car to drive home. She ran outside and jumped on the hood of my car, begging me not to leave. I got her off my car and drove home.
She started calling my cell phone nonstop, then called my parents' landline, thinking I might be there. My father, whose voice is very similar to mine, answered. She thought he was me and threatened to commit suicide.

So yeah, none of these made me even smile. I shook my head, grinned and furrowed my brows so much it made my face and head hurt. It has been over 10 years since my last break up and that was bad one but I don't think that this would have made me feel any better even if I had just broken up with someone. There are break ups that make me smile and then there are the ones that are better off being separated because the other one is crazy. But who am I to say this won't help someone else who has just broken up?
