An emotional, passionate, and touching romance story with a touch of danger and suspense.
This story has a heartfelt, in-depth look at the sacrifices, challenges, and the instability that military families live with on daily basis, how the service to the country affects those serving and to those who are left behind waiting for the homecoming. The nightmares, flashbacks, and losses the service personal faces and come home with were described with raw honesty as well as the terrors that they carry with them rest of their lives.
Oh, there was sweet, hot romance and constantly present danger, even one on one action and palpable fear for their lives, but the mental battle of survival and learning to live with the images of the war as a constant companion in your head as you close your eyes, that is what was on my mind as I finished the story.
Elijah Prescott and Ava Monroe's love story started years ago. They had faced the difficulties, the challenges, the troubles, the pressure, and expectations from their families. Yet what ultimately drifted them apart was a devasting loss of life.
There's no question about if Elijah and Ava love each other, needs each other, desire each other - that is palpable in the air, a tangible force pulling them together. But the growth, the maturing, learning to accept, to be open, to communicate, to make compromises, to dare to take the risk and the leap of love, that is what they have to learn and figure out if it is worth to betting everything on their love.
Call to Engage had the elements that I expected with romance and suspense, but it had so much more as well with the mental and emotional concerns of the protagonists, the anguished battles of their minds and hearts.

4 1/2 STARS!

Book two in Tawny Weber's Team Poseidon series is even better than the first as the team digs deep to try to flush out the traitor in their midst! We get to know some of their history better and go on a crash course of his past with Elijah as he works through some issues.  A powerful group of men who know how to show their soft side when dealing with the friendships they hold dear!

Lieutenant Elijah Prescott is still trying to pick up the pieces of his sanity after his last mission went haywire. He's heading home on leave to try to figure out what life holds for him now. He's just expecting the relax and regroup, he didn't know he'd be running into his ex-wife and have the past reel him in again!

Ava Monroe thought she had moved past their history, but seeing Elijah brings it all screaming to the front again. Their marriage suffered great tragedy and instead of turning towards each other to heal, it split them apart. She turned away from him and found a way to heal herself enough to become a stronger, independent person. The attraction between them rears it's head as soon as they cross each other's paths again, so instead of trying to fight it, she decides to delve right back into it and get it out of their systems so she can go on with her life once he's gone again ... what she doesn't count on, is actually getting neck deep in a mission with him and having to learn how strong her love for him really is!

Can love 2nd time around work for this wounded SEAL and his ex?

Elijah aka Rembrandt has had problems galore recently. He was betrayed by a team member and he is now nursing an injury. But when he attends the gym for help with PT he runs smack into his ex, Ava. It's been 4yrs since he last saw her and he can't help but feel fate is either throwing him a lifeline or trying to mess with his head!

Ava Monroe has got on with life. She is no longer the meek and mild female, who allowed her parents to mess with her life. She is stronger in both body and mind but seeing Elijah again has got her in a spin! But can she have a no strings fling with Elijag or will hearts get involved once again?

A great love story, wrapped up in a strong suspense. I loved how Ava had grown a back bone and no longer allowed anyone to trample over her or her feelings. Elijah showed his softer side and really grew on me.

I'm loving this Team Poseidon series! Elijah and Ava have a complicated history, but they haven't lost their connection. Ava's new outlook and Elijah's commitment to his SEAL team make it near impossible to turn their second chance into an HEA. Throw in the mess with Operation F* Up, and you've got a sexy, suspenseful romance in the making. I cannot wait for Nic's story!

I understand that this is part of a series but this was my first and I loved it. Ava & Elijah's story was heartbreaking and while it will have you in tears, by the end, you will have tears of the good kind! I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this story. this is a must read for anyone who likes suspense, romance & all the "feels".

I have loved Poseidon since the first book, and I am SO happy to see them continuing in this new series. Elijah and Ava are so broken, and without each other, they aren't whole. Their past and their present collide and this story is hopeful, while also being heartbreaking. I cannot wait for Nic's book, and some more of the mystery to be solved!

It hurts to write this cause I love Ms. Weber's books. I enjoyed the first book in this series and was looking forward to more, but I was just bored and couldn't care less what happens next.

There's a lot happening here's reunited ex-spouses, betrayal, healing, danger. I'm not sure I ever grew to really care about the characters, to root for their future together... but it was a good story. Good pacing, adequate character development.
