Every secret thing all right! This wasn't my cup of tea- the plot felt familiar and I didn't find a character I was committed to. Thanks for the ARC.

Sorry not really for me. I found the characters somewhat annoying and unlikable. Perhaps I live too lonely or uninteresting a life but I do not find real relationships to be like these portrayed.

From the cover and the book blurb, I expected this book to be one of the light reads but it wasn't. It was a quite a tedious read and I didn't enjoy most of it.
The author Rachel Crowther, may have developed her characters after a lot of thought. But they don't come across as such in her words. They seemed selfish and I couldn't connect with any of them. Friendship is written with a warm hand and lots of emotions and I didn't get that from this book.
I couldn't enjoy the style of writing which confused me in most parts.

Five young people from different backgrounds are all drawn together at Cambridge University by their love of music, they are all choristers and are led by their mentor Faye. Just before they graduate Faye takes them to a cottage in the Lake District and here a sequence of events take place that will change their lives.

Twenty years later and the same five people are summoned back to the Lake District and we see what has happened to them in the meantime and how the events shaped their lives.......can this meeting help them find the answers they are looking for?

A good book slipping effortlessly between the present and 1995 allowing the reader to learn all of the history and events that have occurred - interesting characters and definitely for me a page turner

I am not reviewing this book because I did not finish it. I was having a tough time enjoying the book and made it to 12% before I decided to move to another book. It has now been two weeks and I have read about a dozen other books. Therefore, I'm pretty my interest in continuing this book is nil.

Intense, sobering, and perceptive!

This is a character-driven novel that reminds us that life is precious and short and that everyone and everything that enters it shapes, defines, and influences us.

The writing is intelligent and descriptive. The characters are complex, secretive, and selfish. And the plot, although a little slow at times, is narrated from multiple perspectives and written in a past/present style that does a remarkable job of revealing all the personalities, motivations, and actions within it and finishes with a nice little twist.

This is ultimately a novel about life, friendship, secrets, manipulation, desire, jealousy, acceptance and forgiveness and has a very contemplative, moody feel. And although it is very clear from the onset that Crowther is a strong, literary writer I would have preferred the characters to have a few more redeeming qualities and be a little more likable.

Thank you to Bonnier Zaffre for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A very interesting read. Characters that were easy to get to know and a plot well laid out, moving between 1995 and 2015 and also between the people involved. I found the book difficult to put down and thoroughly recommend.

Review: Every Secret thing is about friendship, mystery and love. It is set in the Lake District and involves five friends.

Rachel Crowther is a beautiful writer and writes in great depth. She is able to go deep into her characters thoughts, feelings and memories, showing great understanding. This in turn comes across as you read. Rachel has great passion for her story.

Unfortunately, this will be not one of my personal favourites, however it is by far not a bad book and this is not a bad review. Personal for me I didn't connect with the characters on a personal level but that is nothing to do with the writing of this book but more about what I like personally and what the characters are like in the story.

This is defiantly a page turner and kept me hooked to find out the history of these characters.

Rachel Crowther is a beautiful writer and I would read other books written by her.

I truly enjoyed Every Secret Thing by Rachel Crowther. This book was deep and twisted but also showed the lightness and happiness of youth. I liked the alternating perpective both in time and point of view. I look forward to more of Crowther's works in the future.

This was exactly what I was looking for at the time! After reading A LOT of crime fiction, I wanted something lighter, but not silly or fluff, and that is what I got in this book. I love the way the story unfolded and the way the characters developed. It felt very real and the writing was so easy to get lost in. Lovely!

This novel was an absolute pleasure to read. It took me twice the time any other with this page count would as it is absolutely jam-packed with detail.

The story follows six separate people with Cambridge University in common - singing in particular. We get to know them, collectively and individually, 'then' and 'now' with a twenty year gap in between. None of the basic story is familiar to me, but I was enthralled with the lives of these very clever and ambitious students. So different - and yet so similar at times. There are more than a few revelations hidden in this tale - and yet, they're not really so surprising as they all slot in so well.

I have loved reading this one .. it has completely absorbed me, revealing itself bit by bit and all in a timely fashion. Never boring, always plenty to consider and each individual thread well finished off at the final page. If you enjoy a really good saga, then this is one I heartily recommend.

I received an arc via NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Excellent story line and well thought out .I particular liked the flashbacks for each of the characters from past to present brings the story back to life.
Description and setting for the book was a good choice as it showrd the connection between the characters, their background and location.
Something to think about our past actions and matters left unsolved .A sequel to the book would be greatly appreaciated to see what happens with each of the characters.

I really hate giving reviews that are critical, but this book was a real struggle.
I persevered through it because I hate giving up on a book... but it was so uneventful. I really thought it might pick up, but not only did it stay dull, it ended dull.
I would definitely not recommend this book

This story was very hard to get into. The fact that it kept going back and forth in time was very frustrating. I wasn't excited about the way the story line was presented as it lacked fluidity.

I didn't much enjoy this novel, it felt like the plot was very convoluted and the characters lacked much real background or development.

This book was really different than anything else I've read recently. It took me a few chapters to get into it but by the end I couldn't put it down.
