LORDS OF THE UNDERWORLD The Dark Sampler by Gina Showalter
I am a long time fan of Gina Showalter's Lord of the Underworld. This Sampler brings you a taste through excerpts of 12 of her immortal warriors and their ladies. She has also added a preview of another book. Having read through these, now I am wanting to go back and reread these stories from the beginning. This is 5 stars.

Not having read all of the samplers, I can only review up to chapter 4 of the first, as I don’t want to spoil the series.

From what I have read, I have very much enjoyed this and have purchased the full edition!

I was a little confused when I saw how large the file was and I don’t think it was the best idea put thing this as a sampler, as it made it look like this was a sampler of the first book. It would have been better to label it as a series sampler and specify this in the description.

I am looking forward to seeing where the series goes.

ave always loved reading her books. I can't wait til the next one each time. Every time I open up her books she send me to someone else's world and I fall in love all over again.

I really really really wanted to like this book. I've been in the mood for paranormal romance books so I finally picked up this sampler. It sounded so good, it had so much potential, but it just didn't grab my attention. I couldn't get into the writing and I felt like all Maddox was talking about was violence. And yes, you may say 'duh, of course, he has the demon of violence in him.' but no, sorry, doesn't make it any better. I can't really say much else of this, it was just a mayor disappointed. It gets two stars because there was potential and I can see Showalter really tried to write a good book. It just didn't work for me.

I've enjoyed many of Gene Showalter's novels, a mixture masculanity, powerful men with mystical vulnerabilities meet heroines in need turn into great romantic storylines. Great reads.

This sampler gives just enough detail to entice the appetite for a fuller meal. Great job!
All of the characters in Gena's stories carry great responsibilities and with these great burdens and tasks they must complete. These turn into adventures that defy the imagination that transports the reader into another world.

This is a wonderful book to take part in if you are trying to decide if this is something that you would enjoy reading. I am a faithful reader of ALL of Gena's writing and as usual she doesn't disappoint. I wholeheartedly suggest you reading this series you will not be able to put the book down. They leave you begging for more.

I know this author is very popular as are her series but I haven't read anything before this of hers and this just didn't really interest me. I think I found the plot interesting but the writing just didn't pull me in. Sometimes I think contemporary stories feel more like being in someone's head versus being told a story and this felt like the latter. Which works for some people but I personally just couldn't get into it. I only read through 3 chapters of the 5 before deciding it just wasn't for me.

My daughter has been reading Gena Showalter books for years and always encourages me to read them. I chose this sampler so I could see if her books were for me. The book is not what I expected. I;m still not completely sold, but will accept the book the next time she offers to share.

Gena showalter is one of my all time favorite authors.

I loved this book.

It was a teaser, it got you hooked. It left you wanting more. It had just enough of the books that made you want to read The Lords of the Underworld series again and again.

This sampler was very intriguing and made me want to get the whole set! I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was a great way for newer readers to catch a glimpse of a great paranormal series. I love Gena Showalter and have been a fan for years. As a reader and former bookseller I would recommend that the series should be read in order for the best enjoyment.

I discovered this series a few years ago and fell in love instantly.
This sample collection has me eager to do a massive reread of the entire series – I hadn't realised how much I missed Showalter's characters and writing.
I also love the idea of a sampler available to readers, old and new. I think it's the perfect way to get new readers into this series and rekindle the love from old readers too.

I absolutely love Gena Showlater and her Lords of the Underworld series. I definitely like some of the men more than others, as some of them can be a tad too controlling for my tastes.

I was interested in the summary, but the storyline could have been more succinct. The overdone descriptions lessened the impact of the writing and my enjoyment.

If you have already read the entire series of Genas books then you do not need to read this. I thought this was going to be a sampler from her new book but it was just a snippet of extracts from all of the previous books.

Bit of a waste of time for me sorry.

Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors.

The Lords of the Underworld: The Darkest Sampler is great! It gives you a glimpse into each of these Lords, a sample of each of the books in the series. Once your read these you'll want to buy the entire series! Ms. Showalter is a magnificent storyteller. Lords of the Underworld takes you into the world of the paranormal.

You won't regret reading this sampler and you will not get enough! You will be going out to purchase the each of the novels.

I read most of these full books years ago (and still have them in paperback) but forgot how much I enjoyed them. They are so rich and full. Just reading this sampler makes me want to read them again. The Lords of the Underworld will keep you enthralled and not want to put them down.

What a wonderful way to either revisit the Lords of the Underworld or to discover the true heroes who are forced to carry the demons from Pandora's box within themselves!
There is just enough tucked into this sample to draw you back to them, regardless of which hero you fall for. Or if you are new to this world, to introduce you to them and make you fall for them and wish only for the best.
Showalter is as nearly as talented as Sherylin Kenyon in created the damaged and broken hero. I give this a 5 out of 5. But I want more Alien Huntress Novels from Showalter, those truly rock!
