There is a missing key in Christianity today. It is a critical key, and its absence has led to weak believers, disintegrating families, ineffective churches, and a decaying culture. Without the full use of this key, we lack the tools needed to fully live as heaven’s representatives on earth.

That missing key is discipleship. In Kingdom Disciples, Tony Evans outlines a simple, actionable definition of discipleship to help the church fulfill its calling. Readers will learn:

What a disciple essentially isWhat a disciple cares about how to be a disciple and make disciples what discipleship looks like in community that the impact of discipleship on the world should be
Kingdom disciples are short supply, and the results are legions of powerless Christians attending powerless churches, resulting in a powerless presence in the world. The power, authority, abundance, victory, and impact God has promised will only come about when we understand and align ourselves with His definition of discipleship.

It is the goal of this book Kingdom Disciples to call believers and churches back to our primary, divinely ordained responsibility to be disciples and make disciples. Only when we take seriously this assignment will the world see heaven at work on earth. Will you accept the assignment?

Useful for base material in a course on discipleship.

Tony Evans is a great teacher, and in this book he tells his readers the importance of discipleship. Well written and a great read.

Wow! This book is vital. From the beginning, it not only explains the importance of prayer but addresses why praying can be so hard. I encourage readers to grab this book and then to follow Tony Evans' ministry if not already following. He offers so many free resources in multiple areas.

The latest in Dr. Evans’s Kingdom series, Kingdom Disciples clearly outlines what it means to be a disciple, what exactly is discipleship, and how to develop and implement discipleship in one’s family, church, and community.

This book is very equipping in that Dr. Evans wants to make sure the reader is fully prepared for making true disciples. Only after he has clearly laid out what it means to be a disciple does he begin discussing ways to make disciples of others. I found his explanations to be very insightful and practical.

This book could be used as an individual study or for a group class. It is solidly Biblical, convicting, and hope-giving.

I gratefully received this book as an eARC from the author, publisher, and NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

In Kingdom Disciples, Tony Evans calls us to a deeper commitment to God as we sacrifice ourselves and commit fully to Him. He says that a kingdom disciple should aim to “replicate God’s kingdom values in the lives of others.” He explains how sacrifice is needed but that true surrender leads to freedom from worry. This book is full of gems like this to digest slowly and it is well worth reading. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

A strong biblical and practical primer on the topic and role of Discipleship. Dr. Evans implements his mastery of expository messages, with profound grace and simplicity. The book is broken down into 3 parts: the roots of, development of and operation of discipleship -- Who we are, what we represent and what we must do as Disciples. He provides in-depth explanations and relevant examples/analogies, complete with supporting biblical verses. 'Kindgom Disciples' should be a staple of faith-based literature on Christian living.

This book is powerful, compelling, and convicting. Kingdom disciples are in short supply. The result of this is powerless Christians attending powerless churches, which leads to a powerless presence in the world. Creating Kingdom disciples is essential to reach the lost in our world. Powerless and ineffective disciples will have little or no impact in the formation of new disciples.

Tony Evans defines a disciple as "a believer in Christ who takes part in the spiritual developmental process of progressively learning to live all of life in submission to Jesus Christ." The goal of a kingdom disciple is to have a transformed life and to replicate God’s kingdom values in the lives of others.

In Matthew 28:16-20, Jesus commands us to "go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you." Furthermore, Christ admonishes us to do this until the end of the age. Most people today, especially Christians, often fail to realize that we are still in that age. The Bible is not merely a history book, it is the definitive book for Christians to live by! The Bible is the living, breathing Word of God. Yes, we are patiently waiting for Christ to come again in glory, but until then we must continue to go and make disciples of all the nations. Discipleship does not end when you accept Christ and get baptized in His name, that is merely the beginning.

Another important point we sometimes fail to remember is that making disciples does not necessarily correlate with church membership. Putting people in the pews or serving them at the fellowship meal is great on paper, but the goal of discipleship is to make followers of Christ. Society will continue to deteriorate due to ineffective discipleship from a weakening Christian presence.

Evans outlines the key elements and components of effective discipleship in detail. He does a great job of explaining how to biblically apply these principles in our everyday lives. He also uses personal experiences and stories to illustrate and reinforce scriptural references. This book is saturated with scripture, and no topic is left untouched. You'll find a focus on all aspects of your life, including marriage, family, church, and community. The appendix also contains a great resource for establishing a Kingdom discipleship mentality, including individual steps, family steps, church steps, and community steps.

I highly recommend this book to all Christians as we strive to be more like Christ and spread his Word and love throughout the nations. I received this as a free ARC from Moody Publishers on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
