This is book 7 in the X-OP's series. There is are several series arcs that make this series best read in order. However they can be read as stand alones. In this book we get the conclusion of one of the over-arcing as well as new ones being started. There are a few big reveals and some threads neatly tied as well as some left hanging. All in all a satisfying read.

Trevor Maxwell is a coyote shifter. Left working in the government agency after all his friends have had to leave for their own safety, he is on the hunt for evidence against the man that had his boss and friend killed. Knowing he's under the killer's watchful eye, he is paired with a new partner, former CIA agent, Alina Bosch. After a few uneasy days, they start to work together as a team and learn to trust each other.

I have to say, I was a little disappointed with this book. While I did enjoy it, I felt the story was predictable and the 'reveals' I saw coming a mile away. I did like all the action and how the story flowed but I did find it easy to put down. Once I was reading it was engaging with lots of action but I wanted a little more. There were several perspectives as well and I would have preferred to spend more time with the main characters and less with side characters. I think that was a lot about building to that characters book (his is the next one in the series) but I would have liked less of that. I felt that the story tried to take on too much. We have a backstory that is conveniently connected to the bad guys, set up for the next book as well as showcasing the next bad guys for the series. Also more information about the hybrids and a whole big section where they are dealing with a hybrid that seems to have nothing to do with this particular story.

I did enjoy seeing many of the characters from previous books and finding more about the first shifter at the agency. I am very interested to see more about him. The action was good and kept the pace moving. As always I enjoyed how Alina was more than capable of holding her own when she and Trevor were on missions. This book took place mainly in a small area so we don't get too much of them out kicking butt together but there are some scenes where she is able to showcase her skills and she is just as impressive as Trevor's shifter abilities.

Overall I am still interested in this series and seeing where the author goes with it. There are plot points that were specifically left open that will hopefully be dealt with in the next book.

Her Dark Half is the seventh installment of the X-Ops by Paige Tyler.

X-Ops series has been building for quite sometime. I was super excited to read Coyote shifter, Trevor Maxwell and seeing what former CIA operative, Alina Bosch does. Paige Tyler has created an amazing read that hits all my needs. Romance? Check. Spy thriller? Check. Hot shifter? Check. Killer on the loose? Check.

Her Dark Half certainly brings the stakes higher and there were even a few shocks, even me. But I loved them! If Paige Tyler were to end the X-Ops with Her Dark Half, I would be completely satisfied, however, I’m happy to hear that there’s more to come.

I look forward to reading more!

I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining, and a good read with good characters. I did not think it was anything new or revolutionary, but I would recommend it to someone looking for a quick and enjoyable read.

Trevor Maxwell is one of the few shifters left at the DCO. The higher ups are determined to catch him communicating with his former teammates. To do this, they’ve brought in Alina Bosch, an ex-CIA agent who’s good at ferreting out moles. However, the longer she’s with Trevor, the more she’s finding that the higher ups might be the bad guys.
This was a really good book. It started right off with a tense scene, letting you know some of the Alina has been through, being the newest character of the series. I loved watching her come to terms with her new job as well as coming to terms with everything about Trevor. I loved the continuing overall story of the x-ops and some slightly predictable twists. I can’t wait for the next story. I highly recommend.

Yeah, I finally read the second half of this series! It took a while, but once I read one, I had to read the others, and they all went by so fast! So intense, and so great to read! Each of these couples, they were so great to read about!

In these books, they defeat the first group of people that started creating hybrids back from the first book. There's also some reveals of who they were working for. Lots of important things, that went really well with the romances of these awesome characters!

Each book is mostly self contained, there's the main story line, but there's still the over-arching series plot line, and Her Dark Half, yeah, it closes a lot of the series plot lines! I almost felt sorry for Dick, because he didn't think his boss was behind John being killed (or tried to be, since they failed, yeah!) but since he had been such an asshole throughout the series, well, yeah, only almost sorry!

So there were two, ok, 3 really big game changers. One at the end of Her True Match when John is killed. Next was the big battle in Her Dark Half, with almost all the bad guys wiped off the board. And the final one, at least for now, is the end of X-Ops Exposed. From the title, you can maybe guess what happened, that shifters and hybrids are outed, as well as the X-Ops program. Yeah. These events all changed, or will change, the world, and I hope we get to see all the fall out!

I loved reading these books, and I really hope that we get more!

Her Dark Half is book seven in Paige Tyler's X-Ops series. I have not read any of the other books in this series so jumping in with book seven was probably not the greatest idea. Her Dark Half has a lot going on outside of the main storyline, a lot of it I struggled to follow as I didn't have the background information that I needed from the other books. Obviously, this is my fault as a reader and isn't a criticism of the author. I was, however, able to follow the main storyline and the romance without issue and I found it mostly enjoyable. Her Dark Half is action packed and the romance was good. However, it failed to grip me like other books in this genre has. Her Dark Half is an entertaining book that unfortunately lacked a little character. Despite this, I will be making an effort to read more books from this series.

X-Ops is a favorite of mine, and coyote shifter Trevor Maxwell is a great example of why. He's sarcastic, witty, and loyal to his team above all else. Even when he knows that his teammate has been sent to spy on him. Alina was hit and miss for me. I understood her trust issues, but I didn't understand why they weren't universal. She wouldn't trust her teammate because she trusted someone else that said he was bad. But why did she trust that someone else?

Aside from my hesitation over who Alina chose to trust, she was a really fun character. There are several undercover scenes that were just perfect. The dialog and interactions between Trevor and Alina were hot! And the way they build up the tension.....I wasn't sure if they were going to implode before they got together or not.

There's also a cute dog that the neighbor watches who has an amazing habit of busting in at inopportune times to help lighten the mood. However, it wasn't all fun and laughs. There are some pretty serious things happening in the world of X-Ops. Just when you think the bad guys have been dealt a death blow - they seem to jump right back up with some new back pocket plan and ally. Tons of suspense and I was on the edge of my seat for many reasons throughout Her Dark Half.

A very good read I loved the characters I love this series but found that the ending was abrupt I only wish we don't get this abruptness again. none the less I love the author and the way she is so amazing with words.

Her Dark Half was a little hard for me to get into at first. This is also the seventh book in this series and I have read none of the previous ones. I got this copy of the book from NetGalley for review purposes. I will say that by 28% (thank you kindle) I got HOOKED into this book. The mystery of waiting to see how they get the baddie was a lot of fun to read. The events that occur within the book flow naturally. Thanks to the author's skillful writing tying you in. So if you haven't read the previous books like me, you will be fine to pick this up. You get a feel for the world and previous events pretty early in the book.

I love shifter style books because the idea is just magical. Who wouldn't want to be an animal right? In Her Dark Half, there are some who are born as shifters. And then there are some who were kidnapped, tortured and, turned into shifters with science backed by a shady congressman. Thorne is an evil man, and it is left to the only shifter left in the DCO to ferret out the truth of all the previous events from other books. Trevor is a coyote shifter and he only has a few friends left that are helping out. Thorne thinks he is slick and hires a former CIA agent who is skilled at getting traitors to be Trevor's partner.

Alina is a bad-ass with a past. She quit working for the CIA because she been obsessed in finding a criminal. The criminal had once been her team member who betrayed her whole team killed. Alina was so obsessed with finding traitors that it became her specialty. Alina got sick of doing that job. Always looking for people in your own ranks who are traitor's has got to wreck your emotions. So Alina saw a new opportunity to work with the DCO and took it. The problem was she didn’t' realize that she would be watching her new partner Trevor to see if he is a traitor.

To start these two do not trust each other at all. Alina is under the impression that Trevor is probably a traitor. Trevor knows that Alina is most likely a plant to keep an eye on him so he can't bust Thorne and Dick. Dick is the current head of the DCO and he is definitely shady. There are a bunch of shifters who are on the run, one is even pregnant. And they are all trying to survive and find out what Dick and Thorne are up to. There are a lot of people in this story that are from the earlier books and you get to see parts of them but not much. There are more books in the series and this series seems pretty solid from what I have read. It had solid action and solid action.

This series continues to go into an unexpected direction, more and more going into deep water that shows us that no matter who is in charge, ultimate power truly does ultimately corrupt. I am looking forward to where all this is heading though and wondering if in the end good truly will overcome evil. Trevor has been one of those characters that you wonder about, his issues with controlling his shifting making him increasingly unstable and his inability to control his urges making him just that much more sinfully sexy. When the other shifters in the organization were forced into hiding, he definitely stepped up and has taken on a dangerous mission, but he knows that trusting his new partner is not a good idea, even if she is too sexy for words and pulls on his instincts in ways he has never experienced. Alina left the CIA when she found herself being typecast on her missions, only to find herself placed right back into the same situation, except with one very big difference—the partner she is now spying on is not entirely human. While they work together and slowly come to trust one another the passion and heat between them becomes stronger and just as undeniable as the fact that their lives as truly in danger unless they can root out the evil in the organization that they may just end up giving their lives to. I really enjoyed seeing Trevor and Alina working together and they were a great couple once they began to trust one another, but I will say that if you haven’t been a follower of this series I don’t think you would have been able to jump right in at this point without being a bit lost, which takes away some of the greatness of the story. The romance between the H&H is worth every second of the angst and tension needed to bring them together and I LOVED the twists and turns the overall series arc took and can see this one lasting a long time to come. I would like to see a few more of the SEALs come to find love as well, but my favorite part of this series was definitely seeing the growing family that has formed from the couples in the previous stories coming together. Sometimes the family you build by choice truly is stronger than the one you are born into. I am looking forward to the next story in the series and seeing where Ms. Tyler takes the series now that more secrets have been uncovered and some characters have taken new directions. Keep up the good work.

Another fantastic page turner of a book fromPaige Tyler. The characters are fantastic and the plot was engaging and fast paced just brilliant

I knew that this book would be a bit different from previous books because of how Her True Match ended. The series has been building and building since book one. Things really came to a head and a lot happened at the end of book six. That leaves this current, book seven, to pick up the pieces and move the series forward.

The books in this series always start off in the past. We learn something about the new character that will be part of the main couple for that particular book. Here, we go back into Alina Bosch’s past. She was part of a team of CIA agents and she is betrayed by one of her teammates and the expense of the rest of the team. As you can imagine, revenge is very high on her list. She wants nothing more than retribution for her teammates lives. So, when she is given the opportunity to work in a different government branch and sniff out someone who betrayed their boss, you can imagine how quickly she jumped on the chance. Oh, they also offered to let her use resources to track down her dirtbag of an ex-teammate too.

Trevor Maxwell was a minor character who is getting his time to shine. He is a coyote shifter and has been an operative for DCO for years. He decided to stay, when many others left, to try to get information on what the corrupt people in power are doing up to. He is reporting back to Ivy and Landon.

It is safe to say that Trevor and Alina start off very rocky. Neither trusts the other and they both have good reason. It doesn’t take long before Alina starts to see that she wasn’t told the 100% truth and that Trevor isn’t the cold blooded killer she was told. Trevor starts to see that Alina is on the up and up and that they must work together to figure out what is going on at DCO.

This is a really fun series. I love the great mashup of suspense, action and romance. The fact that there are shifters (my favorite of all the paranormal species), doesn’t hurt anything either. Paige Tyler has done a great job with keeping things very interesting with the overall series arc and the diversity in characters. I really feel like every character is completely unique. Every couple has their own issues that they must overcome to be together. I can’t wait to see where she takes the series from here.

HER DARK HALF takes author Paige Tyler's X-Ops series to the next level with a lot of cleverly written twists, turns, and intrigue. I really can't go into detail as the telling could be considered big spoilers. Let's just say that some of the things you believe happened in the last book just might not have happened after all. Or at least not the way it was presented to us.

Trevor and Alina, are an amazing match for each other. I loved their dialogue as it allows the characters as well as the readers to get to know them better. The slow build up of trust, which even holds after Alina admits she is supposed to find evidence against Trevor in the death of John, is just perfectly paced. It would be unrealistic for them to trust one another immediately given Alina's past, which we are given in the beginning, and Trevor with his determination to exonerate his friends.

Whether you love Ms. Tyler's books or have never tried one before, you are in for an amazing treat with HER DARK HALF, it is filled with action, intrigue, camaraderie, sweet love with hits of steamy and a fight for the truth that will lead you to a shocking end. Fear not though, I do believe our author has more up her sleeve for this series because, to be honest ... we still don't know who to trust.

Her Dark Half is the seventh book in the X-Ops series by Paige Tyler. While there are parts of the story that you can only fully enjoy if you know the bigger picture, this romance can be enjoyed on its own as well.

Trevor Maxwell is a coyote shifter with an attitude, a covert operator, and trusts no one, especially his devastatingly beautiful new partner. Alina Bosch is former CIA, the newest operative on the covert team, and hired to spy on her partner. They are teamed up to catch a killer. But when the mission becomes much more dangerous than they expected, they're going to have to ignore the attraction between them and learn how to trust one another to come out on the other side.

Her Dark Half does a good just of looking at trust issues and partners. Trevor and Alina both have good reasons not to trust easily, and I think that part of the story, and their developing relationship is well done. However, somehow I just never really connected with either of them, and was more interested in the large corruption plot and the other relationships that were touched on in the story (Tanner's in particular). I did like that many of my questions about who did what were answered, and while some twists and turns were exceptional, I felt like others were just too easy. I think I might be done with this series, but I will admit wanting to know the outcome of some of the pairing I know will happen, but have not yet.

Her Dark Half is a good continuation to the larger story arch, which I was glad to see some serious movement on. However, I was not as engaged with the characters as I have been in previous books, and this is by no means the end of the series.I felt like it might have closed the book on part of the story, but there is a whole new angle for the series to continue on with.

This books picks up from the cliff hangar ending of the previous book. The X-Ops team is scattered and in hiding while mourning the loss of their leaders particularly John who established the DCO. It's like the dark moment when evil is winning but all is not as it seems. Trevor, a coyote shifter team mate remains at the DCO to be the eyes and ears of his team mates as they plot to take down the villains and gain the upper hand.

It does seem like all is lost when the story starts out with the villains openly walking the halls of the DCO. If things weren't bad enough Trevor is now partnered with a new hot shot partner from the CIA. Alina carries her own share of baggage after being the only survivor of her CIA team betrayed by an insider. She's come on board at the DCO fed on Dick the villain's lies and his promise to help her avenge her lost team mates.
Skeptical and wary she's surprised at the feeling of trust that Trevor inspires. Their team building exercise is an eye opener but before they can fully develop the initial tendrils of trust they are thrust into action in the real world. The chemistry between her and Trevor is explosive and she really does have his back except when she inadvertently provides information to Dick that she shouldn't have.
The story soon jumps into high gear with explosive action. Readers will be slack jawed as the story continues revealing truths that I for one definitely did not imagine. As the team takes on the villains in an attempt to cleanse the taint from the DCO and restore order for the X-Ops team a new set of villains are revealed.
This is pivotal book in the series and must be read so you know what's happening as the series continues. Given the ending and the reveals in this book it looks like we have a lot more exciting action in store for the series with a host of new characters.

Her Dark Half is another game changer for Author Paige Tyler’s X-Ops series.

Ex-CIA Agent Alina Bosch has made a career of ferreting out crooked agents. A tragedy hardened Alina and turned her into a skeptical person. Alina’s new job at the Department of Covert Operations is much the same. Her boss wants her to spy on her new partner. Coyote shifter Trevor Maxwell is on the hunt for a killer. A killer within the DCO’s upper echelon. The last complication he needs is a new partner.

Her Dark Half is an exciting paranormal romance. Trevor and Alina are filled with doubts but they are soon overtaken by their heady attraction. As the X-Ops world gets bigger and more complex it makes the characters more tightknit. Tyler keeps the story strong by including most of the previous characters in current storylines. I like getting a front row seat in the lives of my favorite characters. Tyler is amazing at keeping these past characters carefully woven into the current storyline. Whereas, in most novels past characters pop in with simple updates but Tyler keeps her characters in the middle of the action. The X-Ops characters are always intriguing, multi-layered, humorous and oh so sexy! Her Dark Half is a fast-paced thrill ride. It left me breathless from the beginning. I love that Alina is such a badass character. Her serious demeanor is the perfect pairing with Trevor’s devil-may-care attitude.

As I read this book I wondered if this was the last in the series and I have just not heard about it. All the stories have combined to get us to this book. And it feels like this is the final showdown. I hope it isn’t the last though. While this series has been up and down for me it is still a great read if you enjoy the paranormal genre.

I enjoyed seeing all the characters again from past books. The story is fast paced and filled with adventure.

I would love to say more but also don’t want to give much away. I will say you can read this as a stand alone but I recommend that you do not. As I said it brings back storylines and characters from the six previous books and it really is best to read this in order.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Title: Her Dark Half
Series:  X-Ops Book #7
Author:  Paige Tyler
Genre:  Paranormal, Romance
Blurb:  Trevor Maxwell
Coyote shifter with an attitude
Covert operator
Trusts no one, especially his devastatingly beautiful new partner

Alina Bosch
Former CIA, newest operative on the covert team
Hired to spy on her partner
Motto: "Never be deceived again."

Coyote shifter Trevor Maxwell is teamed up with CIA agent Alina Bosch to catch a killer. But when the mission becomes much more dangerous than they expected, they're going to have to ignore the attraction between them and learn how to trust one another to come out on the other side...
Favorite quotes: “Sorry to burst your bubble, but with a dress this form-fitting, wearing panties isn’t an option.”
“Trevor is definitely hot. I haven’t seen abs like that since the Chippendales tour came to town. And he’s attractive as sin.”
“Anytime you want to grab my ass feel free. I certainly won’t complain.”
“That’s the idea. I want you to get used to it. Why do you think I’m working so hard?”
Thoughts: I have to admit that I liked this book. Unfortunately, I haven’t read many of the books in this series (maybe two). While it can be read as a standalone, it should be read in order to really get the complexities of the storyline and know the backstories from the other characters. I admit a few times I was thinking ‘what in the world is going on?’ or ‘okay, so that’s a big deal why?’, or just had general questions on why this person is important to the storyline. Not to mention just that general nagging about characters you know had a previous book in the series! It didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment of the book and these characters, but I did wish I had read the prior ones first.
That being said, I enjoyed the story between Trevor and Alina. Both were really likeable characters and I liked the focus put on having these two strangers trying to field their way around a new partnership and learning to trust each other. It added a depth to the book that I felt was important. The action-packed storyline kept the interest going and the romance pulled it all together. If you tend to like James Bond movies, this book will appeal to you – it definitely has that feel to it.
An engaging read from Paige Tyler and hits home that I missed some great books in this series – something I will remedy now!

Book seven in the X-Ops series. So after the events of the last book things obviously have to change around the DCO. All of the past couples are currently in hiding so they can stay alive and look for dirt on Thorn. Trevor chose to stay acting as the inside man regarding what is going on inside though this is risky since shifters are essentially hated by the new recruits. Alina is brought in because she has special skills at being able to locate traitors and Dick demands that she narks on Trevor in regards to pretty much everything he does. Of course this does not make it easy for them to work together since neither trusts the other one but as secrets start to come out they both learn what they are really fighting for making them true partners when it comes down to it. There is yet another surprising grand finale for this book which I did not see coming though I relish every bit. The set-up for the next book has me hooked so I will be looking forward to learning when we get the next installment. This book is a must read for fans of the series and for those that enjoy a good paranormal military like romance novel. I really enjoyed it so it gets 4/5 stars.

How can the DCO go on without John as director? Trevor and his friends are determined to find out who killed John. The new director gives Trevor a new partner that is known for finding traitors. Will Trevor be able to trust his new partner?
Lots of action and surprises. You won't want to put it down until you're finished!
